STANFORD UNIVERSITY COURSE COULD GROW BITCOIN COMMUNITY, SAYS PROFESSOR

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/stanford-university-course-grow-bitcoin-community/

Omg! This is great!!!

"If we can start turning out 100 students a year who are experts on Bitcoin, this will really start growing the community quickly which should lead to exciting new technical advances in the future."
 -Professor Joseph Bonneau

So when will high schools, better yet, middle schools start to teach on the subject??

Yes, this is good news! Speaking of school, I have three currently in elementary school and they watch me when I go on exchanges and do buys/trades. I am already getting them started down the path of digital currency. I show them their CRISP for Kids savings and they see how it grows. They truly are very interested in it and how money is sent "through the air" as they say. You can never start them too early.

Educating the next generations about digital currency is one of the most important things we can do. They build upon what our industry has created.

The financial world will be forced to offer programs and classes on digital currency.  Just as schools were forced to offer computer classes.  Unfortunately the first computers hit my high school the year after I graduated. The computers came in at the end of my Senior year and were sitting in the business classes I was taking for the next school year. All we could do was look at them. Yes folks, I learned on a typewriter, thankfully it was electric and not manual.

I remember getting our first puter for the office, a 386SX, and thinking we would never need more than one PC in the office. That was about the very early 1990's or so. Then we got FOUR puters, 486SX. Everyone in the office had one, including me. I said "we will never need the internet at work". What would we need internet at work for? Then we got internet, BUT only on ONE puter, and that puter was not connected to the company network. I just did not trust the damn thing (the internet). Took a few years of being stubborn, but I finally relented and allowed the internet on the company puters. That was two decades ago. Seems like a lifetime.

Still remember our first "Mobile phone", a bag phone........

It is absolutely amazing how quickly technology evolves. Today you can't run most businesses without the internet, at least a dozen computers, and mobile phones.

Fond memories of dragging around the 30 pound mobile phone, and finding a good place to suction the antenna.

The first laptop computer we designed and manufactured was an Intel 286 with a built power supply, considered cutting edge at that time. All it needed was an external standard power cord. Oh, that was a 16 pound machine with a 4 pounds lead acid battery, in 1989. Kevin, we could a sold you an 8 lb 386SX in 1990 with built-in modem.

We were always ahead of technologies of our time; hardware, software, and material science. Dauphin DTR 2 1/2 lbs 386SX and 486SX windows tablets with removable 80 megabyte hard drive was clearly state of the art of the time.

Technology always evolves. So will digital currency like DNotes. That is the future of money. Don't sell yourself short. The big banks that practically despised the technology a year ago are now committing large sum of money to come up with their version of centralized currency.

Meeting you for the first time is forever etched into my memory banks. It was about the year 2000, and you had this funny little puter.......at least I thought it was funny, until I learned the backstory on it. It was the beginning of a relationship that will change the world. Someday there will be books written about our humble beginnings.

     Man-Hugs, you old fart!!!!

http://dcebrief.com/taiwan-could-be-seeing-a-digital-currency-boom/

This article makes me question whether it would be possible for PayPal to accept digital currency? What would the pros and cons be? I can immediately knowledge that one downfall would be the involvement of a third party, and fees for those transactions. The positive thing would be that by accepting Bitcoin and DNotes, PayPal would encourage consumers to accept digital currency as a real currency.

It's absolutely possible for PayPal to accept digital currency, every vendor or money services company has all the tools needed to do so. PayPal would likely charge fees, but it would be up to the user whether they want the ease of use PayPal might provide or feel comfortable managing their own digital wallet. However, if PayPal does accept digital currency, and doesn't compete by lowering fees for digital currency transactions and making it easier to use, other companies will jump at the chance to acquire those customers PayPal would lose.

I appreciate that DNotes doesn't take an adversarial approach to big business. Most of the world will prefer the easiest options, even if it does cost some fee. They need crypto to stay in the game and relevant, and crypto needs them to reach the masses.

