Thank you for the comment, which is highly valuable.

We have fixed the link, which should be working now.

Regarding security, it is true that there is a password protection when accessing an Outlook user's Finmail account. In the user guide at https://www.finmail.com/user-guide there is a statement that:

"To prevent someone from pretending to be you to reset your password when you are away from using email client, use a mailbox that cannot be viewed through your current email client, i.e. Hotmail/Outlook, as backup mailbox."

The overall system design is similar to a combination of online banking and digital currency: Finmail brings hypertext communication capability to both systems. In addition, Finmail brings borderless value transmission capability to online banking system, while it enables digital currency user to use email address as sender/receiver's payment address as well as their identifier. Therefore, we hope the new system will make collaborations based on Internet easier and, improve productivity.

The current add-in is still at early stage and, we are trying to make it more convenient. If you are interested in, you are welcome to give user experience feedback, improvement proposals or even code review, through our open tasks 1 and 2, i.e. https://www.finmail.com/post/task-1-finmail-add-in-survey. You may also get reward, although may not be as much as Bitcoin trading Wink

Congratulation! The SecureCoin block mining reward has been halved successfully!

The SecureCoin block mining reward has been halved to 2.5 from now on, which is formally the first time since its launch in 2013. More details can be found at https://securechain.info/en/chain/SecureCoin

The Finmail Add-in for Outlook and Hotmail has been approved by Microsoft and, is available through Office Store

We have a great news that, the Finmail add-in for Outlook and Hotmail has been approved by Microsoft recently. Anyone can install it through Office Store.

The approve procedure takes more than 2 months in total, with several changes and improvements regarding user privacy, server stability, asset security and ease of use, etc. For example, as to financial security, all Finmail add-in users are required to create a Finmail account, sign in before using and sign out after using.

To make the add-in more applicable and convenient, we kindly request you to try the Finmail add-in and give some feedback. Our current priority is still to introduce a stability coin like USDT to the add-in, while taking account into other features like improving text templates inserted to the email content.

For more details about installation please refer to https://www.finmail.com/technical-support

Thank you for your support.
53  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Finmail - Send Email together with Bitcoin on: July 13, 2019, 07:28:38 AM
Monthly Update:
1. Improved UI interface and introduction
2. Improved user account management. For example a user can hide all his/her account information by signing out. To sign in, a user needs to enter his/her Finmail password. In addition, a user can change either password, backup mailbox or both at the same time.
3. Support 2 types of internal transfer: transfer by BTC address and transfer by email address. If the receiving BTC or email address belongs to another Finmail user, the transfer between them will be internal and, completed immediately without fee. If the receiving BTC address does not belong to a Finmail user, traditional Bitcoin transfer will be taken with normal transaction fee.
4. Support selecting and calculating external transaction fee by speed, totally 4 levels at the moment.
5. Improved system architecture to provide high availability, strong security and low latency.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SRC] Securecoin | A Fast and Secure Version of Bitcoin | 2013 on: July 05, 2019, 07:12:25 PM
SecureCoin will soon be halved

So far there have been more than 2080000 blocks mined. According to the specification, the reward will be halved every 2100000 blocks. Therefore we will soon greet the first halve of SecureCoin since the launch in 2013.

Thank you for your support and help. Let's wait for the moment to come together.

Regards,
Securechain Team

Thank you for the messages. It is a very good idea to develop a Chrome extension to support Gmail/Yahoo. Presently we are still focusing on the add-in for Hotmail/Outlook. Once the product is basically shaped, we will consider extending to support other platforms.

Technically, to Gmail, it has a built-in add-in system, so it is probably easier to extend the support for it. However to Yahoo, it seems the webmail does not support third-party add-in. Therefore it may be required to develop the add-in at browser level, i.e. Chrome extensions, in order to bypass the limitation of Yahoo mail.

Also sorry for the massive paragraph, which might be kind of technical specification/white paper instead of product introduction. We'll try to improve the content in our website to make it more intuitive and elegant.

On the other hand, we are also planning to introduce other coins, i.e. USDT, to the add-in. Bitcoin is always the first one needs to support. However, just like the most expensive wine is not for drinking and, the most expensive watch is not for timing, the most expensive coin, i.e. Bitcoin, may not be the best one for remittance/payment. Therefore in addition to Bitcoin, it seems we also need to have a stable coin in the system to make it more practical.

The support for Lightning Network is very interesting and, we’ll consider it when the basic modeling of the product is done.

Anyway, thank you again for your kind idea and comments. Hope we can make it a great product together.

