41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Good Alts? on: July 30, 2015, 05:02:00 PM
NXT (Has the most potential)
Monero (XMR) (for anonymous needs...like deepweds)

Anything else will die out, and is obsolete. I see people saying BTS, please learn economics, that is a scam and highly inflationary.
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero - why the sudden hype? on: July 30, 2015, 03:53:31 PM
Monero knows DASH is going to go up in price.

They are trying to create duality in anonymity so that they can ride the price wave up.

It's called riding the coat tails.

They did it back in Feb/Mar of this year and they are trying to do it again.

It is the only way it can survive because they tried to force a price on the free market when the coin was introduced.

Dash is traceable by the government. It's not anonymous.

Why would anyone use that as a currency? Huh Especially on the deepwebs.

That's why everyone loves Monero, it's the most anonymous full proof altcoin on the market.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero > Quark ?? on: July 30, 2015, 03:35:03 PM
Maybe put them into Dash, i heard Evan never lied to you about launch times and stuff.

Dash relies on masternodes which the government can track if they bought enough dashcoin.

Dash is not fully anonymous, as opposed to Monero which is 100% anonymous from all angles.
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ETH] Ethereum Observation Thread on: July 30, 2015, 02:29:31 PM
Will there be some normal exchange of ETH on launch? Normal means no need to send scans of my ID.
I heard rumors about polo, but is it confirmed?

The mod in the trollbox said pol will have it after "thawing faze".
Bittrex is confirmed to have it after launch as well as other.
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / NXT (AT) vs Ethereum (Where is the Future)? on: July 30, 2015, 08:06:22 AM
Let's have a real sophisticated conversation here guys.

Is NXT (AT) a threat to Ethereum? or Vice Versa?

Explain your reasons.

I personally will not give my own opinion at this time, and remain neutral.

46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethercoin | Redeemable 1:1 for ethers | Official Thread on: July 30, 2015, 06:26:33 AM
So I'm guessing Ethercoin.cc sold out of coin to sale?  Huh

Also when ethereum goes live will ether be available on the exchanges?
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero - why the sudden hype? on: July 30, 2015, 06:20:27 AM
Monero is the most anonymous currency... PERIOD.

No currency is more anonymous than Monero.... Not even Dash because the government can buy a bunch of Dashcoin and trace the master nodes. This cannot be done with Monero.

48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How is NXT decentralized? on: July 30, 2015, 05:08:58 AM
Excuse my ignorance, but I can't seem to find an answer from the internet.

If NXT is a decentralized currency, why do I need to download their client to store my coin? That doesn't feel safe to me.

For example with Bitcoin,Monero,Litecoin, etc I can generate a random wallet and put it in cold-storage, but from what I understand NXT wallets are only stored online?

Am I missing something here?
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ETH] Ethereum Observation Thread on: July 27, 2015, 06:50:17 PM
So if Etherium becomes successful what does that mean for the internet, bitcoins, and altcoins?

And if I'm understanding this correctly, Ether will be the underlying currency of this technology?

50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins are becoming a joke...... Anyone Agree? on: July 27, 2015, 04:03:00 PM
the only reason for this thread is you feeling threatened

By who?
51  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mass adoption? Seriously what would price be? on: July 27, 2015, 03:10:11 AM
If your scenario were to happen then the "price" of bitcoin would not matter, because Bitcoin would be the preferred currency to spend money. Until people stop looking at BTC like some kind of stock, and instead look at it as a better means of transaction the adoption of Bitcoin will be hear sooner than later.

The mentality of "how much U.S. Dollars cant I get for bitcoin in a few years" needs to stop.... Now.

52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Altcoins are becoming a joke...... Anyone Agree? on: July 27, 2015, 03:02:33 AM
Everyday there is a new SHITcoin being released. It's becoming a joke now.  Enough is Enough!

Nobody accepts these Altcoins as currency, or payment, and nobody outside of this forum (and the cryptocurrency community) knows what the hell a Litecoin, Dogecoin, NXT, or Monero is.....

People in the real world BARELY know what Bitcoin is.... It's gonna be another 5+ years before Bitcoin starts to meet it's true potential.

The creation of new Altcoins needs to stop, let's face it... Bitcoin has BILLIONS invested into it, and isn't going anywhere.  Until Bitcoin fully penetrates the mainstream, no Altcoin will be a successful predecessor.

Also 1 more thing.... Cryptocurrencies are not stocks.  Undecided

Let's discuss.

(Monero & Litecoin are the only candidates to be the BTC alternative)
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Could Monero replace Bitcoin soon? on: July 27, 2015, 02:50:28 AM
Nobody knows what any of these altcoins are but people on this forum.... Think about it.

People in the real world BARELY know what bitcoin is....... And most people who have heard of bitcoin disregard it as something unimportant.

There needs to be Dev & investment in a altcoin for it to succeed.

I don't think that will happen until Bitcoin has reached the mainstream fully.