Thanks, Bergman. That is the correct observation. We are committed to being respectful to everyone. That may be one of the trade secrets why DNotes and its communities have been able to accomplish so much in such a short period of time. We are very focused in problem solving and "mind our own business", avoiding the destructive consequences of dramas that have ruined so many other cryptocurrencies.

Paypal, banks, debit and credit card companies are here to stay for a long time. They will be the gateways and conduits in many of our future financial services. We will compete fiercely based on our strengths in certain areas but must cooperate where we can find common grounds and mutual benefits in other areas. Constructive business philosophy is important to business success. We are sincerely committed to represent our industry in the best of light, helping to build much need trust and respect. What is good for our industry will be good for everyone. There has never been a better opportunity for common people with little means to join force in working together for the better good of mankind.

Bergman - I did not think about the fact that companies like PayPal need crypto to stay relevant. What an eye-opening statement Smiley

Kris, Bitcoin, DNotes or digital currency in general, and the Blockchain technology collectively will be causing a paradigm shift of seismic proportion that will be difficult to ignore.

Free market forces always weed out those who are too slow to response and adapt. The Internet technology revolution should an eye-opener for those who are not so sure what a disruptive technology could do. I trust that Paypal is well aware of that. Like many major banks, they will not just stay on the sideline and watch. They will participate in ways that serve their interest best.

I think the vast majority of "money changers" are baffled by the blockchain and digital currency. Most of them have no idea what either one really entails.  I think we will see a lot of different reactions, most being a result of still thinking in a "fiat" way. I think it may take them quite some time to "get it".

"I will be real excited when they can have a direct link to customer's bank account . . . "

Oh, yeeeeeeh! a crypto-fiat portal is a big step forward.

And Cryptsy?

Crypto theory will take a stride forward when there is ready admission of three things that represent de facto centralisation:

One: exchanges being set up to gain and trade large quantities of currencies' coins -- Cryptsy

Two: the fact of whales' influence on markets

Three (lesser but very real): the fact that an established -- 'main' -- bitcointalk thread is controlled by its OP

Mark (IndiaMikeZulu), Australia

It's a little early yet, but perhaps one day we should post a wish list of what an ideal global digital currency exchange should be, if it is only subjected to a universal global set of rules. One registration and a single annual reporting with individual nation providing their guidelines on AML and consumer laws already in books.

Decentralised?

But our perfect exchange -- meaning no disrespect -- would be none. (Okay, one community-managed otc exchange to facilitate merchant volume -- we've trialled this.) IndiaMikeZulu would like to see the currencies pass from the speculative-trading-centric phase to the 'transactional volume'-centric phase.

(Now you understand the enthusiasm I expressed for Daylily Gardens.)

Mark, Western Australia (How's ya winter, campers? Did I mention . . . tee hee . . . it's blossom-scented spring here.)

Hang in there, Mark. At phase three of our strategic master plan, we intend to launch a company that does not have any traditional book keeping, as we know it today. If you want to be a one of our suppliers you must accept payment in DNotes or a limited number of digital currencies on our list. The same thing is true if you want to buy any of our products on line. This company will not accept credit or debit card. No cash or check either. No direct payment with any fiat currency. But we will accept DNotes multi-currency card issued by our own bank or partner banks as the payment will be in DNotes. Even all the shares of the company, be it private, or publicly traded, will take full advantage of the Blockchain technology, that will be recorded in the public ledger verifiable by anyone anytime. All transactions are decentralized taking full advantage of the Blockchain technology.

So are we there yet? Unfortunately, no, we still have a long way to go. We are at the tail end of phase one. We will be starting phase two at the beginning of 2016. A good amount of our vision will be revealed in our next press release.

There are many hidden benifits (and market advantages) for a company set up like this. No credit card fees. No Pay Pal fees. Huge savings in accounting (the blockchain is the bulk of the accounting dept). No bank fees. No employee thefts of funds. No cash on hand (safer work environment). The list will grow as uses for the blockchain grows.

