41  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2100 TH] CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: April 28, 2015, 04:26:35 AM
My bad, sorry. The only error I get is, status:DEAD. I am reading up on how to upgrade cgminer, to no avail. Every time I try to flash an updated firmware my screen just goes blank with a stupid message I don't recall right now. Again, my apologies. I really wanted to see my hash rate over 5 TH/s without rentals.

..

I should also add Smiley some people in other pools have made comment about me commenting in other threads ...
but that was something I did all the time (for over 3 years) before I started the pool here last year.
You could say that the crap I've seen other pools do are some of the things that I make sure I don't do.

lol, just reading them now; you should listen to him, that newbie with 26 posts knows so much better then you !!*ehem*
and you too philipma1957, you're not mining there no more, no more say from you, and no more "dodge" for you too

wait, this user isn't opentoe, right?

You guys rock! I have a quick question. Are there known issues with the s2? I'm asking because I just got one and it refuses to connect to the pool. Is there anything I can try or should I just point it at ck pool? Again, thank you guys, for all that you do.

got the right arguments set? (i know, small stupid question)

No, I haven't done any modding. What specific arguments need to be added? The miner works fine at the other pools I use. (slush, emc, eligius, btcguild and f2pool)

EDIT: I'm not sure if you were asking about my user name? On the pool I go by afaque.

Block!! Let's go for another.
45  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [New] [170GH Currently] DeltaPool Public - Prop / Block Rewards VARDIFF on: April 17, 2015, 11:56:42 PM

I am always curious about new things.

I would like to ask specifically:
How you plan to counter hopping?

I quote a statement from a respected community member:
Quote
2) Prop - but then all the long term miners get paid less for their shares than the smart hoppers, so no one in their right mind would mine at a Prop pool.
Full thread here so you may see entire context: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=893133.msg11113709#msg11113709

Hopping yes this can be an issue, what I am coding the front end to do along with the forked stratum-mining thanks to Slush0 is have a banning system, if it sees certain addresses stopping and starting, or a miner only coming in and certain intervals it will ban them for a set time.
Of course, I am open to suggestions of what the pool would be better using than prop.

I think Kano runs one of the best pools around. IF I was going to start a pool, I would model it after a proven system that works. Just my 2 satoshi.

Hopefully it"s just waiting for that last block to confirm.

Thanks Kano. I love this pool!

You have to be a fool to mine here.
Please expand on this.

is this mining pool died / not pay out?
From my personal experience, no, they have not died. And yes, they do pay out. It just seems they have a negative reputation. To each their own. I have made over .25 btc with them so i will continue to mine there as a backup. (just my opinion)
51  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2100 TH] CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: April 09, 2015, 09:12:13 PM
I just rented 10 TH to throw in and hopefully help break this damn block.

maybe it will do better then the 1ph I tossed at it last nite. (only for  just under 2 hours About .5btc worth of rentals)

This is my first attempt at cloud mining, so I am just getting my feet wet. Won't hurt to try though.

Nice streak again!

Out of curiosity, do you guys split your hashes over different pools?  I have about half on Slush and half on BTC Guild for now.  I did like the consistently of Antpool (in terms of blocks being found), but with all of the DDoS issues they have been having recently, I've been staying way.
If by splitting on one device? No.
I just set backup pools incase one or two have problems...

I have 4 s3s on slush's and 4 s3s  on kano's. Seems to be working out so far.

Which pool has paid more since you started this method?

With slush's I get ~.0035 per round. With kano I get ~.021 per round. I would like to point them all at kano's but I like the way they supplement each other.(Slush is a lot bigger than kano, so does more rounds per day.) So my agenda is to get more rigs instead.
54  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: How to find/join a private pool network. on: March 30, 2015, 09:58:40 AM
+1 for kano's pool. If not comfortable putting all hash in one spot then maybe put one on kano, one on slush and one on a pps, like antpool or emc. Three variations, three different payouts. See which one you like best then move your rigs to that one. Experiment and have fun. Good luck!
55  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: most profitable pool on: March 28, 2015, 03:07:47 AM
Eclipse Mining Consortium (aka Eclipse or EMC) at 5% PPS pays best for me and that's where I mine.
Many won't mine here because of the association with Butterfly Labs. Me, I don't care.
Always paid within an hour of request. No question in my mind that payouts are bigger here than anywhere else.

I would agree that they are the best pps pool I have found. As far as best paying pool, I would disagree. Steady yes. Most profitable? No. But I plan on pointing a couple of s3s there when I get my s5. Regardless of who there associated with, they have been consistent. I fell for BAN's higher payout, only to find out that they don't actually pay out. When I put all my miners on slush and kano, I had over .007 (negligible, I know) When it finally went to payout  it was reduced to 0.00000000. Lesson learned? Stay away from BAN! Eclipse is much safer. The only problem with eclipsemc is they don't have an updated thread on here. Also, their DGM payments aren't bad until you hit an 11 day block!
56  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Methods of getting free electricity on: March 25, 2015, 12:43:17 AM
I think the gasifier+generator would be the best (cheapest) option. As long as you have access to wood, which you should always be able to find on craigslist, the only real investment would be the generator. Except for time, of course. (just remember, it take somewhere around 25 lbs. of wood to make a gallon of gas) This is the idea my buddy and I are working on now. The government even tried to help us out. http://www.build-a-gasifier.com/fema-gasifier-plans/

58  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: MSB/Money Transmitter? on: March 20, 2015, 03:02:16 AM
I'm new member, but I want to make the law clear for everyone since this site is such a popular.

Law is pretty much interpretation. The link above pertains to a business. Earlier I read this, which was interesting. http://fincen.gov/statutes_regs/guidance/html/FIN-2013-G001.html

The pertinent part

Definitions of User, Exchanger, and Administrator

This guidance refers to the participants in generic virtual currency arrangements, using the terms "user," "exchanger," and "administrator." A user is a person that obtains virtual currency to purchase goods or services. An exchanger is a person engaged as a business in the exchange of virtual currency for real currency, funds, or other virtual currency. An administrator is a person engaged as a business in issuing (putting into circulation) a virtual currency, and who has the authority to redeem (to withdraw from circulation) such virtual currency.

Users of Virtual Currency

A user who obtains convertible virtual currency and uses it to purchase real or virtual goods or services is not an MSB under FinCEN's regulations. Such activity, in and of itself, does not fit within the definition of "money transmission services" and therefore is not subject to FinCEN's registration, reporting, and recordkeeping regulations for MSBs.

So, as the first responder said, it depends what you are doing.

60  Bitcoin / Hardware / Antminer s3 GUI problem on: March 05, 2015, 01:57:04 AM
Hello everyone. I have a problem that my friend google hasn't been helpful with. If I point chrome or firefox at my miner's ip addresses they come up as a blank pages. Not titled blank page, just a blank page. If I follow the addresses with /cgi-bin/luci I get what seems like a backup interface. Firefox worked for a short time but then quit. How can I get my browsers to display the GUI correctly? Any help would be appreciated.
