You can also setup an automated daily payout to multiple address, so an hacker that has access to your account won't find lot of btcs to steal

Lucky enough for me, I was already clearing out the bitcoin every night at 12 am, so the hacker only got a small amount, still very frustrating though. It was of course my mistake. Always set up all the security you can.
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: here so many coins.how to choose good coin?any good method? on: May 17, 2014, 05:14:14 PM
First be sure to check out the ANN thread here on bitcointalk to see if anyone is reporting bad things about it. They might not be true but youll be more aware. Check out when the coin came out, and how volatile it has been. What exchanges have it? What is the daily trade volume like?

Most coins are just pointless copies that do nothing for digital currencies except make the creator happy the coin got out there. Try to choose a coin that actually brings something unique to the world of digital currency. For litecoin it was Scrypt, for Doge it was the meme, for Vertcoin it was scrypt-N. Look for things unique like that. In the end, its all up to just what you would like your money to go into to support
43  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: GHASH.IO vs ELIGIUS.ST on: May 17, 2014, 05:03:16 PM
When I used to mine, after leaving BTCGuild, I went over to Eligius. The only reason though was because at the time GHASH was very close to getting 51% and I didnt want to contribute to that. While on Eligius though, I must admit the interface is not good at all, it feels like the payouts takes years, and the stats were not always accurate. The payouts however, seemed fairly decent. Plus side, payouts go to your wallet, they don't hang out on the website that can get hacked.

Then I moved over to GHASH, the interface is great, very user friendly, everything is fantastic and clear to read. Pros: payouts also seemed very good, payouts were fast, stats were more accurate than Eligius, but still not entirely. Cons: I actually had my accoutn hacked and got some bitcoin stolen from my account. They tried getting into my coinbase too, but I had two factor. If you go GHASH, get two factor, immediately. First thing you should do. Other than that, there are a lot of other services they have through CEX.io available to you. I would go GHASH if I started mining again.

Sorry for the late reply, not very active on this website at all, clearly.

Mind explaining what that asterisk besides "any" means?

The asterisk is because you can buy almost anything, it implies there are some things you can't buy with our service. Say you want to buy a car on eBay or something, we probably wouldn't be able to help you with that one.

Hmmm, a newbie with 5 posts asks me to install something that could steal all my coins....

No thanks.

If you don't trust it, then don't download it. You can still use our service through our main website. We wouldn't want you to download anything that made you uncomfortable. We have over 70+ people using the extension and have heard nothing but good things.

Ditto why would i install an extension in my browser when first i don't know how it works second the code is not open source third coming from a newbie (which is still considerable)----- Personally i won't install it anyway and sorry if iam wrong but i can smell something fishy here !! tell us how it works !!

You can find all information on how it works and a video explaining it on our main website. I am a newbie on here because I am not very active on this website, as listed above. I am however very active on the reddit digital currency community pages. You can find plenty of good words from users about our service on there, or see our testimonials on our website.

The extension has over 70 users, all reporting they were very happy with it, and would only make minor cosmetic changes to it, which we are working on.

Please explain what "smells fishy" about our service. We still are rather new, almost 2 months of successfully completing orders and building up our business. We understand there is always skepticism when businesses start out but we are doing everything we can to ensure people it is safe to use our service.

Also, why an extension? What else is needed apart of the URL/Product name?

While you dont need the extension, it is to make it easier for you so you don't have to go back and forth between us and our website whenever you want to buy a product online. You just find the product you want and click the extension, instead of going back and forth copying and pasting the url, product name, etc. The extension automatically pulls this data for you. It also saves your information locally on your computer, so you don't need to constantly fill in your information. After using it the first time, future orders are fairly instant. We hope to make it very sleek and better in the future.

Problem with browser extension, there has been known cases of malicious extensions that steals bitcoin wallets.

Yea unfortunately, but we can't let that stop our business from expanding and becoming easier for our users. We have over 70 people using the extension so far and have heard great feedback. Its a hard road uphill but our great users will help us get there.
45  Economy / Services / Instantly pay for any* product online with digital currency - First browser ext. on: May 04, 2014, 11:13:28 PM
Hello everyone!,

Last time I posted on here, it was to introduce The Crypto Depot service for the first time:

Quote
I am posting to tell everyone about our new website and service www.thecryptodepot.com. Here you can buy almost anything online with your choice of Bitcoin, Dogecoin, Litecoin and Vertcoin. Digital currencies are massively growing, and maybe, hopefully, one day we can have wide acceptance of our favorite crypto. But for now, one of the main questions people ask is what can I buy with these digital currencies?

Now I am here to announce The Crypto Depot's browser extension. The first ever browser extension that allows you to instantly pay for any* product online with your digital currency. We should have most information covered on the web page, but be sure to ask any questions you might have.

https://www.thecryptodepot.com/instantbuyextension/

We realize this isn't entirely the best time for extensions in the crypto world because of that one person using a bunch of extensions to steal your coins, but we are doing everything we can to ensure you are perfectly safe.

Nice site. How about shipment, who handles it

The site you choose to buy from. Like on our how to: page, if you want to buy skull candy headphones from target, that is exactly what you are going to get. They will be ordered from target and sent right to you.
47  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: The Crypto Depot- Buy Almost Anything with Bitcoin, Dogecoin, and Litecoin on: April 03, 2014, 04:03:28 PM
So basically, this is the same as using your credit card to buy something, selling your bitcoin at an exchange, then using that money to pay your credit card bill when it comes, except you're paying a middleman a fee to do it, and you have to risk the middleman ripping you off (which is ALWAYS a risk when it comes to this).

The point is you are able to pay for a product with your digital currency, there is no hassle for you. The way we purchase the products varies. We have no intention of ripping anyone off of course, and are trying to build up a trustworthy, successful company. We understand there is always a risk, which we hope is relieved in the future and people view us as nothing but trustworthy through the amounts of successful orders we have completed and happy customers who placed them.

Hi, Not a bad looking site.
But i can already forsee a problem, Maximum amount you can spend is a mere $100.

Hi! Thank you for the feedback, the $100 limit has been lifted!

I get it, your collecting the BTC, then paying the vendor in cash...

From the site: "Hit Place My Order! and you will be contacted by our next available sales representative to complete your order."

Is there not a way you can automate this?

We are working on ways to automate this in the future and make the process even simpler than it is! Thank you for your comment!

Site looks nice, nice idea also...

I wish you good luck starting your new business.

Thank you! Your opinion is very important to us!

I love supporting sites like these.

Be careful, bitspend.com had their bank account frozen doing this.

Thanks for the support! We should be all set, but thanks for the heads up!

Man this is great, things like this just sparks Ideas for bitcoin market place, hopefully soon there will be a new competitor against ebay.

Thank you! and hey dont spill our future business secrets Wink

Hello everyone!,

I am posting to tell everyone about our new website and service www.thecryptodepot.com. Here you can buy almost anything online with your choice of Bitcoin, Dogecoin, or Litecoin. Digital currencies are massively growing, and maybe, hopefully, one day we can have wide acceptance of our favorite crypto. But for now, one of the main questions people ask is what can I buy with these digital currencies? Well there are a number of smaller merchants and sites, as well as big ones like Overstock.

It may seem unappealing that this is more of a middle-man step than direct with the merchant. If it was directly with the merchant, then there would be no need for this service. Until there is wide acceptance at all merchants, there is this great alternative. Now you aren't stuck, unable to buy a product online just because the merchant doesn't accept digital currencies.

It's fast, very simple, and a great alternative.