This article is very interesting to me. I only recently learned the block chain can be utilized for purposes other than digital currency transactions, and this report explains to me further how useful it could really be. I like your writing style, ken - it's easy for me to understand Smiley

It seems like everytime I learn something new about the blockchain, the more I realize just how powerful the blockchain is, and I realize it will have a huge impact on our future. Crypto-currency is just one small part of the blockchain. With my head buried in Daylilies and Crypto-Currency, I sometimes underestimate things. The blockchain is one of those things. I truley believe it will have a larger impact on society than the internet. (History will see this statement as either visionary, or the result of warming up the tractors too long in a closed barn).

This may be the best press release so far. Many hands were responsible for writing, editing, and shaping the press release. A big thank you to all who had a part in the press release!

P.S. We are almost done replanting Daylilies for the season. Hope to keep a better eye on you guys in a couple more weeks. A little late this year, we had some weather issues, and a wedding that everyone in the company was involved in! (Two key employees got married, Alan even came from Chicago to attend!). BUT we did dig up, split from clumps into single plants, and planted about 500,000 Daylilies this summer. Concurrently, we also shipped well over 250,000 plants to customers. We are now the undisputed "King of the Daylily Hill".
We are building DNotes the same way Smokeys Gardens was built. Brick by brick. Build a Master Plan. Build a solid foundation. Construct this huge building floor by floor. Never stop improving. It took us less than 5 years to have the highest internet traffic in the Daylily World. Within 5 years, we (arguably) had more Daylilies than anyone else. Now, about 8 or 9 years after Alan pitched his "Wild Idea" to me about selling (of all things) FLOWERS, we are the UNDISPUTED King of the Daylily World. If ya dont think so, visit our 40 acre Daylily Farm in Michigan!!

A Warm Welcome to Kris:

On behalf of CryptoMoms’ and DNotes’ communities I want to extend a very warm welcome to Kris for join the DNotes Team. Although, Kris has heard a lot about DNotes she is new to our industry and I trust that you all will be most helpful in helping her with any questions she may have.

With Kris’s help this will be the beginning of a new chapter for CryptoMoms and our family of CRISP. Kris is very passionate about women’s empowerment, economic equalities and the financial future of children. We will be reaching out to many organizations and individuals to help take CryptoMoms to the next level.

Welcome to the newest member of the DNotes team: Kristina! No corner office yet but the coffee is good and the atmosphere is fantastic! Welcome aboard.

Great start guys! Gonna take a break from the gardens and go to the NASCAR race in Bristol. Bristol has been an annual event for decades for Mrs. Smokey and I. Back before I got cancer five years ago, Mrs. Smokey and I would attend several NASCAR races every year. Dont seem to get out of the garden much these days! We used to have season tickets to several tracks, and season tickets for the Colts. Now, the most exciting thing in our lives is DNotes! You guys are making an old man very happy! Keep up the good work, we are one of the few "good examples" in Crypto-currency.

DNotes Community,

I am the volunteer from PayServices that has been working on getting DNotes on their MultiExchange Operating System. https://www.payservices.com/#modal

PayServices will be soon launching their Crypto Integration Platform which will first feature 50 CryptoCurrencies DNotes being one of them. This will allow DNotes to be instantly converted into 49 other CryptoCurrencies (400 Cryptos Total before the end of the year) along with 130 Fiat Currencies( including USD, Euro, Pounds Sterling, Yuan etc) and 16 Complimentary Currencies including some as part of the Clinton Initiative. I believe the convertibility of the platform between Cryptos along with all the Fiat Currencies will be handy. Hopefully this will happen soon (No ETA) I have been in touch with the DNotes Founder and helped put him in touch with the VP of PayServices and was told that their conversation went extremely well.
https://www.payservices.com/currency.php

I have been in Crypto since 2011 and have been involved in quite a few developments as an assistant lead along with volunteering as a moderator in another CryptoForum. I mined DNotes back on day one and have always been a big fan of this great CryptoCurrency along with its great community and now the DNotes founder who in my book is the most impressive individual yet to date that I have met in Crypto.

