41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can someone explain to me what EOS is? on: January 23, 2018, 06:43:59 PM
Can someone explain in a simple way, what the EOS token is and what's used for?

Some friends have been talking about, but seems like no one can explain what the project is.

From my understanding EOS is a direct contender for Ethereum. Both allow creation of tokens. What makes EOS ahead of Ether is it can solve a lot fo scaling issues of Ethereum. Which means no more miners or TX fees. And also creation of Dapps is easier on EOS though I can't justify it as I am not a coding buff. But Ethereum has a first mover advantage here with higher maturity and not be forget the 2nd place on CMC plus a working product.

EOS is currently dangling on a testnet which means there are no real world examples of its use cases. But if they live upto their roadmap/ whitepaper and move to the maintnet in 2018 then people MIGHT start migrating towards EOS which should also boost its price and be a great investment. But saying and doing are two different things.

43  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [H] Crypto [W] Paypal purchase 18GBP on: January 23, 2018, 06:00:37 PM
If its still open hit me up. Let me know what Crypto you have in store. But you will have to go first at any cost. Not falling for any noobie scams however legit they look. And let me know what site you want the purchase to be made from. Since Paypal is a miss and go in some sites and there is no 100% guarantee that the transaction will go through.
44  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-1-23] Bad News From India Makes Bitcoin Price Fall on: January 23, 2018, 04:16:57 PM
Without providing valid proof this is pure Bullshit! Though there has been news similar to this spreading, it has nothing to do with the legality of the Crypto but more with the co-lateral that the exchanges have borrowed from the bank. The banks are demanding the exchanges for collateral on their borrowings while keeping accounts hostage. I believe the banks are scared of the next steps the government is going to take with Bitcoin trading. All the government wants is taxes to be paid.

The news led to turmoil in the domestic market as well as bringing the price of bitcoin down.

The Bitcoin price is on par with the international exchange rates plus the premium added. There is no such tumoil anywhere.
45  Economy / Speculation / Re: How credible is Wall Street CIO's Prediction of BTC dropping $1000 ? on: January 23, 2018, 04:00:54 PM
Hi Folks, I've read this piece on cointelegraph. What are your views.

“Over the next year I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s BTC down to $1,000 to $3,000.”

Love these headlines! Pretty sure Wall-street pricks want to get a chunk of the BTC by spreading FUD. Markets will go upward, downwards or sideways depending on the news and some breakthroughs. Only the fickle minded will fall for these news and thus making the whales richer day by day.

Did anyone predict Bitcoin to rise upto 18K in 2017?
46  Economy / Exchanges / HitBTC is a Joke! Next level of scamming! on: January 23, 2018, 02:54:39 PM
Recently I got 100 tokens (UTT) from the Signature campaign and was excited to get it unloaded as I needed some ETH. Since the token is only listed in HitBTC I went to deposit the coins there. And Bahm! A deposit fee of 40 UTT. Are you F***ing kidding me. The token is worth $1 and was $2 few days ago. Why should anyone pay for deposit by the way? And $40? Are some bunch of imbecile kids running this exchange?

Anyone knows any workaround for this?
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [BOUNTY] ⚡ United Traders ⚡ Payments will be in BTC and UTT tokens ⚡ on: January 22, 2018, 06:31:45 PM
Thanks UTT team for not disappointing anyone. Hope the project hits great success.

To the people looking to trade the coin, have you been able to deposit into HitBTC? Its showing a deposit fee of 40 UTT, Is this a joke? Insanely ridiculous.  I guess there is no other exchange supporting UTT for now.
48  Economy / Economics / Re: China and Bitcoin Mining on: January 22, 2018, 06:11:49 PM
Buy BTC because you trust/believe in it, not because you want to make a quick buck.
The governments are basically bought out by banking cartels, and they will never allow Crypto unless it is their own and which they can control. It is about control, power is secondary and it comes as a benefit. Invest wisely and what you can afford to loose.
Probably buying at any point just because of own belief and trust in btc ain't enough to maximize profit. One of the good ways to do it is to buy after dump occurs in order to have cheaper Bitcoins. As far as I know, governments on some countries allow crypto as is like Japan so why have the thought of banking cartels controlling them? Those countries who banned it just want total control over their citizen's assets.

