41  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2024?to 60000 again? on: July 09, 2024, 10:43:53 PM
So nothing is absolute and cannot be generalized. What I'm discussing is just whether it can reach 60,000 in 2024. Maybe it will go downhill in the rest of 2024 and directly drop to 20,000, 30,000 or even 10,000.
It's heavily unlikely that Bitcoin doesn't cross the 60,000$ mark this year yet. Right now Bitcoin is almost reaching to 58,000$, and if this bullish tendency can be maintained, we are going to see Bitcoin back to the price range you are arguing about faster than we imagined last week. There is a small chance that Bitcoin will go downhill for the rest of 2024, and by "small chance" I'm being really open minded regards your point of view.

It's halving year, Bitcoin is bullish, the biggest sharks of financial world are fully focused in Bitcoin and it can be already considered a mainstream investment... If Bitcoin still were a risky asset with potential to crash to the bottom prices you mentioned, I don't think institutional investors and funds of investments would be depositing so much money on it.
42  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Act of nationalism or another action of a high-risk taker? on: July 09, 2024, 10:32:45 PM
Is this an act of nationalism or another action of a high-risk taker?
It's an act of marketing and personal propaganda. Nationalism goes much further than cheering for the national soccer team to win a match or championship. For a nationalist there are much more important matters than soccer to think about and to work on. Anyway, it's undeniable it's a high risk bet, since there is big money on the table, with low chances of winning, as we know Canada is a weak national team, compared to the favorite Argentina. Maybe 300,000$ is nothing for him to risk, considering it's not the first time news about Drake placing and losing huge bets appear on the internet.
43  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online gambling is the most fair gambling we can access on: July 09, 2024, 06:17:17 PM
But if you think a out it, this form of "legal" gambling is unfair to the gambler in the sense that it has ridiculously large house edge rates and very low return to player rates. For instance, state lotteries have an RTP of around 50%. They get to keep the rest! State owned slots and kino games can have a house edge of 30%! This is absurd compared to online casinos where the absolute maximum of a house edge I have seen is 5% on any game, but usually it's 1% for most games and 2.5% for slots.
It's true. State lotteries are the worst as you said. However, not only gamblers are aware about it, but also the state as well! And they are also aware about the fact gamblers prefer playing at virtual gambling houses owned by corporations, instead of the state owned ones. With that in mind, politicians are already scheming new methods to collect more money from gamblers for the state. In the coming years, you can expect lots of new regulations aiming to create or increase taxation over gamblers' winnings and gambling activity in general directed to the online services owned by corporations.
44  Economy / Economics / Re: True wealth and fake wealth on: July 09, 2024, 05:41:41 PM
Land and property not good because you can not take it with you or move from another place to another in some case the car would be even better asset to have.
I believe you are talking about war circumstances, where you may need to escape and run for your life at anytime. So by true wealth you mean to have tools which will allow you to survive on short run and which will proportionate safer and faster methods to escape from hostile forces. You are adopting a short run mindset focused on survival goal, instead of long term goals of building wealthy and developing a consistent patrimony.

However, even in critical times, to seek for land and property is a good plan, once you escape from the critical war scenario you are talking about. You have to seek for a protected, fertile and abundant land to settle down. A land full of clean water sources, where you can raise your crops and breed your animals. A place which will allow you to rebuild and begin from zero once again, far from the threats and sufferings from the place you escaped from.

And about the car, keep in mind that without fuel and maintenance it can't be used for anything at all... In a critical scenario like the one you mentioned, I think that is something you should consider in order to conclude if it's really a true wealth or not.
45  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Filipinos Playing crypto games for a living - Developer even says it is gambling on: July 09, 2024, 05:21:01 PM
So here is the video report on this phenomenon making the rounds once more in the land of the Philippines where playing a game can make you enough in riches so to make a living?
You can decide for yourself if this statement has any truth to it or if those companies are just taking advantage of the situation to the impoverished who do not have stable work.
I'm not from Philippines, but I can correlate my experience with P2E games in crypto universe, because I live in a country where the local currency is devalued, and every earnings coming from the internet are totally worth, especially during the boom of these online games.

I played Axie Infinity for a year or so. I made a humble investment by purchasing a cheap Axie's team, without any intentions to have a competitive team, rather I was only looking for a guaranteed daily extra income through the story mode levels, which rewarded me 100 SLPs every day back then, just by playing the game for few minutes. On the golden days of Axie Infinity each SLP worthed 13 or 14 cents, although it has already reached 30 to 36 cents of dollar for a while.