Congratulations everyone for the Steadfast work here!!!

BTW- I made a withdrawal from the Vault for the first time the other day. I confirmed it by email I need to go back and re-read the help section to make sure I did it correctly. So I might be back asking for advice sooner than later. ;-)

Anyway, thank you and Congratulations on your work. Please feel free to contact me regarding any PayServices related questions or anything please feel free to contact me PM.

~NorCal

Hi NorCal and welcome to the DNotes forum!  That is great news that DNotes is going to be listed on PayServices.  I am going to study it thoroughly this weekend and may have a question or two next week.  Thanks for all your hard work helping us out!  Smiley

Anything, I can do please do not hesitate to contact me here, pm or norcalanon707[at]gmail[dot]com and that goes for anyone in this community anytime.

Best,

~NorCal

Welcome NorCal. I was looking into your site when Dyna mentioned it the other day, impressive list of services. DNotes will be a great match for your company.

I am only a volunteer and friend of the owners. PayServices is going to be a game changer. DNotes will be the CryptoCurrency credited for helping raise awareness to the PayServices MultiExchange Operating System. I see them both making history here together and we are very close to seeing this take place. I will try to get Lionel Danenberg CEO/Owner of PayServices Inc over here to say hello as soon as I can. A friendly Crypto Welcome will be enjoyable for him after all the FUD Horror stories I have told him that goes on in other Crypto Communities. DNotes being the community that all coin communities can hopefully model themselves to be like. Keep up the great work!!!

~NorCal

Welcome to the world of DNotes, NorCal! I am glad that others can see what we are doing, and why we are doing it. From what Alan has told me, Mr. Danenberg is a very capable and insightful visionary. The way it sounds, Alan and Mr. Danenberg share a vision for the future. Gonna be an exciting ride!

I have not been posting much lately, but be sure I am not missing a thing. Been VERY busy in the gardens. We have dug up several hundred thousand clumps of daylilies, split them into single plants, and have replanted more than 350,000 plants so far this summer. All the while, shipping out hundreds, or thousands of plants daily. I, for one, am looking forward to the slowdown after we are done with digging/replanting for the year, should be done in about one to two weeks. After that, it will be just daily shipping, (until november 1) and getting ready for winter. You guys are doing a great job. It is nice to see a community come together for a common cause. Kudos to all.

I want to publicly acknowledge Brandon (Cryptobroker) and Wiser for this press release. They pretty much accomplished this single-handedly. Brandon has been working like a dog, mostly for his charity, NOT for himself. Typical DNotes way of thinking, and I LOVE IT! There are causes greater than one's self. My advice to everyone else: Find a cause, and GO FOR IT! I also want to thank Blake, our press release guy. He is dong a FANTASTIC job. Alan, Joe and I talk about him frequently, and think very highly of him. He is in "our corner", and has went the "extra mile" for us time and time again.

I am SO proud of all the DNotes team, from Alan and Joe, right down to folks who are DNotes disciples, but mebbe post infrequently (the silient majority, in my opinion).

.....walking with a little more "spring in my step this morning,

Allcoin Update:

As of this morning all of my smaller transactions between 10K to 30K have been successfully completed. Transactions of 100K+ have failed. This may simply mean that they have to be manually processed. It is also takes time to transfer DNotes out of multiple cold wallets, depending on the process they have in place and whether multi-signitures are required. At this point, I am giving them the benefits of the doubt that they are just terrible communicators. Lack of communication, transparency, disclosures, basic management and leadership skills are among the many hurdles holding our industry back.

New Update:

All my transactions have been successfully completed. Please share your experience and let us know if you still have remaining issues relating to DNotes at Allcoin exchange.

I have been able to withdraw from Allcoin also. A 90,000 DNote withdraw took a short amount of time to complete. Two other, larger (over 100,000) withdrawals took much longer, but they ALL were successfull. That is a HUGE relielf. I was thinking the worst, figured we had another Mt. Gox or mintpal on our hands. It still had a HUGE impact on the price of DNotes, as expected. Again, WHEW!!!!

