when bitcoin is moving so fast, do we want to see all chopper updates?

Only speaking for myself, but: yeah, definitively!

Has anybody created some sort of animated gif using the latest chart buddy images? It might be funny to use the last 24 images on a rolling basis to give you a feel for how the last day has gone. Or maybe grab 24 images once a day and then be able to show each day’s movement. Seems like something one of you fellas would enjoy creating.

Had the same idea and tried that a few months ago.
I downloaded the last 24 CB images and created an animated gif. The result was totally disappointing more like something to trigger epyleptic seizures than show the price development over the last 24 hours. I then concluded that Richy_T must have tried that already and dismissed the idea.

Your post provides further evidence to support that DirtyKeyboard's solution came off in a kind of seamless and/or user-friendly kind of a way.

Fee market is going totally nuts on seemingly unprecedented levels:

https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#BTC,all,weight

All things considered I interpret that as bullish sign, but it still sucks. Not only for LN operators channel mgmt but also for simply transacting on chain.

Oh fuck.  I hate when I do that.  I wrote a whole post, and then I accidentally hit refresh, and that does not work out so well.

We all hate that. You got my sympathy.

 Then we should all love this:

@philipma1957, good news for all those who want to return to their youth - and just when the "medicine" is on the market, all long-term bitcoiners will be able to afford it Wink

A new therapeutic developed from compounds found in pig’s blood can reverse the age of rats, researchers claim in a new study.
The anti-ageing therapeutic – dubbed E5 – was developed from the blood of a young pig and injected into ageing rats, according to a new study published recently in the journal GeroScience.
E5, which consists of complex nanoparticles and young plasma sourced from pigs, could reverse the biological clocks of the rats by nearly 70 per cent on average, said researchers, including those from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
If the results can be translated to humans, it could mean the reversion of an 80-year-old to the age of 26, scientists claimed.

I really hope to start to see this finally on real life, but im reading and seeing this in the news from the early 2000 but no ones has reached the market yet.

Imagine this is true and fully available, are we prepared to live much more longer? With all of our beliefs changing so fast in this new era? I think we are gonna hit a big wall about mental health, and we gonna ended pray to die. (Yes i know this sound really fatalistic, but im talking about a hipotetical case and in a philosopical way.)

Sticking in this planet-sized shit show for much longer than necessary is not exactly desirable IMHO, if it gets already boring because you start to think you've seen all the madness with mid-fifty, what will your thoughts be at 125? Nah.
I'll let this wonder drug (which for sure is perfectly safe and 100% effective)  pass and stick with the fine and great medicine we already have that make your life not longer but more bearable.

<insert-wine-and-dope.gif>

Though it would be nice to administer this to my fellow hat companions, these smart little critters would really deserve more than 18 months of lifetime.

In that spirit: Cheers all!

The backup and the "original" are fully identical. Before writing it down I just xor the original 2048bit key that results in a valid seed for electrum with a password and store that value as BIP39 encoded seed words. Xor that again with the valid password and you get the original and valid electrum seed back.

I tried to look up Xor but I don't really understand what that is.. I guess it is creating a hash and then reverse hash or something like that, so yeah, maybe I am missing something in regards to what you are doing since I don't really know how to xor anything... at least not so far in my bitcoin journey (or otherwise in my personal life - not that I know about.. maybe I had been XORing things without realizing that was what I was doing all this time).

Quote from: XOR gate
..
An XOR gate implements an exclusive or, that is, a true output results if one, and only one, of the inputs to the gate is true.
..

Given that the key is basically just a very large integer number and given that any password (or a hash thereof) can also be represented by a equally large integer, you can xor the key(-number) K with the password(-number) P and get a new large number N.
Means K^P =  N and N^P = K

Let's assume for the below example that we deal only with numbers up to 15 (4 bits), let K be 13 and let P be 9, the result of xoring them is 4 (see below):

Code:
13 = 1101
     ^
 9 = 1001
=========
 4 = 0100

Now if we take the "fake seed" N (4) and xor it again with the password P (9) we get again our key K (13):
Code:
 9 = 1001
    ^
 4 = 0100
=========
13 = 1101

To quote loosely from Applied Cryptography: Xor is a extremly secure cryptographic algorithm under the assumption that they key is of perfect randomness and at least as long as the payload to encrypt.

That is not to say that the above described procedure is by any means anything even resembling serious cryptography, but it should delay the regular thug and win me some more time to secure the funds via backup.

