I'm done with MtGox!  Sad Sad Sad

I requested a SEPA withdrawal end of August - and it's still did not arrive.

Today, when I wanted to log on to MtGox to check again, the website was down (HTTP error 500 and 502 (Bad Gateway)).

As soon as I can I'm gonna buy Bitcoins and sell them on Bitstamp.

MtGox is starting to s(t)ink ...

There was a heavy DDoS earlier today.  Not MtGox's fault.  End of August should be out now.  You should ask support if there are any problems with your withdrawal.  Last time I checked (Friday, I think) there were only a few left from August 31st.

You are joking, right? I asked them a few times. Always robot replies.

sturle, thank you for your efforts to provide factual and level-headed information.  Regarding this:
Regarding other fiat withdrawal option, I expect most of their problems will be resolved within a month, and the fastest fiat withdrawal option (except domestic JPY and manual express international wire) to take less than a week before Christmas.  I'm willing to bet 1 BTC on this.
I haven't seen any evidence that the international wire transfer situation is improving.  What do you base your optimism on?  Do you have information that isn't publicly known?
I feel a disturbance in the force.  Based on hearsay, perceived optimism and speculation based on some recent developments.

For the international wire situation to improve, other popular withdrawal methods have to be added.  I don't think any bank would take on a company like MtGox with 600k high risk customers using international wires on a regular basis as a customer.  The wire load must be reduced, and the only way I can see them do that is by adding new methods.

Noticed that OKPay deposits are back?  Have a look at the wording here: OKPay is offering a solution, but in the meantime ...  I.e. the shutdown is temporary until MtGox can implement the solution offered by OKPay.  Looks like this has been done, at least partly, because the meantime is over for deposits.  Hopefully for withdrawals as well soon.  And there is a new bank for JPY domestic transfers, which means development for banking as well.

I just hope the government shutdown in the USSA (is the Congress some kind of hospital for the mentally deceased?) doesn't stop the MtGox/CoinLab case from making progress.  For now this may be in the way of getting any other partners in the USSA.

There have been no USD wire transfers since when? June? And you ask people to base their hopes on "hearsay, optimism and speculation"?  Roll Eyes

Of course not.  Is it still in confirmed state?  Since August when?

MtGox has some problems, I have no problems admitting that, and have spent quite some time here on this forum documenting their problems.  But it is still the largest bitcoin exchange by far.  MtGox has 2/3 of all registered trading volume in EUR.

Friday is the last I heard of.  There may have been no new USD wire transfers since Friday, but I doubt I get to hear about them all.  A lot of first hand reports of USD wire transfers since June in this thread as well, btw.

I noticed week(s?) ago and asked Mt.Gox support how this could be, as
the OKPay site's statement still is "do not trade with bitcoin exchanges".

Mt.Gox answer: "No OKPay atm, we will inform you on change..."

What an awkward feeling...

This being said, I love Mt.Gox, and when OKPay works both ways, this is
a real game changer imho.

My SEPA withdrawal from August 31st still hasn't arrived, still in status "confirmed" as it has been the last five weeks. Hope this really gets processed soon...

edit: actually just changed to "pending" this evening, fingers crossed!

Me thinks that Mt. Gox could solve the crisis of getting money to large swaths of their userbase rather easily by having an agent do cash deposits as does Bitcoin-Brokers.  Seems to work fine and takes about a day for everyone to be happy as Bitcoin-Brokers implements things.

Where there is a will there is a way.  We used to be able to get millions of dollars out to cash buyers literally floating on small craft in the middle of the Bering Sea, and that was 1970's and 1980's dollars.  Ironically, most of this money originated from accounts in Japanese banks.  Or at least it was Japanese firms who supplied the money.  Those folks like fish!

I think its funny (bad) that i check in every 3-4 weeks and its the same bullshit with GOX

as with tvbcof where there is a will there is a way

We are not talking chicken feed here so it would be worth teh hassle to setup a shell in a wire friendly location ..ireland,cayman islds, swiss ...the countrys are endless and do 1 tx to this account and then distribute en masse

It seems all too easy this situation keeps dragging on unless there is some benifit to somebody

Absolutely! As clearly the Japanese banking system still uses the abacus and carrier pigeons then why doesn't mtgox do exactly this ^^^ (unless they don't have the money  Huh)

Right. If Mt. Gox 1) had the money, and 2) wanted to pay it out, they could find a way. It really isn't hard to send money if you have it.

very true....

Actually, the highest BTC price on the market is explained solely by unability to withdraw money from mtgox. It means  your dollars "inside" mtgox cost less... or nothing. Actually, less untill you can convert them to btc and withdraw. That was exactly my choice.

Concerned that blockchain bloat will lead to centralization? Storing less than 4 GB of data once required the budget of a superpower and a warehouse full of punched cards. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/87/IBM_card_storage.NARA.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punched_card

Seems like they can process 10 wires a day right now.  How many checks could Mark sign and mail in a day?  Wouldn't scale to 600k customers, but would certainly help to get things caught up.
