it's surely going to take some time and we need to wait for government's regulations, but I think it's not impossible if there are more people using Bitcoin as real money and not just like speculating in it
actually i am using bitcoin to buy pulse using bitcoin not rupiah as a payment it's little bit cheaper if price of bitcoin continue rising yaps you same like me, just use bitcoin to buy pulse, as in Indonesia has not been much to accept bitcoin, and by the government has not considered legal? cmiiw if PHD(pizza), and the like accept bitcoin, I will buy it every week man I wish I could buy pizza with bitcoin too. Imagine how cool it's gonna be

yeah, they just updated their website, it looks much better now. Yes every merchant listed there accepts payment in Bitcoin. Their Bitcoin will be automatically converted into rupiah though so they're basically just using bitcoin as a media
do you had similiar plan to created some project about bitcoin ? like "bitcoin village" at your region.. or maybe some business accepting bitcoin Me? Nope, I'm just a normal bitcoin trader but I do join a local bitcoin community here but we don't specifically have a project like bitislands. I think Bitislands is the only project in indonesia that attempts to do something like this. I do know there's a bitcoin boulevard and bitcoin capital in amsterdam. It's basically the same thing but it's initiated by different startups there are actually a lot of places doing projects like this. There's one in Spain, Australia and US as well. But you're right, for now there's only the bitislands project in indonesia. thanks for the info. I hope projects like this do make much difference to the community. We need more people to use bitcoin...

actually i am using bitcoin to buy pulse using bitcoin not rupiah as a payment it's little bit cheaper if price of bitcoin continue rising I used Bitcoin once to buy a movie ticket and shirts online, but I've never went to an actual shop in person and then paid the bill with bitcoin. It's still a bit hard to find places that accept payment in bitcoin to buy a movie ticket? here in indonesia? where? sadly no, not in indonesia. But I heard that when bitcoin film festival was playing in bali, you could buy your tickets with bitcoin and even get a discount or something.

bitcoin island is good project, but i dont see the merchandise in Bali or in online local stores though i think it could be a big market for bitcoin users to sell any of bitcoin
you mean you don't find any merchandise shop in Bali that's accepting Bitcoin? I think I just saw 2-3 merchants in the previous page. I hope there will be more in the future i hope so, yes probably because i'm not living in bali so i dont know any bitcoin merchant there you can see the list in bitislands.com. They've already included the map too

Bitcoin's price continues to go up this week, does anyone still bother with those alt coins? Litecoin's price is much more volatile yesterday though, so yes, I actually still use those alt coins

yeah but I was only comparing to the time when I first joined in. It wasn't even 100 BTC/day, if I remember it correctly. So yeah, they're growing pretty fast
bitcoin user in indonesia growing very fast you can see total user almost 50k and user online in chat almost 300/day but we still need more people to join, especially from overseas Agreed. That's why they have those alt coins markets right? I hope bitcoin.co.id will add more coins to the market to attract more customers

your trading volume keeps growing like crazy. One time it even reached 600 BTC/24 hours, if I'm not mistaken? Well done, didn't think there would be so many bitcoin users in Indonesia
it is trading volume, so if someone buy 20 btc and sell 20 btc, volume will be 40 btc so it is not a big deal, 600/24 hours is a tiny baby comparing to the other established exchanger, but still the meat is raw, this exchanger is still fairly new yeah but I was only comparing to the time when I first joined in. It wasn't even 100 BTC/day, if I remember it correctly. So yeah, they're growing pretty fast

is there any bitcoiners here that is actively promoting bitcoin in bali? There's a question I'd like to ask...
I think there is many people that promoting bitcoin in bali, like oscar as CEO bitcoin.co.id and many others yeah well i was just wondering about the merchants. Do you guys go from door-to-door to promote bitcoin to those people or do these merchants come to you for help to accept payment in bitcoin? I'm not part of the team, but it's probably the same like what's happening in Amsterdam. Most bitcoin startups there are converting their local merchants by visiting them door-to-door, creating a public event, and approaching them personally to educate them more about bitcoin. I think there's an article about it somewhere in coindesk if you're interested to read more.

why can I only trade my bicoin to alt coins and not like, say, ripple to dogecoin or litecoin to nubits and et cetera?
i don't know but perhaps in the future they'll allow us to do so I also wish I could just buy those alt coins directly with rupiah well they're focusing more in bitcoin so I doubt that'll happen bummer... well never say never though right? well most exchanges only provide alt coin markets where people can trade them with their Bitcoin, so I guess bitcoin.co.id is no different yeah and most indonesian users prefer to buy bitcoin more anyway since the alt coin markets are still small in Indonesia, most traders probably trade in different exchanges like cryptsy or something.

yeah, and there are more members in the site now. I think bitcoin.co.id gains about 100 members/day? most of these indonesian bitcoiners are just bitcoin traders though, not users. They don't use bitcoin to shop, they just trade it to gain profit. and that's why Bitcoin's price fluctuates a lot... Can't do anything about it though, since the price is too unstable for bitcoin to be used as a real currency That's right, bitcoins are not an alternative currency. They are something you buy in the midst of a mania, and you will sell at some point in order to get back your money. yes, but in order to gain mass adoption, there needs to be more bitcoin users than traders. Most people won't want to change their fiat money to bitcoin if the price fluctuates a lot like this... Well, I'm not one to talk though, considering I also trade it for proft, but I do use it to do some online shopping from time to time
