ClearingHouse is an embedded consensus system that relies on proof-of-publication. In laymans terms, ClearingHouse transactions occur on the Viacoin blockchain. The ClearingHouse transaction messages are encoded inside viacoin transaction for which you need viacoin. So it's not that there are "fees" for ClearingHouse transactions, it's that you cannot write CH messages in the blockchain without viacoin.
Blockchains themselves are not money, they are speech because they are the perfect way to publish information and establish order using decentralized consensus: in laymans terms, blockchains allow you to prove the order in which messages are recorded: e.g. Alice paid Bob, then Bob paid Charlie - it's this particular magic that solves the so called "double spend" problem. Money is an application of blockchains, as it notary, smart property, gambling etc. and anything else that requires the ability to establish the order in which events occurred in an immutable way.

exactly. no one can predict how much lower it will go.. exactly why one should sell and take a small loss now, rather than holding and hoping.
funny you mentioned BTSX. one driver of the price is china. check out BTSX/CNY. lot's of volume there. if viacoin had a VIA/CNY pair with that kind of volume, i wouldn't worry about holding. but now?
I remember this large holder who dumped around 20k - 30k viacoins last August 27 to the price of 20k. Right after that, he tweets that we should expect Via to continue the downtrend down to 15k. It was a long downtrend that started August 14 (from 60k to 20k). I had buy orders at 15k and 18k. It was never filled. That was the lowest price since August 27. Would you like to be the last to dump? It's either you sell early and hope for a large correction or you hodled and buy more at a much lower price.I think the right time to totally exit a coin is when it has fully reached its potential or greatest hype. Via is still young and so many features waiting to roll out. I suggest you sell after September 26 if you're itching to exit. I know this is hard to do for some, but: ALWAYS BUY LOW AND SELL HIGH. Never panic sell. Panic selling is reserved for scam coins.AGREED! Like offering different risk packages with JLT coin?
I think it might get a bit complicated, especially if you have two sets of "clients" who are expecting returns. Lets say a long term trade doesn't pan out properly, but then the fewer short term trades make some headway- the people with stake in the longer-term trade might feel hard done by. Just a thought on possible outcomes....

I agree Would it not be beneficial to just split the portfollio into different risk segments which are governed buy the length of trade? i.e 20% long-term 30% Medium term and 50% short-term etc... I am fairly new to trading as such however that, to me, sounds more straightforward then the potential over complications of running two seperate schemes. The fact is if someone doesnt want to invest in the periods that JL stipulates are to be traded then they would need to find another system that works best for them. I have/had 3 orders of 100 VIA - i am unsure if they have filled as yet - i will be checking later. Looking forward to reviewing progress in a months time. Good luck |

Funds are currently in the midst of a volatile trade, so I rather not open it up with assets potentially whipsawing all over the place but NAV remaining constant. I will re-open it upon completion of this trade though, which might be in a couple days from now.

Introducing the JLTradingCoin on ClearingHouse (clearwallet.co).I have created a ClearingHouse token with 100,000 total tokens and put 50,000 of them on the ClearingHouse Exchange. I will start the exchange rate at 1 VIAcoin for 1 JL coin. Going forward though I believe I will have to set the NAV based on each days asset appreciation and depreciation. To purchase JLTRADINGCOIN's you first buy some VIA coin at Bittrex or Poloniex and then transfer into the clearwallet.co ClearingHouse site address. From there you just purchase as much JLTRADINGCOIN as you wish ( at first I will stress that you should only send a minimal amount because I am going to figure out the best way of doing distributions, withdrawals and deposits) and I'll do a daily sweep of new buys and try to do a twice-weekly sweep of any JLTRADINGCOIN token sell orders. My plan for now is to do a bi-weekly distribution of profits. All you have to do is hold JLTRADINGCOIN and the ClearingHouse system will automatically distribute VIAcoin to your address. You Must Agree to these Risks before purchasing JLTRADINGCOIN: 1) This trading plan could absolutely fail and your principal could be lost. I REPEAT, DO NOT BUY AN AMOUNT THAT YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE. Second, as far as a true donation "fee" for me goes, I'll stick with a flat 5% of profits when I pay them out bi-weekly (every other week). I will also have a high-water mark like I mentioned whereby I'm not taking a "fee" unless we're making higher-highs and sending out profits. So I don't get any true benefit here unless the thing performs. I think it makes sense to post trades after-the-fact versus during just because I don't want to give any 'nefarious' folks a chance to dump on the JLTRADINGCOIN longs on purpose. Lastly, I think since a couple of you are 'large fishes' so far in the JLTRADINGCOIN, instead of maintaining a twice-weekly window for withdrawals it'll be easiest at first to just PM me that you want to do a withdrawal and what amount. I'll try to post the VIA buy at the JLTRADINGCOIN NAV then on ClearingHouse within 24 hours but likely sooner. I typically check out my PM's at least once a day and usually multiple times a day; same with this board. Eventually it'd be cool to just let the ClearingHouse market exchange takeover for doing that (ie if you wanted to sell JLTRADINGCOIN you'd post a sell and wait for someone else to fulfill your sell. It would likely be at a discount to NAV). And with regards to withdrawals, the JLTRADINGCOIN will need to be priced at a NAV (Net Asset Value) that makes sense; so if profits go up and there are more assets for the same amount of JLTRADINGCOIN in the market, your JLTRADINGCOIN's are worth more than the 1 JL to 1 VIA exchange and if there are losses, your 1 JL would be worth less than 1 VIA. It would be cool to post a daily NAV of what exactly 1 JLTRADINGCOIN is worth in VIA. For now though it's pretty early to do that. Currently, though, since I liquidated the VIA earlier today and again a couple hours ago at higher VIA/BTC prices than where VIA/BTC is at now, there is a small gain of 2% (NAV is 1.02) and it's completely due to exchange rate benefit because I haven't taken on any position (yet) with the exchanged BTC. Anyhow, I don't know about you guys but this is pretty freaking interesting so far. And it's only day one... And I just sent over the last 200 VIA buy-in, so that's 2,440 VIA withdrawn today and 2,414.887 JLTRADINGCOIN's purchased (I think 20 or so of my own personal VIA that I'm using to pay ClearingHouse fees was withdrawn somewhere in there. Someone was trying to say MSC would disappear, Peter Todd quite rightly said that is rubbish. His comment is just to say that in terms of market share, MSC is a competitor and a strong one that is not going away. In my opinion it is clear that the information provided by BtcDrak is nothing short of excellent and the written points by CreationLayer is a very accurate summary of Drak's video blog. Given the fact that Drak and his team must be under considerable pressure with more urgent issues therefore not being able to fully focus on a detailed written update could be seen as a minor issue at this stage
Although updates are and will soon become more essential given the choice I would MUCH prefer him spending his valuable time addressing core development and strategic issues than being clustered with minor update concerns.. Especially if this is directly drawing his time away from more pressing issues.
The 20 minute long update video that has been provided is clear, concise and efficient. He has explained in basic terms, easy enough for even me to understand, why the project was necessary whilst providing a glimpse at its raw potential, informing us that their are big players circling and offering points that major game changing news will follow soon. There is not a hint of hard selling or BS just straight informative facts.
Clearly too much hype at this stage is certainly not necessary… However a working product, reiteration and ensuring that there is a clear understanding of the overall direction is what should be essential
Just because Xcoin or Ycoin devs believe it is necessary to release a street map of possible goals achievements ect, following the herd is not always the best thing (in this case breaking the mould of shite shor-term p&d coins should be) – this could be the game changer in next gen crypto – lead the way not follow
Why waste more time with a “road map” right now when it is evident that the roads are currently being built but due to the extensity of construction it is not always going to be known when they will be finished. At this stage we should be thinking a month/s or so ahead not just a week or two…
We should be thinking along the same lines of Masternode and others on how best to back this beast up! What can be done to assist and how the word can be spread at all levels (fact not fiction) – although coin price is important at this stage focus should be on the fundamentals as I’m more than confident the returns will flow as and when.

