1. I never claimed that I "invented the wheel" or that I'm the only one using chatbots to detect scams.

I don't think anybody is using chatbots to detect scams. You mean you present some posts to a chatbot and ask it, "Is this a scam?" Since this isn't what they are designed to do, I don't think the results would be of much value. This is simply another instance where its a better idea to use your own brain.

11. I'm here to fight scammers and help protect users from falling victim to scams.

That part is nice.
43  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: File a case in Finland remotely against a Bitcoinscammer on: July 02, 2024, 03:28:13 AM
So you're referencing the former localbitcoin's head of marketing. You probably won't have any luck there as there are likely several complaints already being lodged against that company. Its going to cost you a pretty penny to work with a Finnish lawyer, but that's about your only shot.
44  Other / Meta / Re: retiring an account in the age of AI on: July 02, 2024, 03:08:13 AM
I agree with the no red paint options... hypothetically speaking, its gonna be a while before people start training models for the sake of imitating Bitcointalk accounts, and there's ways to protect your account from that possibility, as others have mentioned.

It was a shame what happened to Bruno's account. In that case I think it got sold to a person that pretended to be him, but they did a poor job & didn't take any money. Still its sad that his legacy ended like that, with a -14 trust rating.

Here's why I'll never take that guy seriously:

He made a business move, now he's going to spend every waking moment trying to support it. That's all that is going on here. He's not a savior, just another narcissist CEO. No one should engage in idolatry; especially when it comes to bitcoin.

I'm OK with it taking my job so long as I get some kind of Universal Basic Income as a result.

lol - do you know what happens to livestock when they are no longer useful?  😮

I'm just kidding... I don't have a job, so there's nothing for it to take.

He made the video private. Somebody must have pointed out something about it in the comments. Not that owning the domain means anything about anything.
48  Economy / Reputation / Re: Chatbots: The Future of Scam Hunting on: July 01, 2024, 02:00:52 AM
If I see something that looks like it was written by a robot, I'm not going to read it... My eyes glaze over and I immediately resume scrolling. The poster couldn't be bothered to write their own text, so why should I bother reading it?
49  Other / Meta / Re: Should this forum ban the use of chatbots and AI entirely? on: June 29, 2024, 02:48:40 AM
Re topic -- no absolutely not. Don't resist change, and don't oppose improved technology from being used.

How is it an "improvement" if the poster is copy/pasting incorrect information, or garbage that nobody wants to read?

The most prolific poster is quite literally a bot that posts price charts every hour.

And everybody knows they're bots. There's a difference between that and implicitly taking credit for something you didn't actually write.

Several of the forum's most merited users often use scripts to create, and post some of their posts.

And they are their own words -- again, there's a difference.

Conversely, if a post contains useful information that is relevant to the topic, there isn't any reason why it should be disallowed just because it was created by a LLM.

In this thread, there's already a moderator who considers these posts to be plagiarism, just like many of us do. Its fine if somebody wants to post AI-written text so long as they make it clear that's what their doing. Why should someone be exempt from the plagiarism rule when it comes to AI text?

51  Other / Meta / Re: Should this forum ban the use of chatbots and AI entirely? on: June 29, 2024, 12:57:17 AM
Hey everyone,

So I've been using a chatbot to help me detect scammy behavior and provide arguments against scammers

Chatbots don't do this... Relying on AI to make conclusions about whether something is a scam or not is a bad idea. Its the equivalent of posting false information about bitcoin in the technical boards... the info that the AI learns from may be incorrect, or it could misinterpret factual information on its own.

You may have good intentions, but pasting stuff straight from a bot should be discouraged. What's so hard about writing using your own words? As others have suggested, if you are terribly worried about spelling and grammar then you should use something like Grammarly. Nobody would mind that.

Damnit everything is taking hits right now, NFT collections are spawned in droves to make a quick buck for whoever makes them but no one is buying all the rubble.

IMO it just makes things like SoG look all the more appealing to collectors -- made years before everyone and their grandma was launching their own Furry Squirrels collections. What the market really has to worry about is when people stop caring about NFTs altogether.

Means crypto trends got lame and whack even before they have reached any maturity.

Sad but true. A lot of it has always been lame and whack; now it is lame and whack on corporate steroids.
55  Economy / Reputation / Re: Chatbots: The Future of Scam Hunting on: June 28, 2024, 02:10:59 AM
Do you use a manual typewriter to create a letter?   I feel the same way you do, but people will use things that make their life easier.

Using a computer keyboard instead of a typewriter is far different than using a chatbot, as the bot is doing the brunt of the thinking. The output is not from the poster, who is usually taking credit for it. If people want to use AI to write their posts for them, that's fine, but its dishonest not to let it be known from the start.

Its kind of the same thing as an artist using AI to generate an image for them and then saying "I made this myself."
56  Economy / Reputation / Re: Chatbots: The Future of Scam Hunting on: June 28, 2024, 01:54:15 AM
Using AI to write your posts for you is extremely insincere. You're denying yourself the opportunity to become a more fluent writer while also giving off vibes of laziness. I suggest you write your posts in your own words. Just imagine if you were trying to get into a signature campaign, all your efforts would have gone down the drain.

