I don't disagree that most of the coins added SegWit just for marketing. But Artbyte has the clearest purpose of any coin to add SegWit. Opening up the technology for smart contracts enhances Artbyte's mission and brings it to all types of artists, not just musicians (as musicoin did as an Ethereum token). It is not just the Artbyte Music Store that will benefit, but writers, actors, visual artists, film makers - all artists will benefit

As long as you have your private keys you are good. Has anyone heard for sure what Coinbase's position will be?

Here is a quote from Artbyte's announce thread:Why is ArtByte so excited about SegWit?
There are many benefits, Lightning Network, MAST, Atomic Swaps, etc., but since ArtByte is the dominate crypto for artists around the world,
MAST and smart contract capabilities will be the main benefit to artists. From recent press on ArtByte:
"One of the biggest problems in the art world today is the fair distribution of income for creative rights holders. This includes musicians, writers, film makers, painters, photographers, actors, etc.
Segwit opens the door to new technologies capable of solving this problem. In the past only Ethereum type coins could help in this issue"

Artbyte (ABY) is certainly a hidden gem. Launched in May 2014 to support artists of all types, strong community of real users, very active devs, strong roadmap, enabling SegWit to provide smart contract capabilities for artists. Trades on Bittrex and four other exchanges. https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/applebyte/#markets

I saw an article about atomic swaps with Bitcoin. After segwit is enabled, will Artbyte be able to make atomic swaps with Litecoin and Bitcoin?
I have not seen the article, but I assume if ABY can do atomic swaps with Litecoin, it would work with Bitcoin as well.

What percent has to be achieved for activation? I recall Litecoin was 75%

The forum and Reddit have a lot of activity. Looks like aby haves a very active community.

Looks like only 10 more days to activation

If you hold your BTC on Coinbase, you could have a problem. They have not said if they will support both coins in a split. Just like what happened with Bitcoin Cash.
|
|
|
It is very simple to get started: - Buy BTC on Coinbase - Open exchange account (there are several good exchanges) - Send BTC to your exchange account - Buy the altcoins you like

Is SegWit really a benefit to small market cap coins?
I think a handful of them added SegWit when the market was hot back in the spring. But what are they using it for?
ArtByte is the only one I have seen with a roadmap for using the new features, such as Lighting & MASK for payment channels, smart contracts, protecting digital rights.

I see that more than 20 artists are being tipped each day, so that means bonuses of 1600 aby a day are being paid out!

I have downloaded the WIN, MAC, and Linux wallets. All are very fast and the built-in pool miner is much easier for noobs.

This is one of those really slow burn coins out there. I actually remember trying it out a few months back but I think I never got the first few coins to tip artists. I think what happened was I eventually found out it was a Christmas giveaway which was over for a long time. Such noob for me.
Very smart move to go for SegWit. Litecoin should really get a good pat on the back for paving the way!
You should try one of the new tipping events Artbyte is running now on Reddit & Twitter. On both of them, when you tip, you get double back. http://forum.artbyte.me/forum/57-artbyte-artist-festivals/