Multiply it for 100 and see how much profit I was making in a daily basis. I was definitely making above an extra monthly minimum wage just by playing the game. However, the point is that these games aren't sustainable. It worked solely for a brief period of time. I could never consider it a solid career or rely on this game for an income. It's too ephemeral and uncertain.

I don't regret anything and it was really good while it lasted, but through the experience I acquired back then, now I realize I should focus my time and effort on more solid and sustainable activites, such as studying and developing a professional career. Playing games for a living at the present time isn't a reality yet, at least not for most players who don't manage to earn through another means such as referrals and social media's content.
46  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is this Mt Goax news causing so much movement in bitcoin prices ? on: July 09, 2024, 01:54:18 AM
Investors are constantly trying to predict the next movements of crypto market, so if they see news stating large sums of money are going to be dropped for sale, they conclude prices are going to fall, as supply is likely to overcome demand on short run.

It leads the market to further crashes, as besides the sales which were already going to happen anyway, investors also add another batches of coins for sale fearing the news. In practice, it works like a cascade effect pushing the market into a bearish trend.

However, so far it hasn't being so bad at all... Bitcoin is still above 56,000$, having even reached 58,000$ recently. I'm not 100% assured about what is going to happen this week till the end of the month, but there is still hope Bitcoin already hit the bottom and will just go up from now on.
47  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Everybody cant have good life not enough resources on: July 08, 2024, 03:23:39 PM
The world is overpopulated. If life quality is the goal in a concept where everyone has more balanced chances of success when compared to each other, the global population should be decreasing, and not increasing like we are seeing. And it's the poors who have the most children. So how can they improve their life standards if they keep having more children without financial conditions to raise them?

Resources are scarce, and the ones at the top aren't going to share the resources they have with anyone through charity. And those who doesn't accept this fact and still adopt aggressive measures (revolutions) just pave the path for another greedy tyrants to replace the previous ones at the top positions, while the situation remains the same for everyone at the bottom of the pyramid.

Accumulate and manage the resources you can through the legit tools you have. Do your best with the time and energy you have under your disposal, but don't blame on yourself for the pain and suffering faced by others. After all, each man can only trail his own path and be accounted for his own actions.
48  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Changing Perception About Gambling on: July 08, 2024, 03:02:03 PM
How about you what made you change your perception of gambling from negative to positive?
Or what will make you change your perception?
I didn't like gambling because I saw my grandmother betting and thought she was wasting money she could be using for more productive purposes. I also thought she wasted time at casinos, while she could be spending time with other activities. However, she never was a problem gambler. She always bet responsively. At some point, when I knew she was alone at home, without anyone to talk to or hang out together, I understood gambling was an important hobby she had to find some pleasure and fun for her life.

Then I didn't bother anymore with the fact she was gambling, and started to see the bright side of it, which has as primary rule to be a responsible gambler who doesn't neglect his duties in order to place bets.

Moreover, I also found an opportunity to make income promoting online casinos on this forum. It lead me to realize it's a promising industry which moves large sums of money and employs many people around the world, and allows an important money redistribution when the wealthy players lose, so part of their wealth goes to feed this ecosystem.
49  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: biggest criticism of Bitcoin on: July 07, 2024, 11:08:46 PM
I would be interested to know what you think is the biggest criticism of Bitcoin or where you see the biggest weakness?
The possibility of being manipulated by big players: the institutional investors and governments. If governments and big corporations own large portions of Bitcoin, they can drive this market upside down, as they are already doing. Bitcoin should be better distributed among more different hands of independent individuals, instead of belonging in large portions to governments' wallets and corporations.

In my view, that is the biggest weakness of Bitcoin. That is how the centralized parties subvert Bitcoin's initial purpose, which was to give more freedom and independency to common individuals who have never seen their interests satisfied by the groups of power which rule life in society.
50  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we going to experience above $80k in this month of July. on: July 07, 2024, 10:12:04 PM
Two hours left for Monday. The tendency for the next week is being drawn at Bitcoin's charts. The bottom of 56,200$ was just reached, and then rebounced to 56,700$ in a very sudden movement right after. It still look bearish, though.

