These new altcoins are a convoluted mess for the average non-technical cryptocurrensy enthusiast such as my self. It so many coins, and so much technicalities it's confuses me.

The reason I made this thread is because I'd like to get started in Monero because I like the idea of a fully anonymous currency. My question is, is MoneroAddress.org a safe & proper place to get a wallet for cold storage? I recently watched a video with the main developer on Monero (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEVm1dMn5Ks) , and there was a part where he implied the only way to get a wallet was through the Monero program or Mymonero?

I  know I sound like a total newbie, but you people have to understand that not everyone is a computer geek, some of us are regular people who support cryptocurrensy.  Undecided

That thread has 1307 pages, nobody will notice my question.

You could have answered my question medusa13 instead of telling me about another thread.  Angry Sad Shocked

If you ask it it will end up as the last reply, I'm sure you will get a good answer there.

I haven't used moneroaddress yet but AFAIK it is as safe as bitaddress, but you should ask it in the main thread for confirmation.

So where did you obtain your Monero wallet(s)?

I use simplewallet, the default client. You can generate an address offline, without syncing the entire blockchain, and there is a remote node available so if you want you can even check balance without syncing the blockchain.

you can right click, view source code, save it with notepad as a .html file and execute it without internet connection

it generates a valid address.

for me it seems legit
