41  Economy / Reputation / Re: Removal of escrow.ms? Update: Recommend users for DT 2, as escrow.ms is removed on: February 18, 2016, 12:49:25 AM
It seems the issue around removing escrow.ms from DT and adding some fresh members seems to be resolved. Unfortunately this thread is ow turned into another Quickseller discussion.

Mexxer, I suggest you lock this thread to prevent it from going off topic further. For those who'd like to discuss Quickseller and their reputation go to one of the existing threads or open a new one. Thanks!

If you are not banned then you are free to post with your (hopefully) temporary account.
43  Other / Meta / Re: Marketplace / Services board floods quickly... suggested child boards. on: February 15, 2016, 07:24:09 AM
There already is a Service Announcements section (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=84.0). Shouldn't that provide you with a place to publish about your service without getting cluttered by all the "earn a penny a day" chat? Though the announcements seem a tad cluttered too.

I figured you'd announce important information about your service in there and that the Service section is for the banter about services... Maybe I got it wrong.
44  Other / Meta / Re: Ignoring to delete bumps on: February 15, 2016, 04:28:53 AM
If you make life for the moderators easy they will act on this. Like the OP, showing the warning and then continued bump spam will result in at least a warning.

If the moderator can see your report clearly stating the issue with a single link to the information related to the report they can be way more efficient in dealing with it. Help the mods help you!
45  Other / Meta / Re: My account banned without any right reason ! on: February 11, 2016, 01:14:02 AM
Note that they're very likely an account farmer and they (try to) take out small loans with the accounts as collateral many times. Any single one of their accounts could have been banned, leading to a ban evasion ban as soon as they logged into another account.

Playing innocent and claiming ignorance is not going to help you here.

Ik heb het idee dat Ethereum wel eens groter kan worden dan Bitcoin.
Het contracten systeem is wel geniaal natuurlijk.
Tip laat je saldo Ether nou niet op een Exchange staan maar op een echte Wallet.
Wallet hier: http://www.bitcoinupdate.nl/home/ethereum-wallet-039-beta-6

Here's the link to the release page: https://github.com/ethereum/mist/releases

It should always show you the latest release on top.

Worked fine for two days, now same shit again... okay... challange accepted.

Well, it's a bitlot like emptying the ocean with a thimble... Fighting symptoms without addressing the cause is not going to make the problem go away.
49  Other / Meta / Re: Is it legit to sell microsoft keys here? on: February 03, 2016, 04:18:45 AM
You're offering HBO / Netflix accounts. Those are obviously hacked/cracked/otherwise fraudulent accounts. They are basically stolen goods. I'll assume it's illegal to sell those.

You're also offering Microsoft product keys. This is against the terms of service at best, and likely to be illegal.

So my conclusion is that you're a fence, selling stolen wares.

52  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: My Swing Developer / Hero account stolen - sold to Altcoin4Life in scam loan on: January 29, 2016, 03:53:53 AM
I agree that AltCoin4Life failed to do due diligence. I'd call it careless.

I also would like to state that there has been 0 evidence that the account was actually hacked. Maybe I'm too cynical but it could be a possible scam. Emotionally I'd say in this instance it's not a scam but I have no evidence to back this up.

Assuming the account was hacked somehow then the victim of the hack has been careless. That leaves us with two parties being careless. Why should one party in that scenario take the full loss?

If it was a scam then the situation is much easier and the collateral would belong to AltCoin4Life.

Either way, I'm pretty much done with this issue by now. If no new facts are uncovered I still maintain the opinion that they should compromise.
53  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: My Swing Developer / Hero account stolen - sold to Altcoin4Life in scam loan on: January 29, 2016, 12:09:16 AM
So the conclusion is that both of you failed to compromise. That is sad indeed; it means you both lost fully where you had a change to both reduce your losses.

I suggest locking the relevant topics as this issue seems over.
54  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: My Swing Developer / Hero account stolen - sold to Altcoin4Life in scam loan on: January 28, 2016, 07:39:07 AM
Unless Theymos changed their mind this is how he thinks about a similar situation:

I think that marcotheminer should return the account now since it was probably hacked, but everyone should give yussuf89 negative feedback for being unable to stand behind his account's actions unless he pays 50-75% of the loan principle. (This is just my opinion -- I'm not going to try to enforce it.)

Not the "I'm not going to try to enforce it" part. You really do have to work it out with Altcoin4Life. And that (usually) means compromise.