You are talking about some countries. There will be exceptions. But if you are upto date with the news you will read at least one news about Banks and Bitcoin controversy. Banks not only wants to keep our money but also tell us where to spend it and where not.

Here I will post some for you to look at

https://dowbit.com/indian-banks-freeze-major-cryptocurrency-exchange-accounts/

I can go on and on with the links but I guess you get the point.
49  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Growth and potential of Bitcoin in the future. on: January 22, 2018, 06:04:19 PM
If you believe in the potential of Bitcoin and appreciate the advice of experts, you should not be too worried when the price of Bitcoin down but the fun again right. At reduced prices you can use cash to buy more at cheaper rates.

'Experts' Lol! Can you name these clowns? All I see is bunch of retards speculating shit. Articles telling the price will be 100k in 2018, And yesterday it went to 40k, next will be 5k. Maybe all these experts that are saying $40k-$100k all bought in at $19k and are hoping they can get enough people in to pump the price so that they can get out.

I do agree that if you enough cash that you are ready to loose then go for the coins you think will be the ones mooning in 2018. It need not be only Bitcoin. Do your own research and put your money where you believe it will be the best.
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: is NEO GAS a good buy right now? on: January 22, 2018, 05:41:15 PM
I would suggest you to buy 30% NEO and 70% gas. NEO will be a top coin/ platform for 2018 from Chinese markets and a good contender for Ethereum. So you can see a lot of growth from it too and Gas being the token used in conjunction with NEO will make it rise parallely. Generally by trend GAS is 50% of NEO's price. Many exchanges do not provide the GAS that is generated by holding NEO. So it would be good if you store in the NEON wallet. Which supports NEO, GAS and all the upcoming ICO's from the platform.
51  Economy / Economics / Re: China and Bitcoin Mining on: January 22, 2018, 09:34:32 AM
Hello All,

Quite new to the crypto game and just wanted your thoughts on this, I'm considering buying bitcoin when the price hits its low aftet the recent news from China.

My question is how low do people think it will drop too? How confident are people that it will recover?

Looking at what happened in Sep-17 it went low but then rapidly increased do you think this will happen again.

https://qz.com/1174091/china-wants-an-orderly-exit-from-bitcoin-mining/

If everyone knew when the price would dip and how low, everyone would have bought Lambos long back. People will just speculate so and so might happen. Take it as a grain of salt. Markets go the way they want based on a lot of external factors.

Don't go by bans. It will NEVER be over.
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mining shitcoins/decent ALTs with MacBook Pro? on: January 21, 2018, 07:36:17 PM
Wouldn't recommend mining on a MacBook as there is not enough heat sink to let the heat. This will not only cause a lot of problems for other components but also reduce its selling price. Check the hash rate you are getting so you can get an estimate the amount of coins you are making and minus the electricity cost ( not in your case) to check profit. You can look into monero. Since you mentioned the MacBook used I would suggest selling the MacBook and holding some coins for a better profit.

Nowadays it's almost all ASICs, non-specialised hardware like CPU and GPU mining, as well as using your laptop, has been basically rendered obsolete because of how high the mining difficulty is.

Electroneum maybe good enough, with that spec you can get around 4 to 8 ETN in 24hours non stop mining. But not really worth i guess, check whattomine.com and try to calculate which coin can give you more profit.

Unless you want to get negative balance for the electricity bill.
53  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Poloniex: the whorst support service! on: January 21, 2018, 07:24:21 PM
You need to calm down OP. The influx of high amount of users has caused a lot of issues among exchanges. Hence they have suspended registrations until notice. I have been in a similar situation like you with Bitfinex where I lost 0.02 BTC due to a bug in their system. My support ticket was answered 25 days later. I know its a lot of frustration but patience is the key here. And please don't open more than one ticket as it will really clogs up the system and causes more delays.

I submitted KYC to poloniex to increase withdraw limit. After 2 months and opened 2 support tickets, I am still waiting for them to reply and verify my info. This is a joke. I started to think they deliberately slow down their KYC process to keep people from withdrawing!! Still waiting!

