I cant believe maxwell has the audacity to call a miner optimization an attack. Thats what ASIC manufacturers have been doing all along, optimizing miners.

Where did he say that? I don't think he called Asicboost an attack. By the way according to Bitmain they never used this optimization.. lol what a bunch of liars.

ASIC mining has always been a den of thieves, scam-artists, conmen and bullshitters.
God knows how many people have been ripped off and turned off bitcoin by collapsed, scammy or outright thieving cheats surrounding ASIC mining schemes. Jihan is just the latest King Rat shithead that is at the top of the dung-heap for now ... the sooner people get used to the idea that ASIC miner producers and mining farms are generally a bunch of scumbag fucktards that have never given two shits about bitcoin the sooner we can move ahead on a sound philosophical basis.
Any devs who try to make nice with the miners is setting themselves up for fail ... the miners need to be treated like shit (mostly because they are a bunch of shit) or else they will ruin it.
Even monkeys and babies know to avoid unhelpful, anti-social individuals.

It's not an optimization though. It's an exploit to gain advantage with no positive benefit to the network. It's not like designing a more power efficient chip or getting cheaper power because those things retain the way they mine blocks. This is using an exploit in the code secretly to gain monetary advantage and then blocking advancements to the code that would end this exploit but provide needed scaling improvement to everyone's benefit. I think the price is rising because we are seeing that BU is seen as very likely to have diminished and dwindling support which makes a hard fork less likely.

If you had an ASIC manufacturing firm and you discovered a way to create chips which give your miner a monetary advantage would you not pursue it?

I'm not faulting them for doing it but now that it's discovered the advantage will be gone soon and it reveals the motivation for resisting segwit has more to do with loss of their advantage than making bitcoin strong. Optimising your own profits by gaming the code is fair play but it's not what I consider an optimisation to the function of mining or transactions. Since code can be changed, I suspect the advantage will not exist for much longer.

At the same time its hard to expect them to agree to a change of the playing field which will render millions they possibly spent on R&D to take advantage of this optimization a total waste.

Their so called "optimization" is an exploit of the blockheader from my understanding.

Afrikon.... I dunno about the drop to $800 man.... seems... kinda unlikely but also when everyone is blindly bullish that's when things falls. The Japan use of bitcoin is pretty bullish, the fact that BU/Bitman is becoming a joke is also good... they're not gonna hold back progress for long, the new bill in Mexico that allows institutions to put money in bitcoin is also good news I cant believe maxwell has the audacity to call a miner optimization an attack. Thats what ASIC manufacturers have been doing all along, optimizing miners.
Why are you backing miners who are obviously blocking segwit for personal gain, even when it holds back the rest of the community? The motive became pretty clear, doesn't matter if it's an "attack" or not

Just because miners profit from SegWit not getting activated does not mean SegWit is any good. Quite the opposite. SegWit is the single worst proposal ever taken seriously in the development of Bitcoin.

I also believe a mild correction is due within the next couple of weeks. Because of that I exited 50% of my positions around $1200-$1300. Let's make $800 great again!

I don't think either of us are equipped to claim that it is the "worst proposal in bitcoin" You know price is going to $1500 if it gets activated.. you definitely want it too
