41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 4 x 3060ti build on: February 07, 2021, 12:06:46 PM
Hi all,

Have been mining way recently on my 1070 which I have owned for the last four years and usually sits most dormant in my PC (other than playing dota Wink)  Have recently taken to mining ETH with this again and have been enjoying doing so.  I've never gone hard on this previously, but decided to build a "small" mining rig (4 x 3060TIs).  I wondered if anyone could suggest what I might need?

Struggling most with the motherboard currently, any time I go to any of the online stores, they seem to have hundreds to choose from.  When I google a suitable motherboard for mining, I always seem to get motherboardds for 6 - 20 cards.  And often can't find these anyway.

Possible parts:
PSU - Corsair 1000W - https://www.umart.com.au/Corsair-RM1000x-1000W-Power-Supply-Fully-Modular-80-Plus-Gold_33434G.html
Seems to have enough 8 pin for the 3060 and 6 pin for the risers (that i'll also need).

Mobo - ?
CPU - any cheap one compatable with Mobo I assume
Ram - 4gb of cheap stuff
ssd - 64gb just to power windows?

Could anyone make a suggestion please of what parts to pair with the four 3060TIs? Am I missing anything? And is anyone replying happy to receive a DM with further questions?

Thanks guys
dryath
If you are planning to build a rig with more than 6 GPUs on board it will be better to buy motherboards with enough pcie slots like the Asrock H110 Pro BTC which supports up to 13 GPUs at once, also RYX3060Ti only consume 120 watts per gpu, why buy a 1000watts power for the GPUs ? That's like 480 watts for the 4 cards, a 750 watt power supply would do

you will need atleast 8gb of ram
4 gigabyte of ram is more than enough for a mining rig with 6x or more GPUs in the mobo, I even have a old motherboard that I'm running 4x GPUs on with only 2gig ram stick, it works very well with no problem at all, only gaming requires such RAM space
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is GPU mining coming to an end? on: February 07, 2021, 11:52:50 AM
POS coins are worse than POW coins because majority of them that I know only lasted for couple years and they become worthless, it's why I feel that vitalik buterin won't change to POS algorithm and only staking will be available on different chain but the POW algorithm wi still continues
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is GPU mining coming to an end? on: February 07, 2021, 11:51:03 AM
It was the same stupid feeling I had on me years ago, I could have make some hell of a ETH bag but because people are spreading rumors that Ethereum is going proof of stake I decide to shut down all my plans to build a mining rig, till this day I still regret listening to those FUDs
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: nvidia rtx mining on: February 02, 2021, 06:24:32 AM
@philipma1957 says it all, I mean the nvidia counterparts, when it comes to AMD I believe all respects goes to RX5700XT, should have been radeon VII for me but the card gets issue from different buyers so it's not a good one, RX5700XT and RX6800XT are the best AMD miner, follow philipma1957 if you want Nvidia cards
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Forget ETH, what are some low market cap coins to buy you LAMBOS for $100? on: February 02, 2021, 05:21:15 AM
Whatever altcoin you choose there is no guarantee that you will make enough money to buy lambo, remember that we are not in 2017 kinda market right now, I will advise to go for popular altcoins because they are popular for how useful they've been, Polkadot is a good one to start with
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your most preferred approach to investing in cyrptos on: February 02, 2021, 05:18:36 AM
i would regard myself as a dynamic investor, i am solely focused on making money and i adopted which ever strategy that i believe is going to make me the most money at that specific moment.
for example, during the bitcoin rally, i took the position of a day trader, trading it intraday with some leverage, that way i can maximize my earning potential
i can also take the position of a long term investor if i see a good project with a lot of potential, then i can join its fund raising or buy into the project at listing, depending on all the information available.

HOW do you approach cryptocurrency investing.
I'm not that good with trading but this is a good time to mine some coins as mining is very profitable right now so I fired up my long abandoned mining rig and also build new one too, it's been good days for mining once again
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to confirm an erc20 transaction on: February 02, 2021, 05:14:56 AM
If you are not in hurry just wait the transaction will automatically stop and sender will get his eth back, what type of wallet you using? always make sure you use mid gas fee if you are using coinomi wallet, if you are using trust wallet you don't need to adjust anything as the wallet will warn you when doing so
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any recommended guide to build a 6-rig GPU for a 1st time beginner? on: February 01, 2021, 06:53:09 PM
As title states.

There's so many of them, maybe the community could recommend the most simple/best one I should go by?

