State of the onion federation: what's going on with Star Trek Coins.
Star Trek and Crypto fans, I am sure that many of us love these coins, and what they represent to our love to Star Trek and other SciFi tales. But many of us are quite uncertain about the future of these coins. While the idea of these coins have been brilliant, the execution and the follow up by the creator, SciFi, had been lacking.
SciFi, Dreamwatcher and I had been trying to work together to bring the promised exchange to the community. However, it's sad to say that SciFi has been missing not only from this thread, but also from communicating with the two of us! Both Dreamwatcher and I had been saddened and frustrated with the situation. Personally, a few times I lost motivation to work on the exchange and gave up.
However, instead of walking away, Dreamwatcher and I decided to take over this project and to bring a new life to these (and possibly future) coins. Dreamwatcher is currently working on the KED replacement, and I continue to work on the exchange.
While we are committed, we will not be able to do everything ourselves. We need support and contributions from all the community members, both in technical matters and in marketing efforts to bring these coins to wider adoption and to continue increasing the values of these coins.
Lets do it together, to boldly go where no coins have gone before!

~Ok Bi%&*es all of you need to calm the fu*# down. I didn't go anywhere. I had a family emergency and if you must be informed on my personal life too my mom was put back in the hospital so ive been really busy helping with her. Not really sure why im explaining myself to any of you. Its only been 4 days.... Now lets get down to business. The future of this coin will depend on how well it does which will depend on its team and user base. I have plans to let it be used on my site that is currently in development. SnatchBox.me Will be a Live Cam Site / Casino with some social networking flavor. But in order for me to be able to use this the coin will have to be trading at a good amount. First and foremost I need to put together a good Dev team. Cubits also needs a proper website . It looks like we need to work some bugs out and I will be talking with Dreamwatcher and Shakazulu on those issues ASAP. I am very busy at the moment with RL, The development of my new website and this new coin. So putting together a good team for development and promotion is crucial. To Dreamwatcher and everyone else who helped in my absence thank you so much !

So it looks like Darsek problem will not resolve it'self and even if all the PoS blocks were to have matured, and PoW was flowing again I think it will only be a matter of time before the next issue. I want to go ahead with a cash in & relaunch KED the second coming. The easiest way would be to start a thread, on the forum www.scificointalk.com where people can stake a claim to their share of the first super-block. Can someone start this thread for me please and link back here. In the thread I need users to post their main/first wallet address, the amount of coins, your preference for the new KED... reward, fees, Block time, total coins, algo (Scrypt/Sha256d/S-jane) etc. So we will work on a new coin with 100,000 super-block 80,000 to be distributed to the current KED owners and 20,000 for a Logo competition. If anyone has a strong objection to this let me know ASAP. Agreed. and i would also vote for scrypt(sorry csihrt<3)..sha256 would allow any of the current asic miners to jump on the chain and rape the hell out of it. maybe start a poll on www.scificointalk.com?cheers |

So, recently I haven't been able to move coins from one of my GPL wallets that I solo mine with. I'm getting: "Error: Transaction creation failed". This wallet wasn't encrypted but I just did that now, we'll see if I can move them at a later date. I can move coins from my main encrypted wallet just fine.
I haven't been able to pay too close attention to these coins because I'm out of the country. I'm using teamviewer to check in on my miner and this has popped up. Could this be related to a POS issue as well?
As Dreamwatcher and others have stated.... this is usually happens if you try to create too big of a transaction. Try sending a smaller amount until it finally works. try 5 coins(25 mined_inputs x 0.2each) at first and then more or less in 1 coin increments until it works. hope this helps. cheers. |

How about encrypting the wallets? will that stop the POS?
yes. but then you will need to enter your password for every send transaction...and some users may forget it putting their coins at a loss. as well as you can't decrypt a wallet with out doing method 1. method 2 is more elegant. |

i figure 3-5 days before the networks starts flowing freely again.
there is quite a backlog of POS blocks trying to squeeze through the little KED network's CPUs. and since there is no effective way to cancel a current minting POS block (that i know of).. just gotta wait till you're CPU is done ....then your reservebalance function should kick in.
once the network grows and there are more transactions between addresses...this should not be an issue?

Q: So i understand that too many POS blocks are clogging the system, If i want to help unclog the network how do i prevent my client from generating POS blocks and making the problem worse? A: Glad you asked! Method 1) Move your oldest coins(older than 25 days) to a new wallet address that you control. This will renew the coin-age factor and reset your coins' Available_for_minting clock. Method 2) Make your current balance of coins unavailable for POS minting while your client is turned on, by using 'reservedbalance' function in your darsek.conf file. Restart your client. example: in the example above...the client will try to keep 1000 ked from being used in POS generation. I put 'reservebalance=1000000' to effectively turn off all POS generation on my client......at least until i get 1 million ked.  I believe if enough of the users/clients out there do this then the network will unclog again and we wont have to use any other more drastic measures, such as a re-issuance or recoding. I recommend at least method 2 with 'reservebalance=100000.00' for a 100k reserve. cheers. |