Also for future reference these are the password changes on the account:

Quote
January 14, 2016, 10:43:08 PM - murderouskirk - password changed
January 13, 2016, 11:59:41 PM - murderouskirk - password changed
January 13, 2016, 11:18:51 PM - murderouskirk - password changed
January 13, 2016, 11:15:09 PM - murderouskirk - password changed
January 06, 2016, 01:23:21 AM - murderouskirk - password changed

On a side note: is there any evidence that the account was hacked? Or are we to believe you on your word?
55  Other / Meta / Re: "Rabinovitch" has been locked for some reason... Please help!.. on: January 28, 2016, 06:15:58 AM
I'm wondering why don't they (admins...) warn every newly registered user about the possibility of hacking of their accounts and about some measures they should take in order to avoid losing their accounts...

Something like a little howto...

1) NEVER use a "secret question" option to recover your password;
2) Your foremost post at this forum should contain your BTC address - ADD A BOOKMARK to that message in your browser and NEVER edit it (neither bookmark nor post);
3) whatever-else...

 Angry

I have no messages containing my address mentioned in the first post, I have a message with another my bitcoin address somewhere on this forum, but it will take some time to find it...  Angry

2b) Post your address in the stake your address here thread.
3) Make sure someone quoted your unedited post with the address.

Otherwise someone that hacked your account can edit your post and common folk cannot verify ownership anymore.
56  Other / Meta / Re: why ban fox19891989? on: January 27, 2016, 11:57:45 PM
I can't believe they're actually claiming ignorance, as if copying like that would be somehow acceptable if there wasn't an explicit rule. This shouldn't need a rule at all; it's blatantly obvious that you don't go around copying like this.

Actually I'm going to assume they used a script to automate this process. Would it be useful to have a script checking for duplicate posts?

It seems dear fox had been doing this for a long time before they got caught and if my assumption is right it would be fairly trivial for them to change their script and start using another account with it.
57  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin cold storage - HACKED easily on: January 27, 2016, 11:42:30 PM
This topic should not have been resurrected. There was little useful discussion in it to start with and it only got worse.

58  Other / Meta / Re: Altcoin4life - HACKED ACCOUNT - Collateral 4 Murderouskirk - Swingdev - ADVICE?? on: January 27, 2016, 05:30:45 AM
Well... having solved the issue of signing a message brings both of you back to the original issue.

Altcoin4Life obtained the Murderouskirk account in good faith, as a collateral for a loan. They do not deserve to take the loss. Swingdev lost the account due to a hack. They do not deserve to take the loss either.

No admin is going to resolve this for you two. The only way out is by the two of you sticking your heads together and working it out. If you can't then things will remain as they are now.
59  Other / Meta / Re: "Rabinovitch" has been locked for some reason... Please help!.. on: January 27, 2016, 12:50:42 AM
I know this isn't directly responding to OP, but this security question thing is an obvious problem.. Why don't they just remove the "feature" from the forum entirely?
Yeah there's a PSA about the security questions being evil, but that doesn't really address the problem.

tl;dr Is there any plans about fixing the security question problem?

Then why didn't you go and post this in the thread I quoted or open your own thread instead of going off-topic here?

January 23, 2016, 09:10:20 AM - Rabinovitch - password reset via secret question
January 23, 2016, 02:09:30 AM - Rabinovitch - password changed

It's locked because you've used the secret question to recover your account:

This is a Public Service Announcement:

If you lose your password, DO NOT USE THE SECRET QUESTION TO RECOVER THE ACCOUNT. It will result in your account being locked. Please use the email recovery option to recover the account.
The reason that the accounts are locked is because the May 2015 hack leaked Bitcointalk's database which did not securely secure the Secret Question and Answer. To prevent people from guessing the answers, theymos made it so that accounts that are recovered using the secret question are automatically locked when the option is attempted. This is to prevent hackers who may be able to guess the answers from the leaked database.

If you have had your account locked, to recover it, please send and email to the email displayed on your screen when you try to login. You can also create a new account and pm both theymos and badbear. In the email and PM, to prove your identity, You MUST sign a message with a bitcoin address that you have posted previously, at least 2 months prior. Please be patient. Theymos and BadBear are busy people. Your email or pm may become lost among all of the other stuff that they have to do. You should resent your email and pm once a week so that they will see it and get around to you. If you need help signing a message, check this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=990345.0

If you haven't lost your password yet or you have regained access to the account, don't set the secret question, it can be a hassle. Make sure that you have the email set to an email address that you can access. That will make everything so much easier and will not require the long recovery process.