Well maybe not seen, and I agree that communication can (and will be improved). Would love to hear your suggestions. I can't say I've been connected to the alt markets lately. It is very quiet overall and the lower volumes bore the active traders looking for action. I bet that is where a lot of the dumps have come from. Regardless, there just seems to be very little Viacoin presence on the scene. No one doubts that it is a solid contender for a top coin, but it just sort of stops there. In the beginning there was a story and a vision, but it just seems as though that has gotten clouded a bit. Do it your own way if you choose to, but some actual marketing would be great to see. There is consolidation going on...people are tired of shitcoins and are trying to see who might remain. You've got to fight to stay relevant in this defining stage...too much is at stake. Even established billion dollar companies advertise just to remind people they are there and to keep the brand out front. Nothing wrong with it. Substantively I'd like to see a roadmap (yes) of near-term goals, ECDs, maybe a weekly or bi-weekly blog-post of some accomplishments/challenges/apps in work, etc., some further color as to what kind of big players are seeking out Viacoin and why? Are you considering anything? It may be premature to discuss, especially if you've entered into a confidentiality agreement, but surely there are some things you can share. I was involved with Cloakcoin early on, never expected it to go as high as it did. Though I think they went too far in communications, I never felt like they were not busting their asses every day and trying to deliver on the next goal. Even with the giant set-backs recently they've been very transparent. Again, I think they go too far and seem to want to satisfy every investor thirst for information, but there has to be a balance. My fairly noob perspective is that it has only been a couple of weeks and based on the key data there is still plenty of time grow fearful - I bought in at IPO and consistently all the way down to today.. I’m currently loaded up with both VIA & XCH and I see this as an investment not a trade.. Instead of focusing on the price I am currently staying focused on the fundamentals of the investment… Based on what I currently know I have no doubt in Drak and his team’s ability that there are likely to be greater things to come. However in the meantime maybe more of a community could be built/formed on this (. Most of my solid info comes from Drei’s tweets (@drei4u) (cheers for your help) – his VIA related “did you know” style tweets has made it easier for me to gain more of a grasp on the magnitude of the potential of this investment I am unsure if I need to know what is actually coming up immediately next as i currently like catching the coins that slip from the impatient hands, however it could be good to take this slow-time to re-iterate the benefits of VIA/XCH in very plain jargon free English highlight what has been achieved and a basic outline of what is likely to next I believe that there could be more quirky material put out that helps explain this as we may believe that we have the best product known to man however if we don’t consistently get the message across clearly a bloody dog with a rocket stuck up it’s arse could win the race regardless of which is better.. I hate that bloody dog and the moon.. At this stage a simple stupid approach could be the key –. This is where I believe there could be a slight weakness in this currently as too many people are asking the same questions and still not understanding. I would consider myself as being reasonably well educated however I still found it considerably difficult, without extensive reading, to grasp the basics of this. I believe that the true gravity of what is being built needs to be able to be portrayed in a couple of short paragraphs with possible illustrations Most people know that the team is amazing, most also know that there will be amazing things coming over the next few weeks/months etc. However many (including myself) still don’t actually fully understand what is so amazing about the amazing facts that we believe sound so amazing i.e tree chains, decentralized exchanges etc. in basic terms what will this eventually mean for everyday life? How can these be used? Why would anyone want to use them. What is so special about a Dec-exchanges? Short-term and long term benefits. The minority may already understand however the majority will eventually need to be convinced why they should sell their shivcoins and buy in… Simple Stupid |