2 months is a lot of time. There could be a reason that more support is shifted towards fixing bugs or any other issues which need priority. Though I am not a Poloneix, it is regarded as a trustworthy exchange.
54  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Shall we still keep optimism for Bitcoin? on: January 21, 2018, 07:15:04 PM
I have strong optimism for bitcoin hit unprecedented value before ending of 2018

Do you believe in the Blockchain technology and its real world use cases? If yes, you can be optimistic about Bitcoin. Since more and more people tend to look it as a store of value which I don't deny, We can't predict how the markets reacts to this.

But if you are really concerned about the tech then Bitcoin is still under development stage ad there are a lot of scaling issues that needs to be addressed. These will surely be fixed at some point of time (*cough lighting network*). In the end its the tech thats Good enough and has the biggest Adoption that will make the impact. And Bitcoin surely will!
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [BOUNTY] ⚡ United Traders ⚡ Payments will be in BTC and UTT tokens ⚡ on: January 21, 2018, 07:02:12 PM
Hey Hotachy,

You have been a great campaign manager with prompt payments and there is no denying it but you need to confirm if the tokens are actually going to be sent to the ones participated in the campaign. When its promised, it needs to be delivered or at least provide an ETA from your source. I don't want to sound harsh or anything but this thread is getting bumped every time and people asking the same questions about the tokens. You have been online and could at least clarify regarding the same. Hope to hear some positive news from your side.
56  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [H] $500 Paypal [W] BTC, ETH, LTC, NEO or Other Alts on: January 21, 2018, 06:09:06 PM
Seems like Paypal is acting bonkers and won't let me send any funds. I am locking this thread until the problem is resolved!
57  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Are Exchanges becoming too unstable ? on: January 20, 2018, 11:48:03 AM
The exchanges you mentioned are not highly recommend. Stability is one of the few issues. Even for the top exchanges, due to the influx of high amount of users a lot of other issues are faced. No wonder the registrations are kept on hold or disabled in many, which I feel is the right step taken. My Bitfinex support replied like after 25 days which is a long time due. The support is like the back bone of the exchange and everyone lacks to provide it.

When you are keeping thousands of dollars in the exchanges, its always a nightmare if your funds will be available the next day to not. And always, never use your exchange as a wallet if you are holding the coins.
58  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I’ve lost my Google Authenticator on: January 20, 2018, 11:38:31 AM
Quote
I do not like 2FA with google auth. especially for such problems. Because of that, I am using SMS 2FA, I have feeling that in this way I have more control over verification.

Not every exchange provides the courtesy to use SMS 2FA. Also if you lose your phone then it will take some time to get a new sim and resolving the issue.

To anyone using 2FA, which you should, download Authy app from the app store or playstore or even for the PC. Disable and re enable your 2FA and scan using Authy app. Now you can sync your 2FA across devices, or PC app (https://authy.com). This will help you and give a sigh of relief if your device is lost. Also if you are on the PC you need not have your phone close by.
59  Economy / Economics / Re: Merrill Lynch banned its clients from investing in bitcoin on: January 20, 2018, 07:03:20 AM
There was news a few months ago on how Merrill Lynch Supports Blockchain Innovation For Trade Finance.

Found it!
https://www.ethnews.com/bank-of-america-merrill-lynch-supports-blockchain-innovation-for-trade-finance

How can they tell what you want to invest in? Its our money and we have the right to decide what to invest in and what not. Investments banks like Goldman & Morgan Stanley will take no issue with facilitating bitcoin futures trades, But more retail-facing banks like JP Demon and Bank of America will fear seeing their retail deposits with no interest flee into the crypto promised land.
60  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Is Bitcoin Legal in India? on: January 20, 2018, 04:58:05 AM
In the view of Indian Governtment Bitcoin is Legal. Means if we trade Bitcoin from India is there any legal issues?

Right suggestion only.

As of now the government hasn't made is illegal. I guess the corrupt politicians themselves are using it to store as an asset for their black money hoarding. Recently the government has warned the people not to take part in Bitcoin or any Crypto related activities. Also there has been news about tax officials raiding certain exchanges.

All the government requires is you too pay taxes. If you are cashing out a large sums from Crypto and get a your taxes paid, there should be no issues whatsoever.

If the Indian government can demonetize currency notes out of the blue, I wouldn't be surprised if they put a ban on Bitcoin exchanges tomorrow. People will have to deal with it and there is no going anywhere.