Thank you in advance!
If you can get graphic cards at msrp then it's good to go, right now graphic cards are way too over priced because crypto mining is Profitable again, you can just build limited rigs right now and wait for later to build others, I went with 6 GPUs days ago and it's up and running already

Buy such a raiser and a 600 watt power supply.
I did not find in the specifications which power supply you are using now, but a power supply less than 400 watts will not be enough for your farm.
As a rule, BIOS setup is not needed.
You are right about the riser but not the watts, a single gtx 1660 super mines Ethereum algorithm at 80 to 85 watts, two of that gpu will do just fine on a 450watts power supply, that's not even up to 200 watts for the graphic cards only
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Shares rejected in phoenix miner on: February 01, 2021, 06:41:04 PM
Shares rejection can happen once in a while when mining but if it becomes too constant then you have overclocked too high, actually I see better shares been solved when using a graphic card that aren't overclocked, some times overclocking don't make sense
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Alt season start in 3...2...1 on: February 01, 2021, 06:38:38 PM
People who hold altcoins that are pumping will surely say we are in altcoin season but what about people like myself that sees no different in my portfolio compared to months ago now? Well to me altcoin season is just gearing up, we aren't there yet
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: do you do mining or staking? on: February 01, 2021, 06:21:07 PM
there is many staking or mining coins.
staking coin like Tron or Vechain
or software mining coin like Pie or Pando

i do software mining with pie and pando both but
i have Tron and Vechain more than them.
but i stock them in exchange. because it is not easy to respond quickly.
and.. Pie or Pando, i just gathering through app or browser. i just keep it still.
but i don't know whether it can be big money or not.
Pando was listed on Bittrex but Pie is not yet.(i think Pie have no plan to register on exchange)

i just want to hear your investing strategy with staking or software mining,
You are planning to make profits out of these coins isn't it? Either staking or mining you gotta make money out of them, it's good you engage in both, there is not much difference between the two, I do like mining not because of anything else but fun, staking is cool too if you go for the best coins, Tron is good and reliable
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Updates while mining cause reboots on: January 31, 2021, 03:43:43 PM
The truth is everyone can't use Linux for different reasons, they are hard to get used to unless you've been using them for a long time, you need to do research on ways to stop windows update, there is also settings in windows update thay can be used to ignore searching for any update
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AC cooling option a good one? on: January 31, 2021, 03:06:30 PM
It depends on your electricity, air conditioner only makes sense to me if you have free electricity to power it, I believe a AC draws up to 1500watts, that's way too much for a mining farm, it's better to go with other options like fans that consumes very low wattage
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bithumb Global open Amepay deposit. on: January 31, 2021, 03:04:23 PM
If you follow the channel the telegram team says will be listing on the Top Exchange at the end of February. I am still optimistic that Ame will be able to return to the price of 0.02.
Currently the team is busy working on the Amkart Web. Stay patient and follow developments. Trading at MXC in my opinion is a good step from the Team
MXC listing did nothing to amepay price, it's not even a month yet since the listing on MXC exchange and the price already dumped, it's not what I was expecting from the project this month, the next listing may not affect the price at all unless it's binance exchange listing
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bounty hunters are getting axed harder on: January 31, 2021, 03:02:00 PM
Don't expect all projects you promote to turn out well, that's why it doesn't make sense to promote one or two projects and expect good rewards from both, for better result you have to get rid of laziness and promote more projects, and make sure they are worth promoting too
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX5500XT BIOS Question on: January 29, 2021, 10:24:35 AM
Have you try checking techpowerup website for the bios? I believe that is the right place to look for RX5500xt bios, you can also go on youtube maybe you can find people messing around with different configurations that can increase the card hashrate
59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is this GPU ok for altcoin mining? on: January 29, 2021, 10:22:01 AM
They are ok for mining as you can get stable 30 megahash rate from each, I'm still planning to build a rig with this gtx1660 super, four or six pieces, before the six gigabyte space runs out you will definitely make more returns already
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Mining rig confusion on: January 29, 2021, 10:19:55 AM
Hi peeps, is it a good choice to build a mining rig with RX570 8gb in 2021? The reason why I bring this up is because I want to build a mining rig and my thought was with GTX1660 super but I luckily see RX570 8gb at cheaper price, like 150$ off from the gtx1660 super price @460$ each

The reason why I hesitate is because RX570 architecture is old, can't tell if miners update will keep supporting the card for another 8 years