I just came across this user, any thoughts? His posts don't make too much sense.

User: ditec_wrogn

Its disappointing to see this account boosted to DT2 already as its clearly an alt account. I'm using the new Copyleaks plugin to check some of his other posts (it would be annoying to see it on every website but for this purpose its ok).

Post #1:

What happened: A user named COBRAS promoted a scam project for brute forcing wallet.dat passwords. Later, COBRAS reported the scam project, but when I asked them to take responsibility for their involvement, they refused. This raises serious questions about their credibility and motives for reporting the scam.

Reference Link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5500014.msg64216304#msg64216304

Amount Scammed: The scam project did not involve any direct financial loss for me, but it could potentially harm people's computers and electricity if they join the pool and provide their computing power.

Payment Method: N/A

Proof of Payment: N/A

PM/Chat Logs: N/A

Additional Notes: If you agree that user COBRAS is a scammer, please support the flag on their profile at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;flag=3317

I would like to report fraudulent activities involving user "COBRAS" and a pool for brute forcing wallet.dat passwords. The user "COBRAS" has previously advertised this scam project and served as its PR manager, which raises serious questions about their credibility and motives for reporting the scam now.

Red Flags:

  • "COBRAS" has previously advertised this scam project and served as its PR manager, which raises questions about their credibility and motives for reporting the scam now.
  • The project promises a super income for those who join the network, which is a common tactic used by scammers to lure unsuspecting victims.
  • The project claims to have 100 GPUs for recovering wallet.dat passwords, but there is no evidence to support this claim.
  • The project's GitHub repository lacks detail and transparency, and many of the technical details go over my head, so I may not have caught all the red flags.
  • "COBRAS" has refused to take responsibility for promoting the scam project and has not provided any evidence to support their claims.
  • There is no proof that the project actually performs wallet recovery, and the use of GPUs for this purpose may be used for illegal activities, such as brute forcing or hacking someone else's Bitcoin, which is a criminal activity.
  • "COBRAS" has received trusted feedback in the past, which suggest that they are not trustworthy. For example, they have been accused of attempting to scam people by selling a fake exploit or attempting to find co-conspirators to "attack signatures".

Based on these red flags, it's clear that "COBRAS" has engaged in fraudulent activities. Their actions are unacceptable and they should be held accountable for their actions. I urge the Bitcoin community to take action against "COBRAS" and to protect themselves from potential scams and fraudulent activities.

Let me be clear: promoting a scam project is not a victimless crime. "COBRAS" had a responsibility to ensure that the project was legitimate and above board. By promoting this scam, they have not only contributed to the harm caused to other people who participated in the project, but have also damaged the reputation of the Bitcoin community as a whole.

Note:: I'm not an expert and many of the tech details of this project go over my head. Therefore, I may not have caught all the red flags.

It's interesting that you completely ignore all the red flags and accusations of scamming, and instead focus on promoting your "voting" system using hashrate. But let's be real, this is just a front for you to get free Bitcoin. It's clear that you're not actually interested in revealing Satoshi's identity, but rather in enriching yourself. It's a shame that you're using the community in such a way, and I hope people see through your scheme and don't send any Bitcoin to the addresses you provided.

Additionally, I would like to remind you that using hashrate as a way to vote is not a proper way to make decisions in the community, it's not transparent, and it's easily manipulated.

I would advise you to stop this scam and come up with a better way to contribute to the community if you truly want to be a part of it.

Post #3:

I took a look at your advertising thread and I have to say, it's full of red flags and questionable technical details.

First of all, you're proposing a cross-chain DeFi derivatives protocol that enables anyone with a WalletConnect interface-compatible non-custodial crypto wallet to create, deploy, and trade dynamic controlled options and other advanced derivatives and hyper-derivatives. That's a pretty big claim, and it's not something you can just throw out there without any proof or experience. Where's your team? What's your background? Have you even worked on a blockchain project before?

Another thing that caught my eye is that you're looking for financial backers and investors. Uh, excuse me? Are you trying to scam people out of their money? Because that's what it sounds like.

And let's not forget about the technical details. You mentioned Ethereum and TON blockchains, but how exactly are you planning to integrate with them? Are you going to use smart contracts? If so, how are you going to ensure their security and privacy? You didn't mention any of that.

Lastly, the fact that you're looking for early adopters in a forum like this is just laughable. Why not launch it on a reputable DeFi platform or a blockchain network? Oh, that's right, because you're trying to scam people.

In conclusion, your advertising thread is full of red flags and questionable technical details. If you want anyone to take you seriously, you need to provide more information about your team, your background, and the technical details of the project.

Good luck with your scam! 😜

Instead of turning to ChatGPT for wisdom, you should ask your buddy CSW how to forge a document. He is an expert in that field. Just dont expect to win any court cases with them. Hahaha!

Craig also used ChatGPT in his forgeries tho, so it is indeed something out of his playbook.