I don't think it's a good omen for the week, but I still have expectations Bitcoin can sustain its price above the 50,000$'s price range until investors feel confident to buy again. Let's hope what we see now is just a bear trap to catch the most impatient and anxious investors.
51  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: July 07, 2024, 09:57:13 PM
It is very difficult for Brazil in the short and medium term to return to being a power in football, the CBF is steeped in corruption and that is why great world-renowned coaches will never come to train the Brazilian team... the decadence has been going on for many years, since the 2006 world cup.
You mentioned an important point. The decadence in brazilian soccer comes since the 2006 World Cup. I remember very well when France defeated Brazil on that World Cup by 1x0 on quarter finals, and as consequence, even the legendary brazilian players who criticize the current national team today were severily criticized by the crowds on that year, including the local media which displayed each angle of the match to expose what each brazilian player was doing wrongly on decisive moments of the game against France.

None of the players were spared. Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaka, Roberto Carlos, Adriano... All these famous icons you know were "cancelled".

On that time, Brazil wasn't used to lose soccer matches yet, especially important ones, so there was a huge national commotion. Brazilians didn't accept reaching less than a final of a championship. At same time, I think it was a good shock of reality, to comprehend soccer isn't the most important thing for a country to achieve. A country shouldn't rely on it for building its reputation towards the world.
52  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Is there any easy way? Where to earn $3 dollars per day? or micro earnings? on: July 07, 2024, 06:19:46 PM
Anyway, here's the micro task I'm doing right now where I can earn $3 per day: at play.pixles.xyz, you can earn $3 by completing tasks ingame that gives in-game rewards and $Pixels tokens, which are tradable and can be sold on a crypto exchange or even P2P. DYOR.
Can you share more about your personal experience with this game? Can you really make 3$ a day by playing it for free? If so, how long does it take? Since April, is it still profitable?

There aren't sure ways to make income from the internet nowadays. Methods we used to execute in the past have become scarce or died along the years. Nowadays the most common method of making online income is through deluding other people on how to make online income. But if you want to start working online on somerhing right now, without any delays, bureaucracy or queues, you find nothing minimally worthy available.

I guess it's more rewarding to try finding opportunities of micro earnings in real life than on the internet. Ask people around you if you could do something for them in exchange of 3$ daily... It shouldn't be hard and there must be always someone willing to hire you to clean or deliver something.
53  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gloom Boom Doom thread on: July 07, 2024, 05:13:32 PM
Tomorrow the tendency will be clearer, as a new week begins. Personally, I don't think the situation is so alarming. I risk saying that if Bitcoin had to fall deeper, it would have already happened when it touched 53,000$'s two days ago. What happened next was a nice recovery to 58,000$. Today the market is more bearish, but Bitcoin is still maintaining at 57,000$.

The intensity of the bearish psychological effect from previous days tend only to dimish, so it's good news for Bitcoin market. The signal I see is that speculators don't want Bitcoin price to fall too much, because once Bitcoin hit 53,900$, they immediately pumped it to almost 55,000$ in a matter of 1 hour!

If Bitcoin remains stable around 58,000$ until the end of this month, I will consider it positive progress already. The focus are the incoming summer months, the final months of the year, which must be pretty bullish, allowing us to reach a new ATH!
54  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can free games be gambling? on: July 07, 2024, 04:55:16 PM
But I would be interested in how you answer the question of whether free games can be considered gambling. Another way to put this is: can gambling be free? Do free games excite you as much as games that involve betting money?
Are  you risking anything by playing such free games? Are there any consequences involved if you lose or win them? If there is none, then I would say it's not gambling. However, if you are playing free games against other people and despite not having money involved, you still agree a consequence for the loser, I consider it to be gambling.

For an example: you are playing cards with a friend and you decide that who loses the game will have to wash the winner's car. It's a friendly gambling, but it's still gambling anyway. There isn't money involved, but there is a kind of service rendering in counterpart which replaces the monetary factor.
55  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Copa America 2024 Prediction Thread on: July 07, 2024, 04:42:27 PM
To say the truth, both teams, Brazil and Uruguay aren't top tier ones. The match yesterday was terrible! I didn't see any skills, professionalism and performance, rather there was only aggressivity from both sides, but especially from Uruguay's players. The match didn't flowed in any moment, as each time a player touched the ball, a foul was commited by the rival team.

The referee should have given many more yellow cards. Maybe that would inhibit the violent behavior of the players in the field.

An Uruguayan player blatantly orientated the ball with his right hand, another almost broke the ankle of a Brazilian player and was expelled, and a third one bumped into Endrick for nothing while the game was stopped. A very shady squad which didn't deserve to win in my opinon. But even with the advantage for Brazil, with +1 player in field after the Uruguay lost Nandéz, they didn't manage to do any further progress.

