41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Newly Launched on: March 13, 2014, 11:50:43 AM
Despite the fees increase to 3% on NITRO the number of miners has been overall stable as is hashrate currently.
I guess they should probably be thinking about raising it again. Or maybe they should advertise the fact that should the number of miners not decrease sufficiently by a given %age/day then would increase it by another % or so.

An alternative would also be to contact the first 10-15 miners of the pool who account for 20% of the total hashrate. Would be faster to setup a seaprate pool for them which would equilibrate chances for smaller players.

Well because of the orphans in other pools, 3% fee is still not close to making a difference. Mining in nitro is still more profitable so people don't leave.

Well, here is the math to prove your correct.

In the last 24 hours at Leet:  91 orphans / 644 blocks found * 100% = 14.1%

I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to see that 3% is not going to make people move.

Meanwhile I lost about 20 ultracoins just yesterday, trying to do the right thing.  That's just one day of mining.

As you will see if you look too, there are many of us that are donating over at Leet, because we realize that Laterbreh can't run his servers for free.

3% fee on Utc.Nitro.org time to shift to other pool guys!

(lets hope that will solve the problem)

+1  Thanks Stuhlman

Stuhlman: This is not a personal attack on nitro, in fact, its becasue the service at nitro is so good that people like it, thats how it became the largest pool....

But to have all the hashpower centralised is not in UTC`s best interrest, that is why we are asking people to devide power over all the pools....

It has happened before that nitro was ddos and the market was flooded with coins, killing price. The effects of this are harmfull to UTC.

You say you have spend UTC on the developements which you have not been compensated for, however this is the first time i hear about it..
I hope you are not taking this personally since we are very gratefull for your involvement since day 1,Your service has been very helpfull.

having said that, i think promoting another coin here is slightly inapropriate

No not at All I do agree the hashrate is excessive on Nitro otherwise we would not close signups and raise fees. I do not take anything personal on these  forums, and I am happy to be part of this community. I did not spend any UTC on developing Ultracoin, I think you misread that part. But you were aware of me spending 13k UTC at one point. As far as promoting another coin, I am sorry if that came out it was inappropriate, I will edit my post and remove that. but it's my nature to promote good things case and point UTC.

As far as some of the concerns I am with you on some, is it dangerous and damaging no, is it our fault no. Can we resort to the extreme measures some here are suggesting!!! Absolutely not. We took the initiative many times, and Bumface himself can confirm that I asked him to take Nitro off the pool list till the hashrate drops, and he did. We closed signups many times, and we never said no to helping another pool. We have 4000 registered miners on Nitro ultra pool who might decide to come back and mine UTC any time they choose to.  More than 50% of our miners do not even read this board,  should we start raising fees to unacceptable levels, we would simply ruin our reputation. How would you like it if you went to sleep paying 2% pool fee and wake up to a 4% fee?

There has to be a better solution to this problem.  I don't want to be critical of Stuhlman, because he has helped the UTC community.  But, is it fair for those of us, who are taking it on the chin trying to spread the hash rate on other pools, to lose money daily mining this coin.  I'm a registered Nitro pool miner, but I choose to mine over at leet currently for the good of the coin and to your request on your site to spread the hash rate weeks ago.  Is it better to be fair to those on this thread, who support the coin daily, or to those who only mine and dump the most profitable coin?  There are quite a few of us in this situation and while you're filling your pockets, you're emptying mine.  I think that an announcement could be made at nitro about a raise in fees a day or so ahead of time to give warning to those mining there.  How long can we continue to receive orphan blocks?  Would this be acceptable to you on your site?
I think we as a community need to help solve this issue. Huh Huh
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Newly Launched on: March 12, 2014, 03:39:18 PM
OK EVERYONE GET OFF NITRO POOL RIGHT NOW ATLEAST HALF OF YOU GO JOIN OTHER POOLS.
WE ARE ALL STEPPING ON EACHOTHERS TOES HERE.
THE ENTIRE POINT OF CRYPTO IS TO BE DE-CENTRALIZED,

You are hurting other pools by mining on Nitro , what is so hard to understand?

If it doesn't change, the only pool left will be ...nitro because as it stands it is becoming increasingly difficult to mine on any other pool.

having such a large % of miners on one pool causes orphans on all other pools, other pools are solving work before nitro and their work is getting thrown out because nitro didn't get the memo.

As it stands tomorrow I have to stop mining this coin because
1) Any coin that has only one pool is essentially doomed to fail so there is no point in mining it.
2) mining on other pools atm sucks with the amount of orphans nitro is causing.

By mining on nitro, you are ensuring this coin dies.

