the bitcoin client downloads the block chain from other users on its own. You can check your progress downloading it by comparing the number in the bottom right of your bitcoin software with the number of the latest block on blockexplorer.com.
ahh ok, my bitcoin client says "128916" while the newest on blockexplorer is "128915" edit: nvm they are both now 128916, so I'm guessing that means he never sent it lol Go to address book, receiving, click "new address", label it "bitcoin forum", click ok, then copy to clipboard and paste it here. I'll send you .01 so you can see how it works ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) here ya go 17rHiuCV82iZCWcyDnkJzLGsNcfHCSWfBs much appreciated ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Sent...you should see it in your transactions window in the bitcoin client no later than 10 minutes from now but probably sooner.

Russians are extremely interested: 1) Ease way to move money. Even high corruption level did not help with avoiding high taxes and fees in that field anymore. At list for regular citizens. 2) Way to save money. Instability of Ruble is known, and regular citizen have no even a bit of trust in government regulation of it. 1998 year was harsh, and will not be forgotten for next 30-50 years (next 1 or 2 generations). 2a) Russian citizens cant trust the dollar, for their savings - that paranoia is in our genome. Looks like it good practise (my own paranoia ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) ). 2b) We see, that for unknown reason Russian government trust dollar to much, and that makes us more suspicious to our government and dollar both. ( Russian mentality always counts government like somebody who wants to cheat you. And, of course, you should answer with cheating government when possible, but this is another story). 2c) We cant trust in euro, because it is wired to tight with IMF (and they wired to $). 2d) We cant trust in oil prices, because oil prices are instable. 2e) We hardly can use gold, diamonds and precious metals, - they are overtaxed (Prisons here are not so comfortable). 3) Opportunity for FREE (relatively) money. Price of electricity is steel low, relatively to European country's. 4) We just like to try something new (well, you should not be surprised - 1917, 1991 as fresh examples). 5) We are ambitious and lazy together. I am doubt that you will find any Russian immigrant working in some dumb house cleaning business more than 5 years after arriving in new country. Well, there is always something else. Maybe i am mistaken somewhere. Feel free to discuss. I'd say these points are right on! Yes, after 1992 it was USD under the pillow, then Euro, now a USB stick full of bitcoins, encrypted with truecrypt....Russian ppl sleeping much better at night now thanks to bitcoin! ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif)

I'd say it's because there are plenty of people from Russia living in the USA who still have strong ties to home and Bitcoin makes it easier for us them to send money back home. It's also nice to take large sums of bitcoin with you on a USB stick and not have to declare the "cash" when going for a visit between USA/Russia. ...and maybe Russian Mafia likes it ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) CoinMan

Hmm we need a website called 'what fee will I need' where it looks at the waiting time and calcualtes the fee that you need to pay to get your transaction validated in reasonable time. There should be no artificial limits to what people can set their clients fee to.
Great idea! Although I do personally believe a minimum tx fee of something more like .0001 would be a reasonable limit on the minimum side.

Today's price is low, tomorrow's is high. You are welcome. CoinMan question is, what's low and what's high?
Please let me know if you find this out ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

http://dot-bit.org/Main_PageI'm selling 200 namecoins, 0.01 BTC each. PM me if interested!
I tried looking up namecoins on Google but didn't find anything except that it is some naming convention for web sites. I couldn't find a web site for them. Do they have one?

I'm the original owner of an Apple iPhone 3G that's been retired since the day iPhone4 came out. The ringer volume switches are worn off so you have to use your thumbnail to turn the volume up and down but it still works just fine. I cracked the screen and replaced it just a week before I retired it so the touchscreen is brand spankin' new. It's in good working condition.
Apple iPhone 3G, 8 GB
iOS 4.2.1
Modem firmware: 05.15.04

Most of the world hasn't discovered bitcoin yet, let's make the decimal shift NOW and keep BTC. The early adopters are smart enough to not be confused by this I IMO.

Totally
Addicted
If I'm not staring at a realtime chart, poking through this forum, fixing mining rigs, ordering new parts, searching for new parts or on bitcoin-otc or something bitcoin related then my eyes are closed.
With my eyes closed I can still see my candlestick chart and the last ticker price of BTC as I doze off. When I wake up I make a wager with myself about how much a bitcoin is now worth on mtgox. When I lose, I pay myself in bitcoin and the bitcoin client even tells me that I just sent money to myself. If I'm right, I just buy more bitcoin.
....and the NAMECOIN....don't even get me started there...
Help me.
Please.

I was able to run this on Ubuntu 11.04, 32 bit with Wine 1.3.15 with the latest Sierra Chart.
The only problem I ran into was that I had to install .NET Framework service pack 2 from the db apps section and even though it had some kind of error during the install I just clicked exit and the the sierrachartfeed-0.2.exe worked.
Pretty cool deal, thanks slush!