Just noticed this on Poloniex.

"ALERT: Poloniex will no longer be allowed to provide services to residents of the State of New York starting on August 8th, 2015. If you are a resident of New York, please take appropriate measures to withdraw your funds by this date. "

Yes I just read that myself. Bitlicense for State of New York. Must have them withdrawn by 11:59 on August 7th.

This should not be a surprise. Notice was given 5 or 6 weeks ago. Can anyone confirm if Cryptsy has Bitlicense? I am working on the assumption that they do, based on their registration and account verification process. If someone could find out and get a confirmation, it will be helpful.

DNotes is now at position # 4 on Cryptsy Vote List. #2 spot is within striking distance. That is where we need to be and we need your support very much. Your maximum participation is needed more than a large number of votes. Community support conveys a strong and compelling message. Unfortunately, that has been lacking. We will secure the 2nd position soon but may not get listed without your participation and support. If you can afford to contribute .01 BTC ($3) send it to:

14AGjtup6T6k4kB1bmbMUVmePNUXEYuqmQ  for 50 votes. If you already have an account at Cryptsy sending a letter of endorsement to "Support" recommending DNotes to be listed on Cryptsy will go a long way.

I seldom go this far to plead for your support, but this is extremely important. What I am seeing in our industry and the financial crises brewing around the world is extremely troubling. We need DCEBrief as a platform to communicate on issues that matter. A platform that can engage like minded people to help frame those issues constructively, objectively and positively in a clear and compelling format as an Executive Summary with supporting facts in a full length article. We need to aggressive reach out to political leaders, regulators, media executives, educators, business executives and others.

DNotes and the many projects we have been working on are needed more than ever as financial crises continue to spread rapidly worldwide. We are not in the position to change the world but DNotes is a viable alternative to help alleviate various global challenges once we reached a certain scale and stature. In the mean time, making DNotes available to an exchange like Cryptsy is valuable, especially in light of the lost of Allcoin exchange.

I have been trying to make a post for a day or two now! We are so busy in the garden I have a hard time keeping up with you guys. It is Sunday morning, and I have taken three important phone calls already, then a short meeting with my Field Manager. But, this is such an important topic, and I feel so strongly about it that it deserves to be addressed, even though the grankids just showed up, and Grandpa needs some Grandkid Play Time, I have to address this topic:

Yoda: (Alan, or Dyna, as most of you know him): I agree with you on almost all points. Yes, the New York thing is no surprise. "They" (regulators in general) are doing what they ALWAYS do: Skew the playing field so that only the "very large" and "very connected" get to play in their playground.
I also very much agree with the Crypsy Voting. It is critical now, in light of the Allcoin disaster. Yes, disaster. Another damn scam in the world of Crypto. Is anyone surprised? To be honest, yes, it still took me by surprise (but should not have). Mt. Gox. Crypto Rush. Mintpal. Allcoin should be no surprise, I guess. Very sad, but no surprise.
I also agree with Yoda on all points in the last paragragh, except one. He said: We are not in the position to change the world but DNotes is a viable alternative to help alleviate various global challenges once we reached a certain scale and stature. This is one of the few times I will disagree with Alan. We ARE in a position to change the world, BECAUSE of the second half of his quote. I know that is a very bold statement. Very bold indeed, but not taken lightly and not without a LOT of deep thought and discussion.
Why would I utter such a statement in a public forum? Because I really do believe it. When looked at from the outside, Crypto-Currency is a cesspool. A minefield full of scammers and thieves. When looking at it from the "outside", that is exacly what it looks like. Why does it look like that? BECAUSE IT IS TRUE. The world of Crypto-Currency IS a cesspool. It IS full of scammers and thieves. If this continues, it will set back mass adoption of the Blockchain, Bitcoin, and with it all Alt Currency by decades. The ENTIRE INDUSTRY is in trouble. The entire industry is not only shooting itself in the foot, it is slitting it's own throat.
Here is where we are in a position to CHANGE THE WORLD. If I were studying this from the "outside", and wanted to drain the cesspool, here is what I would do: I would develop a coin, and design it from the ground up to be transparent, reliable, and ABOVE ALL: TRUSTWORTHY. I would develop an infrastructure around this coin that appealed to "the masses", instead of appealing to the "early adoptors". I would try include folks who most others would ignore, thinking of them as the "ignorant masses". I would build an eco-system that makes it easier to understand, and easier to use. Information, at a level that ordinary folks can understand WOULD BE A KEY BUILDING BLOCK. I would also try to reach the "Movers and Shakers" of society. 99% of this group has NO IDEA what the Blockchain and Eco-System really is. They, just like most ordinary folks, view Bitcoin with disdain and dis-trust.
So, in closing, I publicly and very politely diss-aree with you. We CAN change the world. Cryptomoms and DNotes Vault are just two of many examples. But, our most important challenge to date is DCBrief. The "Movers and Shakers MUST be educated on the true advantages of the Blockchain and Crypto-Currency. The second most important challenge, especially in light of the Allcoin disaster, is getting listed on Crypsy. OK. Rant over. Time to grab a Grandkid or two and head out to the Garden.