But the procedure could be extended to work only on the seed and calculate the checksum itself. The N value would then not only look like a seed but be a valid seed and you could even transfer some smallish fund to that camouflage wallet and hope the thug just takes the few sats you left there and is happy with his loot.

in addition to the options for losing keys mentioned by Biodom, there is always an unexpected hacking option. We can recall the story that happened a few months ago with Libbitcoin, where key generation was carried out with insufficient entropy, as a result of which the keys generated in this way were especially vulnerable to hackers. This way, you can be confident in the safety of your keys and still face the loss of your bitcoins. The probability of this is almost zero, but still not zero.
This is why addresses must be created on a computer which has no internet connectivity and printed on a printer that will never have internet access. Printer spooler buffers can be hacked.
Whats wrong with handwriting?
All possible leaking problems avoided and it should not be like a big deal writing a dozen of simple words down.
well, in this case you rely on additional wallet or ledger/trezor software, right?
<snip>
No, I create the seed with electrum on a computer that never goes online. I write it down on two pieces of paper (backup) and store it safely.* Once I'm done I shred the harddisk (the linux tool 'shred' not actual shredding) and reinstall linux + electrum from cd for the next time I have to sign a tx.
I have never seen any use in these little USB gadgets, too much trust involved for my taste.

*I also apply some crypto-fu by xoring with a simple password before writing it down, it still looks like a seed but isn't one

I don't mean to pry too much, but what happens if something happens to your wallet, so then you go to use your seed (hypothetically, maybe you had not accessed that seed for 3-5 years) and then once you try to retrieve your back up seed and put the two pieces together, one of your two pieces of paper is missing, damaged or otherwise not sufficiently readable?

What I am getting at is that I hope you are not just relying on one back up.

Another question would be if your wallet and its back up happens to be in the same house (or location) at the same time.. what if your house burns down? or gets hit by an asteroid (alien spaceship) and completely destroyed?   In this second scenario, you had both your regular and your backup destroyed at the same time... and that could also be a problem of having ONLY one back up, and I am not really opposed to having one of the back ups in the same building as the wallet (the primary), but there seems to be a need for some kind of locational diversity, even if it might be a separate building on the same property... but yeah, some folks might feel that they don't really have second buildings, and so maybe those people might get stuck with some kind of safety deposit boxes which ends up being a bit of a hassle since almost two safety deposit boxes might be needed unless there might be some ways to disguise the backups in plain sight.. which I would suggest is not an impossible task, even though it could end up in confusion for anyone who might not know the instructions for how to untangle the puzzle.

By the way, none of my questions are meant for you or anyone else to provide specifics regarding their own practices, and/or even if there might be some family members involved, there could be a kind of system in which a family member agrees that I am holding something personal in their filing cabinet or their safe or in one (or two) of their books or something in which, they might need to know not to throw away or to destroy, in the event that I am not visiting them on a fairly regular basis to be able to ensure that the location and/or the contents of the location is not messed with.

To clarifiy, I don't use any shamir secret sharing or similar tech as you seem to assume. The backup and the "original" are fully identical. Before writing it down I just xor the original 2048bit key that results in a valid seed for electrum with a password and store that value as BIP39 encoded seed words. Xor that again with the valid password and you get the original and valid electrum seed back.

Regarding the other (very valid) concerns like storing in different locations etc. that you bring up, these have been well considered and in my view sufficiently addressed but due to obvious opsec reasons I'd prefer not to go into too much detail.

FYI.. mempool has just quadrupled (4x) in the last 24 hours!

Yep, there comes the profit-taking.
I am sure that wasn't the start of the run-up we are expecting all, but definitely a nice and promising move.

guessing game:

where do you guys think will be the lowest coming low that will never be revisited again?

I'm undecided... Taking FTX + Gox coins distribution and Blackrock manipulation into account my guesses are 22k-23k range or 19k-20k range.

We're not gonna go under 25k but if we do it will only be for a very short time (as vague as this is, it is ofc only wishful thinking).

I would like to say that I'm extremely happy that the amount of farmers decreased so significantly in the WO recently ...

Does someone know how this fantastic result was achieved?

Whoever did this, I would like to send you a huge THANK YOU for bringing us back this great experience  Kiss

If you check this topic you will notice a lot of familiar "faces":

I'd rather say they flocked over there for quicker and easier merits. Kudos to hugeblack for setting up that farmer honeypot.