In the end, the Brazilian player who missed the penalty did the hardest thing: to hit the goalpost. Tongue
56  Economy / Economics / Re: Oil discovery is it a cause or a blessing? on: July 07, 2024, 04:31:32 PM
for other people who hate oil, it is because they manage tourist attractions where air pollution really disturbs the peace of visitors. and tourists, therefore most of those who hate oil are the ones who suffer losses due to air pollution and climate change.
Oil has been necessary to keep our societies supplied with resources, thriving, producing and in constant development towards more advanced and sustainable technologies. Oil is part of the process and an essential tool in the present moment. However, it doesn't has to remain like this forever. A shift from fossil fuel to renewable ones would be very benefical to most people in the world.

This shift would mean a real blessing, because we would have access to energy for a cheaper price, causing less damage to the environment, while using a continuous and sustainable source of energy. There would be no more reasons for wars and conflicts due to oil reserves' control. You would produce your own energy to use in your house and to fuel your vehicle. No more expensive electricity bills every month.

Maybe in some decades from now it will be already a reality.
57  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is performing just fine currently on: July 07, 2024, 12:46:13 AM
I got to know about Bitcoin since 2015, and started investing the same year. From then till now is a huge difference. But the thing is, every year there are people who are buying at the new price, or maybe old investors who have withdrawn profit and are starting all over again, they will always have a high expectation of price for Bitcoin, because they all want to make profit from their current investment, that's why you will always see people complain about the price.
Yes. The price from one year ago doesn't matter for someone who started buying few months ago. If he bought BTC for 60,000$, he will want to see it at 70,000$ or 80,000$, so he can call it a profit. Also, even for early investors it's annoying to see Bitcoin returning to previous price marks, because time is money, and the longer they hold, it means less time they are going to have to do what they would like with the money. If you hold for few years, you surely will want to see according profit after that time period, otherwise the investment won't be considered profitable or worthful.
58  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Voting is harmful. Don't do it on: July 06, 2024, 11:59:56 PM
Will refusing to vote during elections make things better?Refusing to vote will only make the system even worse, it will help promote an illegitimate system where those who are there to rule the people will be accountable to no one because they were placed there by no one. This is the only chance the people have to correct their wrongs, so it's better they exercise their civic duty of voting during elections.
And does voting make things better? There isn't a worst or less worse alternative. All of them are the same bullshit... People keep voting every 2 years of their lives and only see things getting worse and worse. So why should anyone continue doing this? It's actually insanity...

Between the legitimacy given to corrupt leaders by the majority of a dumb or equally corrupt population is the same as an illegitimate government placed there by no one.

I have always said it, the reason these political leaders maltreat their subjects and forget in a hurry all their campaign promises is because the masses gave them the room to act the way they do. What do you expect from a political leader who bribed his way into office and who did he bribe? Still the same masses who complain every day about bad leadership. Until the masses learn to do the right thing, the same people whom they voted into office won't stop neglecting them.
And the masses will continue acting exactly like that. It has been like this since the beginning of this world. Remember that between Jesus and Barabbas, the crowds chose the outlaw prisioner and delivered Jesus to the death.

That is why each person has to take care their own lives and forget about fixing the problems of the world, which are out of our personal control.
59  Economy / Economics / Re: Oil discovery is it a cause or a blessing? on: July 06, 2024, 11:46:42 PM
Conflicts emerge in this case because human beings are envious and greedy. They can't see another human being being lucky or competent that they immediately want the fruits for themselves as well. But since they can't display the same competency, or can't be lucky to make such findings, they appeal to physical threats and violence. It has always been like this with the most primitive and bad character human beings.

A good example of that are the bullies at the school which abuse and beat the other children, usually the called "nerds", because they lack devotion and intelligence to reach the quality of results nerds deliver.

That is why even peaceful and friendly countries have to invest in self military defense. Not to attack another countries, but to defend themselves from external hostile threats, to defend their people, their country and their patrimony from usurpers.
60  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have some people used casinos to hide the origin of funds? on: July 06, 2024, 11:36:08 PM
It's called money laundering and it has been being done through different methods, gambling included. Even with KYC feature, there are still many people who attempt laundering money through casinos platforms. This feature doesn't prevent anything at all, because it can be bypassed when the money launderer uses multiple accounts or multiple strawmen with their personal accounts to execute the scheme.

This way, big sums of money are never dealed by one single person. Rather, they dilute it into many small parts, which is taken by each strawman, so the casino's radar is less likely to force one of those people to go into KYC procedure. Some may ask what these people earn by allowing to be used by a money launderer, and the answer is usually a small comission over all the transactions they do.
