41  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MTGOX . . . WARNING ABOUT MTGOX . . . TAKE THE NEW POLL!! on: November 15, 2013, 01:36:22 PM
I'm verified, and have made several bitcoin withdrawals over the last few days without any problems.  I think one of them was delayed by like 24 hours, but the rest went through immediately.

USD on the other hand is another story.
42  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-11-12 $5 million worth of bitcoin vanish in China on: November 14, 2013, 01:49:26 PM
more and more people are copying inputs.IOWE business model
You must mean the MyBitcoin, Bitcoinica, Bitomat, Bitfloor, Bitcoin7, Bitscalper model.

Though... neither Global Bond Limited or Inputs.io have "bit" in the title. Maybe it's a new trend...  Shocked

Don't forget CryptoXChange!  Lost about $7k there.
43  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why doesn't anyone use CampBX? on: November 13, 2013, 07:36:38 PM
I use them all the time and wonder the same thing.  Once they open up ACH deposits that should make a big difference though.
44  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: why can't mtgox just mail checks to US customers? on: November 11, 2013, 07:09:13 PM
Checks is like 1920... no country uses checks. Only the USA. The rest of the world uses bankwire or sepa

Which is why he is suggesting this for US customers... Bankwire would be preferred of course, but they can't seem to get those working.

Are you trying to say they don't have paper checks in Japan?
45  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: why can't mtgox just mail checks to US customers? on: November 11, 2013, 06:57:30 PM
will our banks not honor their checks?

A great question.  Even if the checks were in Yen I'm thinking someone should be able to cash them for less than their 5% "emergency withdrawal" fee.
46  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: certacoin.com If you want cash for your Bitcoin there is none better on: October 28, 2013, 08:48:40 PM
You guys are very rough on a newbie. Wow if this was the 1600's you guys would beat me, stone me and burn me at the stake. I am not a witch....

Don't take it too personally.  There have been so many scams around here that it's natural for everyone to be a bit paranoid.
47  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: October 02, 2013, 04:37:09 PM
Right. If Mt. Gox 1) had the money, and 2) wanted to pay it out, they could find a way. It really isn't hard to send money if you have it.
In a legal way which scales to 600000 customers?  How?

Seems like they can process 10 wires a day right now.  How many checks could Mark sign and mail in a day?  Wouldn't scale to 600k customers, but would certainly help to get things caught up.

There are a few countries, including Germany, that have shown a particular interest in DC recently where we have opted not to operate until we have explicit regulatory clearance.

Can someone explain what 'DC' stands for?

49  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Magic numbers in ECC - Is this a concern for Bitcoin? on: September 11, 2013, 01:27:15 PM
Saw this post on stackexchange:

http://crypto.stackexchange.com/questions/10263/should-we-trust-the-nist-recommended-ecc-parameters

and an article on Slashdot today:

http://it.slashdot.org/story/13/09/11/1224252/are-the-nist-standard-elliptic-curves-back-doored

I'm pretty sure bitcoin uses ECC for public/private keys.  Does it use the NIST FIPS 186-3 standard numbers?  and if so, is there any concern among the developers about a possible NSA backdoor?
50  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-08-06 - CNS - Shavers bitcoin Ponzi scheme cannot dodge securities fraud on: August 07, 2013, 09:20:29 PM
Oh no!  This case is going to set a lot of legal precedents regarding bitcoin.  If he doesn't have a top notch legal team, many of those precedents are likely to be detrimental to bitcoin.

Seems doubtful to me.  Now that it's been established that bitcoin is money and pirate was selling securities, this should be a pretty straightforward securities fraud case with little to do with bitcoin specifically.
51  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-08-06 - CoinBase - Now supporting zero fee microtransations on: August 06, 2013, 07:25:45 PM
I believe Gox does this too.  At least that's what I noticed when I sent coins from my Gox account to a friends Gox account.  They never actually appeared in the blockchain and were received by him instantly.
52  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Satoshidice is officially a scam on: August 06, 2013, 07:20:25 PM
I am wondering why not a single share holder sued, despite the fact that it was written in their TOS I don't think it is legal.

Probably because they were trading unregulated securities on an unlicensed exchange.  Maybe a bit like suing your drug dealer for ripping you off Smiley
53  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Satoshidice is officially a scam on: August 06, 2013, 05:53:33 PM
Insider trading may be a concern.  But Erik buying back the shares of the company?  Even if it's true, what's the big deal?  Public corporations go private all the time.

Purely speculative, but given that he closed down the website to US customers, I'm thinking he's trying to limit his legal liability in the US.  Buying back the shares could be part of that as well (trying to head off issues with dealing in unlicensed securities?)

54  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-07-30 Digital Asset Transfer Authority Announced on: July 31, 2013, 06:42:06 PM

The goal of D.A.T.A. is to ... ultimate engage our legislators and regulator in creating laws and regulation and better serve the virtual currency and emergency payments movement

What is this "emergency payments" movement?  This is the first I've heard of that term.  Sounds like you're teaming up with payday lenders or something Smiley
55  Economy / Exchanges / Re: mtgox.com reliable? on: July 22, 2013, 07:32:31 PM
If you just want to transfer in money, buy bitcoins, and transfer the bitcoins out then I don't think you'll have any issues (other than maybe withdrawal limits if you don't have a verified account).

Getting fiat money (not bitcoins) out of Gox has been quite a problem lately though.
56  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CampBX withdrawal to Bank Account-- Long wait time on: July 22, 2013, 05:34:39 PM
well its been 3 days, and sure enough the funds still arent in my checking account. When i visit the CampBX website, it shows that the order was executed. Just trying to get some feedback on how long you usually wait on ACH withdrawal to your checking account. Gotta pay my rent and child support i aint got time for this shit.

3 days, or 3 business days?  Typically I would expect ACH to take 3 business days at a minimum.
57  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CampBX - Dwolla deposits taking forever as opposed to 'Instant'? on: July 22, 2013, 05:10:15 PM
I deposited $1000 on Friday and it went through instantly.
58  Other / Off-topic / Re: S.DICE sold to MtGox on: July 18, 2013, 06:52:01 PM
I love it, seems like a good fit  Cheesy
59  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coins xferred from CampBX disappear, never make blockchain... on: July 17, 2013, 05:17:13 PM
I've had this happen before and they eventually went through.  Pretty sure they handle transactions offline.  So your request is queued and the coins are actually sent later by another process (hopefully one that is not normally internet connected or is heavily firewalled).
60  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: 0.25 BTC Bounty - Show me a Mt Gox USD Withdrawal :) on: July 15, 2013, 01:20:02 PM
I put one in for $8,000 on 7/12.  It's currently in "confirmed" status.  I'll post here again with screenshots if it actually goes through