Respectfully,
Smokey

Thanks, Chase. Happy Birthday to CRISP For Kids!! All that gifts and extras are from uncle Kevin.

That's awesome!!  Thank you 'Uncle Kevin'!   Grin

Happy to do so! Mrs Smokey and I have been spending every daylight minute in the Daylily Garden. Our "Crunch Time" is from middle of May to the Middle of August. We dig, split into single plants and re-plant over a half million Registered Daylilies in those three months! That is about 15 acres of Daylilies. Been keeping an eye on you guys, but the garden is keeping me very busy.

It is amazing what we have accomplished in a very short time. My backyard is 40 acres of high-end daylilies. 40 acres is 1/4 mile X 1/4 mile. We have over 2000 varieties, and tens of millions of plants. Here is the unbelievable part....every year, almost half of the 40 acres is dug up, taken to the splitting house, split into single plants, and replanted. We have "an even mirror", and an "odd mirror". During odd years (like 2015), we sell plants from the odd mirror, and dig and replant the even mirror, then visa versa the next year. We have developed our own equipment (mostly by altering exisiting equipment) to be able to do this. Been a fun ride......

This is one of the better articles I read over the last few days. It explains why DNotes has been doing things rather differently. I am in agreement with the author. Good article. Enjoy.

5 Don’ts for Bitcoin Startups

CoinTelegraph tapped into the experience of several startup founders to get an idea of things aspiring entrepreneurs should avoid when starting their own business in the cryptocurrency industry, which for many is still uncharted territory.

Before big banks began taking a serious look at Bitcoin, some visionaries realized the potential of this new technology early in the game. Many have since started their own companies, such as CoinBase or BitPay, while others’ ventures fizzled out or fell victim to “wild west” conditions of this volatile space.
So what are the most common mistakes that Bitcoin entrepreneurs make? In a follow-up to the 5 must do’s for any Bitcoin business, below are five things crypto startups should avoid to boost their chances of success in the new industry.

1. Don’t Push Your Product If It Isn’t Ready

This may seem like common sense, but far too many startups have made the mistake of promoting a product that’s not ready for market, or worse — one that’s not even operational.

Does your product work? If so, it will not only demonstrate to customers and potential investors that you are for real, but will also facilitate trust, and provide you with feedback that can be used for further improvement.

Simon Dixon, the CEO of BnkToTheFuture, an online investment platform that recentlypassed the $10 million invested mark for blockchain startups, explained to CoinTelegraph:

"We love to invest in Blockchain businesses where we can play with the technology already. We like to see how customers are using it and what they are saying about it.”

