Funny how those who can't support their position with strength, conviction, facts, data and sensibility must resort to arguing about whether one should discuss a thing when discussing a subject.
It is funny, isn't it? So, why don't you stop?

I must point out that in the case of a launch of an EMP weapon from a boat in the Gulf of Mexico, there would be no immediate traceback to the perp
So, they can track missile launches on the other side of the planet, but not in their own back yard?

I guess it's like cyclists, you develop a hatred for the object that enables these people to act like specialised douchebags, I think I suddenly understand why gun control advocates hate guns so much, there seem to be specific objects out there that bring out the worst in some people Tongue.
More like there is a certain group of people that imbue magical powers into objects. FirstAscent is a gun-control nut, too.

Actually, to put it bluntly, the problem in America is 300 million guns. I know you want to make that number 500 million pushing one billion, because you think that's actually going to improve the situation. Obviously, if 300 million guns can't solve the problem, one billion won't either. Here's a clue: the problem is 300 million guns.
See what I mean? He blames the guns, not the people who have them.

Incorrect. I stated that the problem is the quantity of guns, which is a direct result of laws, policies, lobbying and culture. A perfect and beautiful example would be your interest in more guns, rather than less.
You're still blaming the things, not the people.

Dude. What part of my quoted statement do you not understand?

There is a simple truth here. Guns, an object, which there are 300 million of in this country, need to be reduced significantly in number, not increased.

If only there were fewer things, the people who had them wouldn't use them against the people who didn't?

This wasn't input from me to waste time, but to discuss some serious ideas. For very small groups with special interests as mentioned above, such voting could give weird outcomes, but for larger population groups, I assume that the people would be able to select what would be in their best interest.

And there's where you're wrong. The larger the group, the less likely it is to get a good result. Read up on these concepts:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rational_ignorance
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argumentum_ad_populum

Now that you know why Democracy doesn't work, consider this as an option:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarcho-capitalism
Quote
In an anarcho-capitalist society, law enforcement, courts, and all other security services would be provided by privately funded competitors rather than through taxation, and money would be privately and competitively provided in an open market.

Yes, Bitcoin is off Course Powered By Greed - I mean Only "The Rich Elite" Can afford the Proper Hardware To mine It!
But... I Personally Am against greed(It Sickens Me) It is what drives Evil People to do the things they do. I'm NOT saying
we should all hold hands and Sing "Amazing Grace" but still... There Are More "Attractive" Motivations, I'm Sure.

Tsk.... Greed is just self-interest. Without greed, people would be starving left and right, because they weren't self-interested enough to eat.
50  Other / Politics & Society / Re: If Anarchy can work, how come there are no historical records of it working? on: June 07, 2013, 01:49:23 AM
If ancaps arent utopian, anarchists arent either. An ideal world is a stateless world. capitalism and communism are impossible in a stateless world.
Capitalism (private ownership of the means of production, voluntary trade of products and services - including those privately-owned means of production) works just fine in a stateless world.
On communism.
Marx also expected communism to result in a stateless world, and the withering away of the state, as people worked toward a common good without coercion, and that the state would disappear out of obsolescence, yes?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Withering_away_of_the_state
He did, but Communism ends up requiring a State. That Dunbar number means that outside of a small community there are no common goals.
Henry Hazlitt wrote a fine critique of a Communist State, and explained why it is inevitable, in Time Will Run Back. An entertaining read, if you like discussions of economics (which I assume most of us here do).

Sup with all the namecalling and aggression?

When did I call you an unsupported "name"?

I took you off ignore to read this? WTF?
Not off topic example of anarchy working: Queer squats in urban decay. Queer zine libraries. I can go on, and on.

Now that you have me off ignore, let me save you some time next time you get pissy with me:

<------ unignore button                                                                                                  Show post---------^

You won't have to take me off ignore to read what I've written.

And nobody has ever said that anarcho-communism doesn't work. In fact, it works great - for small, close knit groups like a particular city's gay community. Get beyond that "us," however, and it breaks down fast. Until it's no longer communism, or no longer anarchy.

Why not direct donations to an established fund?

Because that wouldn't benefit him any?

What is a fee, if not a tax?

The U.S. government is all about freedom. It thinks it is delicious and gobbles it up whenever available.
+1

It's not the companies fault, yes. I don't think anyone would argue that. I just think that many children die from peanut allergies, and it would be the right thing to do to change the appearance of the candy. Even if it saves one life, it's worth it. Remember that these are children who are going to want to eat candy and if they make a mistake, they often pay with their life. As was the case here unfortunately.

It's one thing to say "they should change the shape of the candy." It's another thing entirely to actually do that. The shape of M&M's are a direct result of the production process. To change the shape, they'd need to completely change the process. Mars would more likely discontinue the Peanut Butter M&M's than rework the whole process.

Just curious, do you two really consider me to be the dickwad, here?
i do.
Not that I care, but why?
I don't see what makes him a dickwad
(I didn't go through all the pages though)
a) his reply(it hurts me very deeply Cry)
If I thought you were capable of feeling emotions, I might believe you.
Great! now you don't even understand what lack of emphaty means.
You just getting stupider and stupider...
What's emphaty?

And if you were truly hurt by what I called you, may I suggest you do something to change those facts? I know you can't do much about being autistic, and your sociopathy is likewise genetic, but you could try and grow up a little.

And any time you want to respond to this, you can:
b) he can't see that NAP is inconsistent, and refuses to accept that a state can be a good choice. Explaining it with his "fact" about states, with that it kills people who chooses not to behave in a certain way, and then failing to see that the NAP does the same.
The difference being that a State kills people who have done no harm to others, and a NAP-respecting person only kills people in defense.

Well, the opinion of a sociopathic autistic boy-child doesn't really matter in my esteem.
