Deposits are still locked on most exchanges.
Gents, if you have tons of BCH in cold storage unable to move since Western exchanges haven't allowed deposits, you can short an equal amount you have in cold storage on Bitfinex to hedge your position.
So essentially, you will hedge your profits before deposits are enabled and the huge hoard of sellers dump their stash. Or that's what they're saying will happen.

BCH is like a bitcoin stock split.
it makes it cheaper to buy again for those that want a full unit.

same thing happened to me, it showed my btc transaction. just change the server to one that is bch. (click network, bottom right, deselect 'select server automatically' then go to server tab and right click on server (with correct height 478562 as of now, i used casharia) and click 'use as server.' then the btc transaction is gone.
Confirmed Electron Cash works using this process. I used the same Bip39 seed as my original wallet now empty of BTC but still full of BCH in Electron Cash.

So, Electron Cash works and it's safe?

http://hackingdistributed.com/2017/07/29/bitcoin-impending-accounting-disaster/that sounds bad but actually what he is talking about cannot happen i guess because bitfinex writes: Due to the net amount of BTC committed in margin positions at the time of the fork, the above methodology may result in Bitfinex seeing a surplus or deficit of BCH. As such, we will be resolving this discrepancy in the form of a socialized distribution coefficient. For example, currently, there are more longs than shorts on the platform, causing a distribution coefficient of ~1.091 (Meaning that for each qualifying BTC a user will receive 1.091 BCH). The actual coefficient will be calculated at the moment of the distribution. Please note that if there are more shorts than longs at the fork event, this coefficient will be less than one. This coefficient can be roughly computed from publicly available information from our API (longs & shorts) and the Blockchain (cold storage). Yea, the author conveniently left out the distribution coefficient.

Yea, I was planning on buying on July 31 as people were fearing the hard fork.
But it seems the BTC-e news was the dip to buy. So, I FOMO'ed yesterday into that 1st hour spike.
Guess there might be some pullback prior to Aug 1, but maybe it could be a pullback from 3000 to 2800.

Can someone explain, what does the shorts will get REKT means? About price, I think we'll see one more major dump before aug 1. Why? cuz i wanna buy some more cheap btc In the past week, short interest has risen from 6k to 20k. Most of those positions added in the last 24 hours so they are currently underwater. Last time we had so many people shorting Bitcoin was back in April 2017. Re: https://bfxdata.com/positions/btcusd

BTC-e down for over 24 hours. One of the owners went by Alexander. Possibly related, 1h ago: Greece detains Russian Alexander Vinnik for bitcoin 'fraud'ATHENS, July 26 (Reuters) - A Russian arrested in Greece on suspicion of running a money laundering operation through a bitcoin platform is 38 year old Alexander Vinnik, police sources said on Wednesday. Greek police earlier said the suspect, who was picked up on a U.S. warrant, was thought to have used bitcoin to launder 'at least' $4 billion earned through illicit activities.

Long term, 3k will seem like a little speed bump.
Short term, we're a bit over extended rising from $800 in Feb to $3000 in June.

Seems the segwit2x code is buggy as hell. The market is starting to price-in the bip-148 soft fork which won't have much hashing power but has a lot of end-user support.

Declining traditional stock market is GOOD for bitcoin.
Bitcoin is a hedge, thus it's a doomsday meter for the legacy financial markets.
