My website was done by myself as well as pool engine! Also processing scripts are entirely mine.
...I also developed support for all protocols by myself
...Backend also is my own.

Bitte erlauben mir ihnen zu congratulieren an ihrer spitze Arbeit!  Dwarfpool regniert! --aber Maxcoin giftig Verschwendung saugt!

fuckin shitcoin i will never buy a single one
This coin is a total failure:

  • developers never heard about testnet, and launched coin in real net
  • released untested binaries, that simply don't run, because developers haven't ever heard about static linking
  • they don't know how to make releases using github release system, and just push zipped binaries
  • they don't know how to prepare source code for compilation, and then push unprepared code to repository (figuring out how to compile that code took me about 15-30 minutes, and I'm one of those "skilled nerds")
  • think about all other people who wanted to participate in launch, and don't know how to compile code
  • official pool "max.rocketpool.co.uk" is stealing maxcoins http://www.reddit.com/r/maxcoinproject/comments/1xcfu2/maxrocketpoolcouk_are_currently_thieves/
  • the only pool that really worked (for me at least) was max.1gh.com until it was DDoSed to oblivion, and official twitter response: https://twitter.com/maxcoinproject/status/431571916764483585  - that it is a scam. You call that a good communitation between developers upon launch??
  • how hard would it be for maxcoin to reach out for people who wish to cooperate before launch. But no - it is better to find out live, who is interested in creating pools.
  • majority of miners are botnet owners right now, I don't want to see the crash when they decide to cash out. I will not be here anyway.

I'm out. If I ever see any article about maxcoin in any major outlet, my response will be exactly what they deserved.

You can quote this whole post on every new page in this thread, and give an address. I will send you 1 MAX to first person on every new page that quotes this. But what's the point, these MAX are worthless anyway. I have about 50 MAX to spend on that.

EDIT: I don't attribute to malice that which can be equally well explained by stupidity. But effect is the same: maxcoin is a failure due to incompetence, not due to malice.

Ya snooze ya lose, hehe...

I wonder if he's actually paying these bounties?

I stand to double my stash of MAX!!!

Sure hope so...

AMD MSI 270X miner settings:

Quote
./cgminer --keccak -o stratum+tcp://pool -u user -p x -I 12 --gpu-engine 1050 --gpu-memclock 1500 --auto-fan --temp-target 70 --api-listen

Gives pretty good 210Mh/s.

Your (bandwidth x cores) is 2.46 x what my humble r7 260X provides, so almost twice the hash rate makes sense (I'm getting 110 MH/s with

Quote
./cgminer --keccak -o "stratum+tcp://erebor.dwarfpool.com:3339" -u mS47ysKD6Zh14v2N6dZPqBXDNL3JYFQ9kV -p 1 --failover-only -o "stratum+tcp://moria.dwarfpool.com:3339" -u mS47ysKD6Zh14v2N6dZPqBXDNL3JYFQ9kV -p 1 -I 8 --auto-fan --temp-target 70

)

Just received my first 0.13961368 MAX from dwarfpool, with another 0.2184 MAX unconfirmed.  This, for about 5 hours mining.

Any tutorial for CPU Mining ? I just can't figure out how to do it Sad

Well, here's a start:

http://forum.max-coin.net/index.php/topic,3.0.html

I dunno about it not being worth it to CPU mine...in 3 days of CPU mining on my i5 3570k at 4GHz I've picked up 2 MAX.  Not a lot, but better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!  It has an onboard Intel graphics chip and won't accept an ATi video card.  After I get rich mining with this 260X on this Phenom IIx4 945 rig (6-year-old HP Pavilion), I'll buy an nVidia for the 3570k rig.

Sorry, little off topic but why do you think it does not accept AMD card but Nvidia will work?

Actually I don't know that an nVidia will work.  I tried this r7 260X on it first and it gave no display.  The BIOS has no provision for specifying a primary video adapter, so maybe an nVidia won't work either.  It's an Asus P8H77-I --a micro-ATX form factor with integrated Intel graphics.  Cheap enough that if an nVidia won't work either, then I'll just go buy a new motherboard.

if running cgminer on linux and over terminal, don't forget "export DISPLAY=:0" sometimes no temps are found for cgminer, this should help.

