41  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is general user experience degraded when simultaneously GPU Mining on Win7? on: April 26, 2011, 10:17:26 AM
I have "-f 60" in my flags and I notice no degrade in performance. I can even play games with a decent framerate while mining (>90fps on Counter-strike Source), of course my hashrate drops during gameplay though.
Pretty much this. I have a HD5770 and am still able to play Left 4 Dead 2 at max settings, 1920x1080 at least 60fps. Not sure what my hash rates are, but it doesn't stop me from playing.
Also means I don't have to remember to start/stop the miner when I want to game.

GPU mining while browsing internet or something is barely noticeable. Suggest that you do turn off hardware acclereation for Flash/videos as that will decrease the hash rate. And any recent CPU should be able to play flash fine without hardware accleration anyways.

I already gathered from the BC Wiki that it's not possible to share the GPU between a game and a miner at the same time.
What do you mean by this? The performance will be lowered, and but it is possible to game/mine at the same time.
42  Economy / Marketplace / Re: 2 Steam games for sale on: April 17, 2011, 04:23:51 AM
echonaut: You should make a new account for your purchases so your account does not get banned!

That's my plan if I continue this further than simply 3 gifts, and it's part of the reason I'm limiting it to 3 games at this point. I'll definitely be open to doing more gifts in the future if interest exists. Smiley
Why would your account be banned? Doesn't Steam like money?

Guessing something with selling gifts. Might be against the rules, I don't know.
How much is Portal 2 pre order? It's stand alone?

May I sell or trade gift subscriptions?

Steam Gift Purchases can not be sold or traded. Attempting to sell or trade a gift subscription is a violation of the Steam Subscriber Agreement and may result in your account being permanently disabled.
Also accounts can be banned if they received a gift that was payed for with a reversible payment method and has been reversed.

Correction , you were only able to get humble indie bundle #1 when you paid more then 7,5$ so nothing is true about your penny story.
Nope, if you got hib #2 before they started packaging hib #1, you'd got the first one when they started it.

I got both for a penny each so you are full of it.
A penny is kinda less, shouldn't you have donated more? =P

45  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Crowdfunding 1200 BTC (200 BTC pledged) for Automata RTS Game on: April 09, 2011, 05:59:53 AM
I realized that I need alpha tester to provide me quality data about the game. I also saw an opportunity to reorder the reward level to make it fit and how much.
I'll raise mine to 10 BTC then. Now stop using the foot in door trick.
46  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Crowdsourcing 1200 BTC (85 BTC pledged) for Automata RTS Game on: April 06, 2011, 05:52:50 PM
I'll go for 5 BTC for now. If you release anything nice (screenshots) I'll probably go for more.

I really like ITX and low-power stuff, since I like the idea of building dedicated machines for different purposes. (Still need to get around to that car PC.) Having "guides" for things like building a DVR or a home security system would be cool.
I'd be interested in this too. My computers powerful enough for now, but we our satellite contract is over and current old computer I'm using is a bit loud.

Anybody in Southern California right now, probably knows what this is about.

That's the sun up there talking, JIC you were wondering,  he's being a real jerk today.
LA county here.
I spent the afternoon playing L42 with my shirt off.

Do you give out a Steam product code so one can activate it right through steam and download? Id be interested in that.

What do you mean by "give out" ? What game do you want ?
Actually, how much for Crysis 2 ?
Can you answer my question about how much BTC for Crysis 2?

Does this include Vietnam or probably not?

Feel free to make question.

53  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 130mhash on 5870? on: February 25, 2011, 09:41:20 AM
Thanks for the excellent post.  Turned out to be flash (youtube) which halved the amount I was getting.

After disabling the flash related tabs, I'm back in business in FF.
You can also disable hardware acceleration in flash to be able to watch videos at the same time.
Right click on a flash dialog and its under settings. (I noticed youtube doesn't allow the settings button, so you'll have to do it on another flash)
54  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 130mhash on 5870? on: February 25, 2011, 09:26:10 AM
Just solved it after reading the problem with sdk 2.2 2.3 etc.

I removed 2.3 and installed 2.2.  That did the trick.  I'm now in the 320 mhash

w00t Wink

edit: turns out I'm wrong.  It dropped back down to 150 mhash but I notice that it was after I opened up FF.  After I closed FF, I got back to 320.  I'm not sure what the deal is but I guess I'll have to close FF down and use chrome instead.  Baffling though.
Firefox has hardware acceleration I think, which uses your graphics card.
Flashh videos also do that too sometimes

Quick google tells how to disable: http://www.askvg.com/how-to-enable-direct2d-directwrite-hardware-acceleration-in-mozilla-firefox/