Without a tangible product, your idea might still attract believers and even lead to asuccessful crowdfunding campaign. However, not every company is Ethereum, which has been criticized as “vaporware” by some. And while it’s true that software needs time to be developed, tested and honed, a ready-made solution will undoubtedly be much more attractive for users and investors alike.

“I think currently the climate is very untrusting and so I would advise not to say much before you have something real and tangible in hand,” adds Dor Konforty, CEO of Synereo, a fully decentralized social platform. “It's less about ‘ready for market’ than it is ‘working technology.’"

2. Don’t Pitch Ideas to Investors

The invention of Bitcoin opened the door to a whole array of new possibilities around blockchain technology. Hundreds, if not thousands, of novel ideas have sprung up in the minds of ambitious entrepreneurs, from new payment methods to literally going to the moon and beyond by using the blockchain for space exploration.

Dixon says:
“Blockchain ideas are normally funded by the founders. Launched products with customers and a team behind them are funded by investors.”

In other words, ideas are a dime a dozen. Thus, investors are attracted not to just promising ideas, but preferably a launched product that has already established a customer base, along with a team to support further development.

This is because investors are averse to risk. A brand with a ready-made product, an experienced team behind it, along with a clear vision already has a greater chance to succeed than an idea that hasn’t yet materialized, no matter how good it may sound or how glossy that PowerPoint presentation may be.
“Clearly articulate the real-world problem your startup is solving and quantify the value,” adds Ribbit.me CEO, Gregory Simon.

Does your product address a real-life problem? How big is the profit potential of the solution? These are all crucial things to address before making that pitch to potential investors.

3. Don’t Use ‘the Blockchain’ (If You Don’t Have To)

“Is using the blockchain for the problem you're trying to solve really the way to go?” asks Konforty. He continues:

“Too many crypto projects see the blockchain as the ultimate solution to all problems, not bothering to explore the issue they're trying to solve deeply to see whether what the blockchain provides is relevant at all.”

Indeed, many firms, particularly in traditional finance, have jumped aboard the bandwagon using the “blockchain” as a buzzword, while divorcing it from Bitcoin, to create an image of a tech-savvy and forward thinking company.

“It becomes a sort of ‘me too!’ situation where people want to have a blockchain-related product, rather than to overcome a pain using novel means,” adds Konforty.

So ask yourself, is your product reliant on a blockchain to function? Can you use it for transactions, record keeping, as a data layer or for some other application? If not, then it might be best to go the old-fashioned route in order to avoid disappointing your customers and investors.

4. Don’t Be Anonymous

Anonymity is great if you are a user who values privacy. However, executives whose company’s success depends on reputation must not only be visible, but they must bereal people who interact with their customers and business partners.

One telltale sign of a scam, still all too prevalent in the cryptocurrency industry, is a company without an ‘Our Team’ page, with no photos of its members on its website. Even though some fraudsters are brazen enough to flaunt their online gravitas, most criminals would prefer to keep their identities secret and run off with the cash before the dust settles.

“Transparency is vital for the future success of a company and an important part of this is trust,” said Ronny Boesing, CEO of CCEDK. “It’s the human factor that is vital for success, which is impossible with anonymity.”

Having a transparent team that customers know is real people will instill greater confidence in your product and company as a whole.

5. Don’t Keep All Your Eggs in One Basket

If you are finally seeing an influx of funds — from crowdfunding, investors, sales, etc. — your next move will be to ensure that these funds are secure. Incidents such as the Mt. Gox heist have taught us that digital currency stored in a single place is not only a welcoming sign for hackers, but also for the authorities to confiscate your funds, if they deem your actions illegal.

“It’s getting better than it was a few years ago, but unfortunately, if your startup is remotely related to Bitcoin or blockchain technology, be prepared to have bank accounts shut down with little to no notice,” explains Gregory Simon. “It’s not that banks hate Bitcoin — it’s just the regulatory uncertainty and the bitcoin counterparty risk uncertainty leading these decisions.” He concludes:

“It’s a good idea to have multiple bank accounts set up just in case.”