I like Monero.  Wink
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: moneroaddress.org is it safe? on: July 26, 2015, 05:03:55 PM
If you ask it it will end up as the last reply, I'm sure you will get a good answer there.

I haven't used moneroaddress yet but AFAIK it is as safe as bitaddress, but you should ask it in the main thread for confirmation.

So where did you obtain your Monero wallet(s)?
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: moneroaddress.org is it safe? on: July 26, 2015, 04:48:15 PM
this is the thread for this kind of questions:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=583449.26120

no need to open a new thread for this, thank you Kiss

That thread has 1307 pages, nobody will notice my question.

You could have answered my question medusa13 instead of telling me about another thread.  Angry Sad Shocked
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / moneroaddress.org is it safe? on: July 26, 2015, 04:35:37 PM
These new altcoins are a convoluted mess for the average non-technical cryptocurrensy enthusiast such as my self. It so many coins, and so much technicalities it's confuses me.

The reason I made this thread is because I'd like to get started in Monero because I like the idea of a fully anonymous currency. My question is, is MoneroAddress.org a safe & proper place to get a wallet for cold storage? I recently watched a video with the main developer on Monero (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEVm1dMn5Ks) , and there was a part where he implied the only way to get a wallet was through the Monero program or Mymonero?

I  know I sound like a total newbie, but you people have to understand that not everyone is a computer geek, some of us are regular people who support cryptocurrensy.  Undecided
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin WILL die. What is the best alternative? on: July 20, 2015, 02:54:22 PM
I'm not promoting any particular coin. I'm asking what alt-coin out there isn't vulnerable to the inevitable 51% attack.
I'm a full supporter of bitcoin, but I will not ignore the fact there is a hole in the Bitcoin system which makes it imperfect.

The attack WILL happen.
First of all, EVERY COIN is vulnerable to a 51% attack, just like your password and cryptogrpahy are vulnerable to a brute force attack. There is nothing that can prevent one. However, the costs of performing a 51% attack are extremely high and it is difficult to pull off. The community will react and come up with a solution, which might just be get more people to mine thus reducing the attackers percent of the hash rate. Also, a 51% attack is not the end of Bitcoin. All the attacker can do is double spend his own coins, attempt to prevent people from spending, and attempt to prevent miners from mining.

Even with 51% of the network, that doesn't mean the attacker suddenly has absolute power and full control. That just means that he has a higher probablility of finidng more blocks and could potentially create a longer valid fork of the block chain. The other 49% of the miners would still be finding about half of the blocks. In order to actually gain control of mining and adversely affect Bitcoin, the attacker would probably need somewhere upwards of 80 - 90% of the hash rate, which is much more expensive than just 51%.

Whatever amount that is, it's peanuts.

If all the major banks came together (Citigroup, JP Morgan Chase & Co, BoA, HSBC, Wells Fargo), they could have the attack done in a matter of 2 weeks. They could put together enough money to take full control over the blockchain with ease. I wouldn't be surprised if they already have the facilities built and just waiting for the perfect moment to shut Bitcoin down.

The U.S. government..... I don't even have to explain.
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin WILL die. What is the best alternative? on: July 20, 2015, 02:44:59 PM
again this crap, the money needed to set up a mining operation that could overwhelm 51% of the network at this stage would be best used with that same equipment to secure the network instead, and earn the normal reward from the mining activity

would be more feasible for chinese to do this, because they are already at roi stage

You don't understand, the 51% attack is to destroy the infrastructure of bitcoin in order to save the established banking system in the U.S. and worldwide.

The cryptocurrensy community seems to ignore the inevitable threat of a 51% attack.  Once the government and major banks see that Bitcoin is impeding on their infrastructure they will come together and execute a 51% attack. IT WILL HAPPEN, and the amount of money it takes for them to execute the attack is peanuts.

My question is, what cryptocurrensy has the necessary code to make it insusceptible to the 51% attack? LTC? NXTCOIN?

Let's Discus.. This is important.

"51% attack is the end of the world"

Wrong.

Also pretty poor FUD attempt. No one is interested in your alternative shitcoins.

Dude, watch this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ncPyMUfNyVM

You don't understand how Bitcoin and the blockchain works. The amount of computational power you would need to severely disrupt the network at this point is just ridiculous, and they would lose tons of money trying to do so. They would gain way much more money by being good actors. Learn how the consensus algorithm works before you drop your next FUD thread.

I understand fully about how Bitcoin and the Blockchain works. My sister knows a guy who's ex-girlfriend's uncle was a friend of Sataoshi Nakomoto's brother. What you are saying is absolutely ridiculous. It doesn't matter how much money will be lost, the point of conducting the 51% attack is to save the banking system the U.S. has developed over the past century. They have no interest in becoming a "good player" and collecting peanuts from bitcoin. The major bankers view bitcoin as a silly computer game, and an annoyance that needs to be destroyed.