Thank you for the comments, which are very helpful.
We are always trying to improve the product and, hope more people can find it useful and convenient. For any idea or improvements to the add-in, please feel free to contact us.

Monthly Update:

1. Improved UI interface, which is more intuitive and easy to use.
2. Improved security mechanism, which leverages the use of password, backup mailbox and payout limit to secure the transaction. The approach of funding storage is also improved.
3. Support choosing transfer speed. The transaction fee is calculated according and automatically.
4. Support displaying realtime BTC price with certain interval, typically 1 min.
5. Support running the add-in also when reading an email.
6. Support running on all versions of Outlook and Hotmail clients, including Outlook for Windows, Outlook for MacOS, Outlook/Hotmail on web, Outlook app on iOS/Andriod, etc.

Welcome to visit https://www.finmail.com for more details. Any comment is highly appreciated.
58  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Finmail - Send Email together with Bitcoin on: May 14, 2019, 02:49:34 PM
Thank you for the comments, which are quite valuable.

To solve the partial refund issue, it is true that due to the relatively low transaction speed and high fee of Bitcoin, more currencies need to be introduced, for example LTC and USDT, etc. In this way, we are using the "remittance" or "clearing" approach, which is also how email is working.

Alternatively, some semi-centralized or centralized mechanisms can also be introduced, for example lighting network and third-party service. In this way, the value transfer is kind of "payment", which is usually faster and fault-tolerant. However, the network covered by payment service is usually smaller than email. Therefore these approaches will be good supplement to the add-in, but the foundation will still be digital currency.

The current support for Microsoft email is due to the fact that Outlook/Hotmail has wider acceptance globally than Gmail, although Gmail has more users than Outlook. In addition, the development environment for Outlook is very mature, which makes is easy for us to turn the idea into production. After the add-in for Outlook/Hotmail, we will naturally continue the development for other brands including Gmail, if the market turns out to be valuable.

It might be true that it will be a humongous task to make people trust the add-in and their online money (personally I do not like this word). However just like online payment 20 years ago and, cloud service 10 years ago, the change of publicity in internet age is always faster than old days. In addition, regardless the publicity, if the project is really a cornerstone, it will be able to show the beneficial value to the society, which we believe so.

Thank you for the comments. We are very happy that you think this is a good idea.

The post has been updated to show the short url and abstract. As the article is kind of "knowledge marketing", probably it is better to leave it here, so that those who want to know the background can get the whole knowledge from the post without opening a new page.

The website seems to work fine on Chrome on Windows and iPhone. All images can be downloaded and displayed properly from our side. Therefore could you please give some more details about the site issue, i.e. which page has the problem and what images/texts cannot be displayed properly? Once verified, we'll try to fix them as soon as possible.

The security risk is always there. It is very important, but should not be a big issue. For example, to today's cloud technology, security is also the first priority. To any company or individual, if they move their internal documents to the cloud, they also run the risk of information leakage due to potential server or cloud provider issue. However, on one hand, the architecture of cloud is so advanced and flexible, which makes people "have to" move their valuable documents to it to reduce cost. On the other hand, cloud service providers also have mature security measures today, otherwise no one will use cloud.

To this point, cloud service provider is similar to digital currency exchange, while the former one is to host all types of information with different value and, the latter one is mainly to host private keys with high value. If cloud is secure enough, why can't exchange, or FINMAIL be secure enough? In addition, even though there are some big exchanges got hacked, there are still some survivors today, which shows the possibility of being highly secure.

The technology which enables email with the Bitcoin to arrive safely is a big topic. Probably we can discuss later when the patent is published.

BTW, as the project is based on email, we can also imagine the message like "You've got mail with Bitcoin".

Hi,
Since the beginning of this year, we have been working on a new project - FINMAIL, which aims at integrating email and cryptocurrency services. The idea comes from the commonalities of the two: both email and cryptocurrency, i.e. bitcoin, can transfer something throughout the whole network with short delay. Meanwhile, also the differences: email is for information and cryptocurrency is for value. This month the project is released at https://www.finmail.com. If you are interested, regardless whether you are tester, hacker, trader, or just curious geek, welcome to visit and try.
On the other hand, we are managing to update the homepage of Securechain / SecureCoin to make it more structured. Presently we have three projects: Securechain Wallet, SecureCoin block explorer and Finmail Add-in. Anyone who is interested in or, prefer some voluntary work are welcome to join.
For any question please feel free to contact us. Any idea or comments are highly appreciated.
    Thank you for your support!

Best Regards,
Securechain Team
