41  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: = ClockTweak = win32 command line clock/voltage tweaking tool on: July 25, 2011, 07:08:29 AM
clocktweak -o 5
will desply info on all gpus every 5 secs.
use -a number to select a specific adapter.

1.2V shouldnt be the limit most cards its 1.3V
im running 1.22 on my 6850

When I was having driver problems my voltage wouldnt changed. Had to un-install all amd drivers the go to 10.10 then upgrade that back to 11.6.
42  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Watercooling is amazing. on: July 25, 2011, 06:57:14 AM
Just used my profits iv made from mining to buy some more gear, Got water cooling kits this time.
Saw there was a special on for Antec KUHLER H2O 620, CPU cooler so bought 2 of them over the weekend before reading any review since stock was limited and they were selling quickly.

While it was coming got a chance to read review on it and it didn't support my cpu socket so that got me a bit worried but once it arrived today it wasn't too hard to fit to my 939 socket.
Just needed to trim off the extra hole bits so they didnt short anything out and bend the mounting bracket in a bit.
Getting it onto the cpu was a bit harder, but got it to fit using a piece of coper with holes drilled to mount it to the gfx card then some more holes drilled to fit the water cooler on.

Well here are my results with temps.

CPU:
Was running a Thermaltake Blue Orb 2
Idle temp 30C full load 55C

Now with the water cooler
idle temp 11C full load 25C

GPU
Stock sapphire cooler hd6850 1.22V 1040mhz core.
Idle temp 36C full load 73C

Now with the water cooler
idle temp 15C full load 38C

Dont have any ram sinks yet but ram only gets warm to the touch mining but will need some before I game with this set up.
Also need to get a better cooler for my chip set since its getting up to 55C at full load since the cpu cooler isnt blowing onto it now
43  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Official CGMINER thread - CPU/GPU miner in C for linux/windows/osx on: July 23, 2011, 08:36:42 AM
You should have mentioned we need the Microsoft SDK for mstcpip.h as well as probably a few new stuff to the configure line.

Which SDK,
IV got the 2008 and latest ones from visual studio installed.

1.4 doesnt work on windows 7

says
failed to int gpu thread 0
opengl genurated a 0 sized binnary may need to restart computer.

Restarted did same thing.
Going back to last version and it works fine again.

------

Running with no options set it works.

need to put -y
46  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: heads up: HD6xxx memory does NOT actually underclock on: July 22, 2011, 10:36:55 PM
It can be underclocked, its a bug in gpuz.
Everything else will show its underclocked, and doing bandwidth speed tests on the card shows it to be underclocked.
47  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I can reduce my electricity by 30% with commercial connection on: July 22, 2011, 09:34:22 AM
Or you could make a non-profit company and do bit coins as your hobby lol
48  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 100% CPU with 2 cards on: July 22, 2011, 06:34:01 AM
What miner are you running,
Im running CGMiner.
With 1 card it was only using 0-1% cpu
2 cards running from same process it uses 99% or if set to cpu0 49%
2 cards running from 2 processes it uses 15-20% per process set to cpu0 so total 40%
2 cards running from 2 processes and a 3rd process for the cpu miner and them all set to cpu0 back to 49% but I get an extra 0.8mhash from the cpu with no slow down to the gpu and no extra heat or power usage at the wall.
49  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 100% CPU with 2 cards on: July 22, 2011, 06:02:50 AM
Problem just started with me when I added my second card, Setting affinity to only 1 cpu helps if you have a multi-core cpu so then its atleast limited.

Also I fired up a CPU miner on that same core, Doesnt slow down the gfx cards at all and atleast the 99% useage is getting sent somewhere productive.
50  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 2 x 6990's - Faulty Core???? on: July 22, 2011, 06:00:12 AM
Also possible its not getting enough power so underclocking its self.
51  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Should trading be closed on weekends?! on: July 22, 2011, 03:22:46 AM
Weekends are the best tradding times.

Saturday here = Friday in US
Monday here = Sunday there
So sell on Saturday which always seems to be a high.
Buy on Monday which always seems to be a low.
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mining Namecoins is now 2x more profitable than Bitcoins on: July 22, 2011, 02:03:47 AM
Any one that jumps to namecoins now will be disappointed.
A lot of people have changed to them so the market will get flooded soon and there price will come right down while pushing bitcoins price up.
53  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Official CGMINER thread - CPU/GPU miner in C for linux/windows/osx on: July 22, 2011, 01:36:21 AM
Just added another card to my PC so now im running 2 in same machine.
CPU usage went from 0-1% (using 1 card) up to 90% (using both cards)
Running 1 process for each card brings it down a bit (15-20% cpu per process) but its still higher then when there was just the one card in the PC.

Had a look though a few of the posts to see if there was a fix and running it with affinity to core 0 at least limits its and brings power usage down a bit but its still using more power then it should be.

Windows 7 32bit.
SDK 2.4
Catylist 11.6 running dummy plugs.
54  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Who determines whose fault a PSU failure is? on: July 22, 2011, 01:22:13 AM
If its under warranty they will replace it unless it was damaged due to neglect.
Which is:
full of dust (you job to make sure its in a clean environment)
damaged wires (such as sitting on hot parts or being cut to change plugs)
Overheated (its your job to make sure parts don't over heat)
Parts burnt out due to being over maximum rating,
55  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The definitive answer to how much bandwidth does bitcoin use. on: July 21, 2011, 10:55:38 PM
Mining iv used 31MB this month so far with 2PC
Installed the bitcoin client and my wallet on my laptop which hadn't ever been on and it took 8hours and 957mb to get upto date with all transactions.

57  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 6970 running with default settings too hot on: July 21, 2011, 07:41:30 AM
Dont use the powertune since that isnt just lowering the voltage it lowers the clock as well.
Use something like trixx or afterburner and lower the voltage there.

Lower the memory speed increases hashs most the time.
Lowers temp
And lowers poweruseage.
58  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 6970 running with default settings too hot on: July 21, 2011, 07:36:16 AM
Get another fan (such as a desktop fan) and take the side off your case and blow the air onto the card.
Undervolt the card. If your not overclocked you should be able to go down 50-100mv before stablity problems arise.
59  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: VPN for 1-2BTC? on: July 21, 2011, 07:18:20 AM
Instead of username/password maybe have just a username which is the address you sent payment from and password can just be blank.

Or put it in a better box which would contain any fire if there was one and would keep any pests out.
