A lot depends on amount of miners you have and which miners.  Also you might look into exhaust.  Moving air in and out in bigger operations is good.  I HIGHLY suggest not using that five gallon cooler.   Water around miners sounds like a horrible idea if something goes wrong.

Wouldn't the Evap Cooler have the same problem?

Juan,

How are you guys handling the Coupons/Refund based on Bitmain's annoucement?

1)   10.0% worth of coupon for the B1~B3 customers. This is the default option.
2)   7.7% worth of refund. We will release a function on our official website for application of this option. If you have bought from our resellers, please contact them and provide your Bitcoin address.

I'm noticing on the units, they have temps from 47-54. I cranked the box fan to full speed to help, but with 6 more units otw, I'm worried this is gonna get a little too hot.

Is it ok to use something like this? With the Water frozen in the gallon jug?

http://fivegallonideas.com/air-conditioner/

My setup as it stands now. I need to clean up the wires, but waiting for the other units to show up.
45  Other / Beginners & Help / Spot Cooling? Antminer Farm on: July 13, 2014, 03:12:09 PM
I've got several Antminers, with more on the way and the cooling I have for the 4 units i'm worried will not be enough.

The room they are in now gets a little uncomfortable and with the added units i'm afraid will be unbearable. After reading the "make your own server PSU" thread I felt silly about buying some PC PSUs and wanted to do more research before I dived into something.

I'm considering some spot cooling options for the office, (something like these)

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/spt-evaporative-air-cooler-white/5868549.p?id=1218697267745&skuId=5868549&st=categoryid$abcat0907004&cp=1&lp=2

or

Does anyone have any experience or suggestions on these? I'm in the Austin,TX area and i'm sure it'll start pushing over 100deg soon so I figure I should do something.
The units have been running fine thus far (4 S1s). But with 4 S1s and 2 S3's otw, i'd like to make sure it stays that way!

Thanks for your suggestions.
46  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: New prices for Zeus Miners~~~~~~ Zoomhash.com on: July 11, 2014, 07:59:34 PM
Not that my word probably carries a ton of weight, but I've bought through Zoomhash. They also treated me good when the ZEusMiner I ordered via them was canceled by Zeus (during batch1) with a full refund.

I plan on ordering via Zoomhash again when I get my 2nd Gblade (1st was through them)

Has anyone received tracking or ship notifications for Batch 1 yet? I know it's only 10:00 am EST, but... anyone?

Looks like B1 got pushed to the 14th. I was just looking for that data also. (watch this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=671189.0 )
48  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: power management problem keeps blowing fuse box on: July 10, 2014, 02:09:27 PM
I have 5 S1's

5 S1s will pull almost 2000 watts.   A residential 115V 15A circuit will only handle about 1400 watts.  Even a 20A circuit will only run 1900 watts.

If you want to run all 5 on the same circuit, you should consider having a 220V 20A circuit installed which will make the PSUs run more efficiently or you can spread the units across multiple circuits in your house

I would definetly do as Bbeesley suggests. I ran 2 20A Dedicated outlets into my office for the mining pool I have as I had the same problem with 2 miners & 3 PCs in my office.

It took the electrician ~2h to run the line from the 1st Story Panel box to 2nd Story and i had to buy ~$80 worth of supplies. All in it cost about $300 to get the outlets in and help prevent a fire Smiley

Chips are 120GH each, not 100.

So his math is for a 2.4TH box Smiley not a big deal.

Makes me want to do a group buy, lol.

bump, updated to reflect new price.

KachingCoinDev,

Side note, $240 on Ebay is way over priced.
Examples:

If someone could get $240 on Ebay, I think they'd be pretty lucky Smiley There's a flood of S1's on Ebay atm. I think $100-$150 may become the new norm in a week or two. Especially when the S3's start arriving.

Um, do you realize how low this offer is?

KaChingCoinDev,

I do realize that I am below the .2BTC or ~$126 other people are paying yes. Some of those members have bought all they wanted (for now atleast), so maybe someone will want to sell @ that price. No idea Smiley
He asked me to try to buy him some @ that price, will I get any? Maybe, maybe not. But I told him i'd try and here I am  Smiley
56  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you really earn more money because you went to college? on: July 05, 2014, 02:44:55 PM
When I graduated High School ('97) my parents immediately pushed me into College. I hated it and felt I could make more money by not going, so I skipped classes and eventually dropped out.

After working several unfulfilling hourly jobs, (Dell Phone Support, PC Tech @ Local Shop, Pharmacy Tech, Helpdesk Manager for a Subprime Lender) I realized I had peaked and wasn't going to be increasing my earnings any more. (I was in my early 20's at that point). None of the director's/execs & the Lender took me seriously or considered me anything more than a phone monkey.

At first I decided I would fill my wall with Tech Certifications, A+, and MCSE. But even when openings in the network support team came open, I was passed over for transfer/promotion.

So I decided to go back to school at night. It took me another 5 years of night school to finish my bachelors. Luckily for me the Lender offered Tuition reimbursement so I only came out with ~$10k in student Loans. As When I was within 1 semester of getting my diploma I told my boss & his boss that I wanted to move into Project Management or into the Software Development team. (I was getting a BS in Computer Science).

They nodded (as they always did) and I kept plugging along working on my Diploma. When I finally got it Dec 2007 nearly 10 years after I had started this process, I told my bosses they needed to get the wheels moving. (I knew the software dept had openings as some of my friends worked there).

I also started interviewing for entry level Software Dev. jobs with other Friend's companies. When I got my offer from my current employer my salary was instantly raised ~$20k.
After switching companies and working for my new firm for the last 6 years now, I've more than doubled my salary.

Would I have gotten the job or advancement without my degree? I seriously doubt it.
Do I use what I learned from College? Maybe once in a blue moon.

I think that the degree shows people that you:
A.) Have the ability to learn
B.) Can focus on objectives to complete complex tasks.

I don't think that people need to take all the BS classes colleges force down your throat. Like all the Literature classes they forced me to take, Physical Wellness Classes, or Art Appreciation. I mean seriously by the time you get to college, if you don't know that eating junk food all day and sitting at a computer makes you fat, you got other issues. Smiley

59  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Block erupter cube OR antminer S1 on: July 02, 2014, 02:22:04 PM
Personally I would chose the Antminer S1. It looks like in a few days you'll probably be able to pick one up on Ebay ~$150.

Either way you have to have a PSU on, by looking at the Block Erupter Cube setup. It would seem the best use of power would be the S1.
60  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Does anyone actually have AntMiner S2 1TH/s? on: July 02, 2014, 01:47:48 PM
At this point, doesnt it make the most sense to just wait for the S3? 2 S3's is ~956GH for a total of 1.5BTC (in batch 1) or 1.48BTC (for batch 2) where as the S2 is 1.1TH for 2.689BTC.

Granted, you need 2 additional PSU's for the S3's but I still dont think you are going to be over the cost of the S2.