Multiple wallets, cold storage, multisig, escrow accounts, and other security measureswould all help to ensure that your money is stored safely. Because what could be worse than successfully raising funds, only to lose them all because of something that could have been prevented?

This is a great article! Alan could have written this two years ago. He has been preaching these tenants (among others) to me for almost two years now. I swear he can see into the future. The biggest hurdle I see is being able to explain that vision in a way folks that have little or no knowledgle of crypto-currency can understand. The Digital Currency Executive Brief is a great start, and will go a long way toward overcoming that hurdle.

Starting on the new site logo. This is the first step in my process, narrowing down a font, and I would like everyone's opinion on which ones you feel are best suited for the site.

The logo for the new site should be simple, professional, with finance and/or technology elements.

1,3 or 20 .....

Little disappointed that DNotes was not mentioned and actually explained... especially the CRISP programs and the vault.  Guess there was not enough time for 4 people to explain indepth about all aspects of what they are doing.

It would have been better if we were given more time. I did have the opportunity to meet with a lot of people in smaller groups and stayed way beyond closing time. I have been kept very busy since the presentation. Our proposed new site DCEBrief.com is partly the result of this event. I came to the realization that many high level executives, including regulators and political leaders lack the time to learn about real issues confronting our industry. There is a serious "knowledge vacuum", causing significant confusion and loss of opportunities.

TeeGee is in the process of producing a number of Youtube videos. Let us know if you have any other suggestions.
As usual, with events like this, the people you meet, and the ideas gained is very benificial. In my opinion, DCEBrief.com may be the single most important concept to come away with. It is brilliant. It helps overcome the some of biggest the problems with crypto-currency: Ignorance. Lack of knowledge on how it works. Mis-Information. Again, brilliant idea, Alan. Kudos.
With that said, the moderator could have done a MUCH better job, taking up way too much of the panelists' precious time.

I'm looking very forward to hearing how the event went!

It is excellent news that Canada has decided to use a hands off approach with Digital Currency. I also saw that they cheekily hired a company to put their decision announcement through the blockchain - "nearly hands off".

Just talked to Alan. Everything went great. Met some others of like mind, and was able to educate a lot of people who were hungry for information about crypto currency, and were especially interested in the CRISP programs. He has had a very long day, and will give us a full report tomorrow!

In 2007 I started helping a struggling small business owner to diversify his seasonal heating business to include a second seasonal business to even out cash flow. That gave birth to Smokeys Daylily Gardens, one of the largest Daylily growers in the world today. Our web developer and internet guru, whom I have been working with closely for many years introduced me to Bitcoin in November 2013. When I finally decided to do some serious research, I could not stop thinking that we finally have all the needed parts to help alleviate some significant global problems that had not been possible before.

So... you first heard about Bitcoin in November 2013, and launched DNotes in February 2014. Of course you went into it with plenty of computer and entrepreneurial experience, but even so, that was some serious cramming.

True. That was a very steep learning curve. I cannot speak for Alan, but I had heard of Bitcoin before that (the story of throwing away millions of dollars worth of Bitcoin on a hard drive). November 2013 was when our internet guru told us about his idea for DNotes. Short incubation time there, though. It is incredible what a team of dedicated, seasoned, and VERY determined people can do when you focus one thing for 16 or 18 hours a day. As a team, when building Smokeys Gardens, the three of us worked our fingers to the bone, working 10 to 12 hours a day in the field, then strategizing till midnight almost every weeknight. There were times when Alan and I put in over 100 hours of labor in the field, literally for months on end. The only other person I know that worked like that is my Dad, who is almost 80 and still comes up to the garden 2 or 3 days a week and does battle with the weeds. We tried hiding the sprayers from him, but he always finds em and goes to work. Guys like my Dad and Alan are like old hunting dogs. They are happiest when they are on a scent. Alan is on a scent, and nothing is gonna stop him. I have seen him in action close-up for many years. Do not underestimate him. I think he could inspire me to move a mountain with a teaspoon. (I would try to talk him into getting a bulldozer though).
