I'm not sure where certain people on this thread are pulling their timelines from (certainly not from any consultation with us the dev team) but anyone who thinks that nothing is going to happen before the end of the year (or next year) is in for a huge disappointment when they realise how horribly wrong they are.

As we do not engage in bribery there is really nothing to plan, either they want to add us in which case they will add us, or they don't want to add us, in which case they will not. Presumably at some point in time they will change their minds and decide they want to add us but this is not something the dev team can control, instead we will continue focusing on things that matter like actual development.

Poloniex users or prospective users who want us added should make their voices heard and let Poloniex know, as a business at the end of the day Poloniex only cares what their userbase asks for not what outsiders ask for.

There is certainly no intention from the team to moderate the discussion here in any way whatsoever, nor has it even been something that has been thought about, a friendly reminder to everyone to please keep the discussion here on topic and not about other coins, thanks.

Certainly, all exchanges should of course be treated with caution, though the smaller ones even more so.

Note that as always we recommend people treat smaller exchanges with extreme caution, as our largest exchange where almost all of our volume takes place Bittrex is the safest choice. In general do not leave money that you can't afford to lose on exchanges for long periods of time as you never know what might happen.

Even assuming the above were true - that is that things might carry on exactly the same for over three years, longer than the coin has even existed this far (and this is quite an assumption as e.g. if the price were to triple logic dictates that the premine would then last longer for instance...) - this would put the coin at over 5 years old and well into maturity and at the current pace of development very well developed, it would be long enough for the coin to truly outshine a field of otherwise uninspiring and scam competitors, and it would certainly be long enough for such a coin to attract further outside attention and investment. So even if it were true it is in my opinion not as major an issue as some would believe.

That said I don't think it is actually true as in even a year from now things are likely to have changed drastically - it is simplistic and wrong to try and predict the future behaviour in this way.

No unlike the desktop wallet both our mobile wallets are HD (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Deterministic_wallet) this means that just a single backup (or just the recovery phrase) will always be sufficient to keep your money safe, the wallet is able to regenerate/recalculate all used addresses from an old backup even if you have generated millions of them since the backup was made. That said in such an instance you will still lose other transaction history information (like labels and whatnot) if you recover from an old backup, so there are still benefits to frequent backups - but is not as important as the desktop wallet.

What is very important is that you keep the recovery phrase and/or a single backup copy somewhere safe so that you can always recover and keep in mind that if the recovery phrase is stolen/compromised it can be used to steal your balance (so its important you keep it in a safe way - the wallet backups are encrypted with a password of your choice to help facilitate this)

With the desktop wallet (and this applies for pretty much all coins) backups are good for (roughly) 100 new addresses - so you also don't need to backup after absolutely every transaction but it is good practice to do so regularly. If more than 100 addresses are allocated since last backup then you can lose money when restoring from the old backup - we will likely do something to make this process more friendly/safer in a future release.

I'm not aware of anyone having George's details - however if anyone does I am sure they will correct me.
It is not a project I have followed very closely so I can't really say much more about it than the above.

Just to make sure it is 100% clear, the Gulden shares project is run by a community member and is not something we as the dev team are involved with, we do not have any direct oversight of the project or control over the funds involved with it etc.

While I do appreciate the support the project brings in terms of hash rate etc. there is always ultimately a risk when handing money over to an individual in a situation like this, that individual ultimately has complete control over the money you entrust them with and it is out of our power to ensure that everything goes smoothly, some caution should always be exercised in terms of how much money you are willing to expose to this sort of risk.

This is not to say that I specifically think George has sinister motives there has been nothing so far that would indicate this - however of course things can go wrong even without sinister motives - at the end of the day as the dev team we have to trust people to make their own judgement on what they do with their money so we leave everyone to make their own decision on this sort of thing, I just feel that it does need to be clear that the dev team is not involved here though so that an informed decision can be reached.

A reminder to everyone to be cautious when using exchanges, this goes for all exchanges even the larger ones, you never know when something might go wrong as has happened so many times in the past.
It is best to keep most of your coins in your person wallet and leave only coins you are actively trying to trade on the exchange, Gulden has fast confirmations so you can always move the coins back again if you need too without a long wait.

We urge extra caution using the smaller exchanges that we are on, Yobit, Safecex etc. as we do not know much about them and there have been one or two rumours about them. Though as mentioned above even our recommended exchange - Bittrex should only be trusted when necessary.

If you have an Android or iOS phone you may want to give our recently released wallets a try, or else our desktop wallet - if it is our development you are interested in then it would be best to try the product for yourself.

What does coinmarketcap mean? A totally flawed measure - a few people (probably the developers) paid 500 satoshi for a coin so now all 10 billion of those coins are worth that? Or some pump group (probably collaborating with the devs) is temporarily pumping it for some profit? Please. Any clown can get any junk coin into the top 20 temporarily with ease.
Today their market cap is high because someone with a few BTC bought some coins and/or the developrs made a bit of hype, a few weeks or months from now they will be worth dirt again when it all falls flat on its face. This is great for traders but it means absolutely nothing in terms of actual real world progress. To simply view marketcap at any given point in time without watching long term trends and actually looking at why the market cap is where it is and whether its sustainable is naive at best.

If you are a short term trader looking for short term spikes that you can cash in then by all means go elsewhere there are - as we keep saying - 100s of other coins that cater to your needs, generating lots of pumps and dumps for traders to profit from is not something that interests us in the least. Gulden on the other hand is slowly trending upwards in market cap while at the same time continuously making real quality progress in terms of an actual product that can and will have real world mass appeal, and we are just getting warmed up. Gulden is building up steam and one day it is going to burst, people like you are going to be left behind with confused looks on your faces wondering how you managed to miss all the signs and wondering why you opted to go for a few short term 10% gains instead of backing something real.

By all means though go ahead and 'invest' in your coins with 'marketing' your choice, over here we are going to continue building something real and we have plenty of users who are willing to join us on that adventure, we don't need day traders.

Innovation for the sake of innovation is just another type of hype, people want products that actually perform a useful role in their lives in a way that feels great.
Investors - real long term ones - want users. Users are the real commodity, if investors wanted a cheap bitcoin fork like most altcoins provide they would just make their own.
