Mining doing nothing but eating up the planets resources, with less and less efficiency.
If bitcoin goes mega scale someone will have to find a way to make it greener. Or we will all be sitting naked and hungry, oh but with some bitcoins. Woo hoo.
Bitcoin is not the cause of the world's environmental problems. The energy is being used for a productive purpose, unlike the energy I'm wasting right now reading this thread. Right? I feel like I'm transported back in time to 2011 when the same fears were expressed and dispelled.

Time to fulfill Afrikoin's prophecy. I'm already sold out and waiting for $750.
Not 100% on 750 but I'm in fiat unless it pops up convincingly through those walls. It's been a bit of a slow grind down so we'll see where it bottoms out. I hope Africoin is correct. JJG thought I was a reckless gambler when stating I had gone all fiat @ 1200 USD. I see no reason to play bits of this and that and percentages. I go with momentum and and have no problem reassessing my position and changing if need be. Not panicking and buying back when it went higher than 1220 took some restraint but I was confident in the position.

The last uptrend lasted too long and improved market indicators, so the ABC completed (I was waiting for the C ) much faster than I expected. Now I believe that the upcoming correction should find support around 1000$ - 1050$. Then target 2200$ in 3 - 4 months, after some sideways. Sounds about right. I really can't see us going under 1000$

You playing your whole investment on down? Wow!!!! If so, you sound like an irrational gambler. I keep most in cold storage but what I do have on exchanges I go pretty much all in or out depending on which way I think it's going. It might be a poor strategy for some but it's worked well for me so far.

I cant believe maxwell has the audacity to call a miner optimization an attack. Thats what ASIC manufacturers have been doing all along, optimizing miners.
It's not an optimization though. It's an exploit to gain advantage with no positive benefit to the network. It's not like designing a more power efficient chip or getting cheaper power because those things retain the way they mine blocks. This is using an exploit in the code secretly to gain monetary advantage.... Isnt optimization about efficiency and monetary advantage? If you had an ASIC manufacturing firm and you discovered a way to create chips which give your miner a monetary advantage would you not pursue it? I'm not faulting them for doing it but now that it's discovered the advantage will be gone soon and it reveals the motivation for resisting segwit has more to do with loss of their advantage than making bitcoin strong. Optimising your own profits by gaming the code is fair play but it's not what I consider an optimisation to the function of mining or transactions. Since code can be changed, I suspect the advantage will not exist for much longer.

This is using an exploit in the code secretly to gain monetary advantage and then blocking advancements to the code that would end this exploit but provide needed scaling improvement to everyone's benefit. I think the price is rising because we are seeing that BU is seen as very likely to have diminished and dwindling support which makes a hard fork less likely.

Why are bitstamp prices so much lower than everyone else's?

I've just received notification that the final inspection by the electric company will take place tomorrow. If everything goes well, by tomorrow afternoon NastyMining will officially be running on solar power! The NastyMining Green Energy Project was just mentioned in this article: Very cool, great job Og! I just read the bitcoin.com article before coming here.

I changed my mind @ 1100 and went to fiat again. Too good of a shorting opportunity to sit on the sidelines.

Nastyfans is all for fun but it's the most serious and trustworthy early bitcoin project that I know of. It will go down in history on the plus side and I'm really thankful to have been a fan from the start. Og and nonnakip are true bitcoiners and it shows. They deserve to win the poll so I voted.

I hope you don't think I was in any way critical of you or the thread Africoin. It's one I regularly follow and appreciate and will be donating you soon. Any time someone raises themselves up to do something worthwhile there is no end of people who will try to tear you down to their level.

What is Tony Vayes smoking?
You knoww, Vinny and Tony could be part of the same circles playing the masses by taking differing opinions (extreme) on the matter I was really surprised by Tony's comment I agree with Tone Vays. I bought back in at a large BTC profit and sent the proceeds to cold storage. I'm sitting it out from here til long term with enough fiat to last for months if need be. No need for too much greed at risk of losing current profits. People telling you to sell now are wanting to buy your cheap coins like I already did.

LAUDA, whew ok, that's looks better Thx for the link and your input on this What you were looking at is : In the last 24 hours (144 blocks), Unlimited + Classic hashrate is ~1366 PH/s (37.5%) of the total Bitcoin network (3642 PH/s).
If you compare this to the nodes + the desires of the economic majority, you can see how something is obviously wrong. Miners should be working towards the interest of the users and the economy, but in this case they aren't. The reason for that is is because a *certain* mr. Jihan is controlling pretty much all of the BU hashrate (he just diversified it under other pools that suddenly popped up with hundreds of petahashes). This is a better and simpler way to view the current total (signalling): https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/pools?resolution=24h and you can see individual pools signalling here (when they mine blocks): https://www.blocktrail.com/BTCPeople are panicking that we are dropping down to $1000. I love it. This was a far off dream not that long ago.
Half a year ago, $1000 was a dream. Now, people are panicking because we are back to $1000? How times quickly change. Bitcoin dies @ 1000 Goodbye bitcoin gobble gobble

And there she goes........
Any idea what just caused the crash ? Doesn't looked like a correction to me
what crash? Just see the bitfinex movement buddy. Price dropped down by $40 oh i see down -1.5% seems like blind selling. pretty sure random blind selling will break support at these high levels then at -5% people will get nervous at -15% they're gonna panic and then i can finally buy back, before the forking. Right after the monkeys fly out of my butt! You have monkeys in your butt?