I am indeed running cgminer on linux and over terminal, but am not seeing temperatures in the cgminer display.  However, I found one reference saying that the r7 260X is OK running all day at 78 C, so running at 71-72 should not hurt it.

If you have SMOS or bamt, you need do copy ADL_SDK directory contents from /opt/miners/cgminer/ADL_SDK/ to maxcoin miner ADL_SDK directory, then re-compile.

Aha, thanks!

I use MSI afterburner personally but u can use Catalyst that comes with the card

Also try scaling up the intensity slowly to see where ur sweet spot is.

Aha...the Catalyst Control Center does not show a temperature, but the command

# aticonfig --odgt

shows

Default Adapter - AMD Radeon R7 200 Series
                  Sensor 0: Temperature - 72.00 C

Jeepers, that's...161 F.  Should I be worried?

How do I increase the fan speed?
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MAX] MaxCoin - Alive and Kickin' on: February 09, 2014, 07:34:14 AM
The maximum is 14, but the higher you go, the less responsive your desktop will be and the higher the GPU temps will be, so be sure to turn up the fan speed.

I see by bumping it up to 5, you doubled your hash rate.

Hmm...I tried it briefly at I=14 and saw about 105 Mh/s but a lot of messages about rejected work because of delay.

The card at I=5 is running at around 130 degrees Fahrenheit according to the rule of finger, that is, me touching its center backside with my finger.  Barely too hot to keep my finger on it.  I suppose I'll have to install gkrellm and see what it's running at?  Or is there an ATi command that will show its temperature?

In on 7950 sapphire oc 1100 1500, and 1 hr of mining off and on with diff pools, one pool miner crashing pc, the bat file someone posted above...

Can't help you, I'm a penguin.  A fellow Windows user will have to step in.
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MAX] MaxCoin - Alive and Kickin' on: February 09, 2014, 07:12:54 AM
I'd start by increasing the intensity.

Aha.  Figured it out.  G then I.  Here it is at intensity 5.  How high should I set it?

53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MAX] MaxCoin - Alive and Kickin' on: February 09, 2014, 06:58:01 AM
I have 0 accepted so far is that normal?

I suppose that depends on how powerful the equipment you are mining with is.   On my other machine, an i5 3570k overclocked at 4GHz, running minerd (the cpu miner) on maxcoinpool, I'm getting about one accepted-yay every 5 seconds.  That machine, using the CPU alone, hashes at about 2 Mh/s.

How do I increase intensity?--is it a command in the commandline for cgminer, or do I increase intensity using some sort of command in aticonfig?
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MAX] MaxCoin - Alive and Kickin' on: February 09, 2014, 06:51:10 AM
Lots of people complaining about 1GH but I have had an exceptional run with it.   Almost 3 hours since I started up the miner and only one reject so far.

Cheez-a-willy.  I decided I'd had enough of CPU mining at 550 kh/s, so went to my local computer store and discovered...they were sold out of Radeon r9's and nVidia GTX 7-series video cards.  They had a few GTX 660's, but those cost more than I could afford ($250), so I settled for a Radeon r7 260X ($129 after $10 rebate).  I just now finished compiling Catalyst and OpenCL and then cgminer-keccak, and started mining on dwarfpool.  And I was proud of what I was seeing (around 41 Mh/s), until I saw your post.

Can anyone give me further clues as to how I can improve my hashing rate with this modest r7?  I'm using Catalyst 13.4 and amd-opencl-13.35.1005.

I did all that last night, I think that went OK, I just get a libboost error that I can't sort out.

I had to add libboost 1.46.1 to my existing 1.49.1.  The 1.46.1 source code did not produce a libboost_threads library, so had to symlink my existing (1.49.1) libboost_threads as 1.46.1.

Apparently the devs hard-coded it to accept 1.46.1 and no other boost.

So you have to fool the application into thinking 1.49 is 1.46 ?
Fu-u-u-ck.