+1

Nitro needs to raise fees to 15% to re-distribute the network a little, it just has to happen, there are other good pools out there, there is no reason for everyone to bum rush one single pool.

Hi. I am mining on ultra.leetpools.com, I am receiving very few coins with 170kh/s, When I am using coinwarz calculator I should be getting 80 coins a day but in leetpools I only got around 40-50 coins.
because he takes like 50% for him self..in first i was thinging that something was wrong with mu mashines ..but they are apsolutly fine ,no hw errors ,no disconets but always almost 50% less then i should get.

I can say that I've mined several different coins with leetpools and the operator (Laterbreh) is one of the most honest and hard-working pool operators that there is.
He has helped many many people with their script-jane setups and is a positive part of the UTC community.
It sounds like you mined one day and compared it to a the Coinwarz calculator and was disappointed.  However, did you look at the block find % for that 24 hour period.
I know as well as many of us know that every day mining is not the same.  Please use real facts and figures, before accusing hard-working people of stealing.
I think there are many in this community that use leetpools and will vouch for Laterbreh.
The pool operators are friends and I bet that if Biodragon over at Nitro heard about your accusations that he would vouch for him as well.

Hi. I am mining in leetpools since February 23 and I am getting 90% of what should I have mined. After the N factor changed, I got very few coins. I am not accusing anyone. I am just asking if anyone is experiencing this? and how many coins should I expect?

Did you change your settings following the nfactor change, if not you're probably getting a lot of rejects and hardware errors, which gives you a false hashrate.
Did you ask Laterbreh for help in the IRC chat or followup with a support ticket?

Its going on 2 days now and I have not gotten any Coins from mining.  Both my unconfirmed and confirmed balances are at 0.

Its the block time 40 hour block taking longer than normal.

we need more users to lower block time, even other pools have block times 9 hours ~ 100 hours.

A long block is usually followed up by a few shorter blocks, so now would be a good time to join.

I think someone just threw in the towel.  Look at the dumps at Mintpal.
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Newly Launched on: March 04, 2014, 05:17:36 AM
The "whale" on Mintpal is playing a game, so I decided to play.
I put a buy order on top of his pitiful .00010502 order and watched to see what would happen.
Boom, suddenly the buy wall goes up.  I cancelled my order, because I wanted to see what would happen.
The wall then goes all the way up to .00012000.  Just like this morning.
Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice and shame on me.
Just letting you know that the buy orders from .00010501 likely all belong to the same person, unless more than 1 person can claim their buy orders.
If you place a buy order above .00012000, you're going to get dumped on.
Be warned.  Sorry, but this is getting old.
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Newly Launched on: March 04, 2014, 01:57:36 AM
Another OT post - anyone else trading aurora? Last night I thought the price would drop overnight and it ended up doubling. Wondering what to do tonight. It wouldn't surprise me to see it a .25 btc (or higher) - although it could as easily drop down to .025.

Yep, already tripled 2.5x the investment

Me too!  Like I said I tried to add buy support for utc, but re-thinking that strategy.

It's a shame to, because other coins are getting destroyed by multipools.  Multipools drive out all of the small miners hoping for a decent payday.
UTC is one that the multipools will probably never mess with because of scrypt-jane and the changing nfactor.
This is definitely one of the things that separates UTC and needs to be shouted out.
I think there are plenty of miners that are really put off by the ever growing multipools.
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Newly Launched on: March 04, 2014, 01:39:10 AM
Also, about UTC+Mintpal, I think the two whales/bots are doing us a favour and helping keep the price stable.
Still holding in the 0.00012-14 range.

Yesterday I also asked cdev from CT about re-opening date, there's nothing official atm, it could very well take 3 weeks

About MintPal - you might be right but they sure screwed things up for little traders like me Sad

Yeah, dcgirl I got screwed as well.  I've moved to mining other coins to try to provide buy support for UTC.  It started well this morning, the buy wall was being built, and then got dumped on and no more support came.  I know I wasn't the only one in the buy wall, but after getting dumped on, it sure felt like I was fighting an uphill battle by myself.  Starting to re-think continued buying of UTC for now.  Someone wants to play games and just manipulate the hell out of the price to make a few pennies.  I might as well go join a multipool and set it and forget it.   Sad
59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Newly Launched on: March 03, 2014, 02:24:31 PM
I'm now taking a different approach. I've stopped mining UTC and instead moved to whatever is the most profitable coin for my rig with the intention of selling it to buy UTC. I'm not sure UTC being one of the more profitable coins to mine is actually helping us move the price up. Instead I'll happily buy the UTC these miners are selling to restrict availability