I just tried installing from deb package and it warned me that 1.46 will break 1.53
Wondering if I need to break someone's head.

No, don't try installing from the .deb.  What I did was, compiled boost from scratch.  Here, I'll give you the three boost libs you need, if you'll create the symlink you need.

Start a terminal and enter (adjust version number to what you actually have)

# cd /usr/lib
# ln -s libboost_thread.so.1.53.0 libboost_thread.so.1.46.1

and make sure the symlink has been created

# ls -lah /usr/lib/libboost_thread.so.1.46.1

and then download this:

(***EDITED wait, I fucked up, let me put a fresh version up***)
(***OK, try this one.  If you untar'ed the one I put up before, start a terminal and do this:

# cd /usr/lib
# rm -f libboost_filesystem.so.1.46.1
# rm -f libboost_system.so.1.46.1
# rm -f libboost_program_options.so.1.46.1
)

http://www.datafilehost.com/d/72275094

(maxcoinboostlibs.tar)

# md5sum maxcoinboostlibs.tar
e1823576edba04b563044083835756fa  maxcoinboostlibs.tar

and untar it in /usr/lib

# cd (wherever you downloaded it to)
# cp ./maxcoinboostlibs.tar /usr/lib
# cd /usr/lib
# tar -xvf ./maxcoinboostlibs.tar
# rm -f ./maxcoinboostlibs.tar

and joy should be yours.

Thanks, I looked for a libboost 1.46 in synaptic but not there, it's why I gave up on it.  I suppose I get a DEB package or the source. I'm a learn as you play guy so...symlinks...can i get away with just getting the deb package and installing that without more fandangles with symlinks ?

Depends. If you look in /usr/lib and you see some libboost libraries already, especially
libboost_thread.so.1.nn.n
then I can hook you up with the other three you need.  You can create the needed symlink
by opening a console in /usr/lib and entering
ln -s libboost_thread.so.1.whatever libboost_thread.so.1.46.1

Yeah I got it going in linux too - the only struggle was with the qt wallet which I would dearly love to have, but is just a fail.

The secret on my Linux to getting the qt wallet to not crash, was to follow the instructions in the build-cryptopp.md file which was included with the February 6 version of clients-master from the official github site.  Here it is in full, with double-spacing taken out:

Building Crypto++ on Linux
==========================
Install the dependencies
$ sudo apt-get install unzip

Set up the development folder by downloading the Crypto++ 5.6.2 source
$ mkdir cryptopp
$ cd cryptopp
$ wget http://www.cryptopp.com/cryptopp562.zip
$ unzip -a cryptopp562.zip

Uncomment the line "CXXFLAGS += -fPIC", by removing the preceeding #, inside GNUmakefile and build the library
$ make static dynamic test

Install it on your system
$ sudo make install

Troubleshooting:
----------------
If you have issues with an "Illegal instruction" error, as we experienced on one test machine, modify GNUmakefile and set the line "CXXFLAGS += -march=native" to "CXXFLAGS += "

___

Worked for me.

...So, just to check the basics
- notepad file
- saved as maxcoin.conf
- placed into \roaming\Maxcoin
- open command terminal
- drag maxcoind into terminal hit enter
- get error

Sorry, can't help you, I'm a penguin.  In Linux, maxcoin.conf gets placed in ~/.maxcoin where ~ is your user home folder.  maxcoind can be started from anywhere in Linux, but ~/.maxcoin is the subdir it looks for maxcoin.conf in.

Starting about 15 minutes ago, rocketpool was back up, for about 3 minutes.  I scored one yay.  Using the new minerd (cpuminer) from the official
https://github.com/Max-Coin/clients/tree/master/Maxcoin-linux32
repository.
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][MAX] MaxCoin on: February 07, 2014, 07:23:44 PM
When putting the conf file into the Maxcoin folder - is it really essential to give it read-only permissions ?
I've done everything I'm told to do and it just asks to set the password when I run maxcoind

The password that maxcoind gives you, you copy/paste into the password line in maxcoin.conf
