41  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Can I fit another 5970? on: July 13, 2012, 12:13:59 PM
I guess we can close this thread.

Answered my question, just got another WC'd 5970 in my Rig.

2x 5970's WC'd.
1x 5970 on Air.
1x 5870 on Air.

All happy hashing away at 2.9 GHash/s. Could overclock more to get to 3 GHash/s, but I like all my temps below 90, besides the 5970 on air. :S

PSU is Seasonic X-1250

42  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 5970 - 1 GHash/s - Bad Temps? on: July 13, 2012, 11:49:42 AM
I was seriously impressed of your 1Ghash/s and I would like to know which brand is this 5970?
Is it XFX Black Edition or something or just a reference card?

-fankih-

Haha it was actually a HIS.
It's now hashing away at 465 mhash/s per core. I prefer seeing the VRM temps in the 80s. Smiley

I just got another 5970, XFX Black Edition, with a Koolance block, but unfortunately when I clock over 900 MHz, the VRMs in the second GPU skyrocket. So at 900, GPU 1 VRMs are at like 70, while GPU 2 jumps to 110. Probably just thermal pads or something, but I don't have time for that, so I just down clocked them to 850 and VRMs are below 80.

Personally, I really liked the EK Block on my HIS Card, but the Koolance block on the XFX didn't look to bad.

I was looking around and didn't really see anybody else doing that, so I decided to not push my cards that hard and so keep all my VRMs under 80 now. Smiley

Clocks for the 1 ghash/s are on first post.
43  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining on Android using Tablet - possible or not? on: July 12, 2012, 10:02:51 AM
Is it possible to mine  on FPGA using android on Tablet?
Can get one(USB, cortex 9 1GHz) for 5BTC - cheep as hell - 7" i think.
Is there any miner for android or any other sollution?
I think it`s possible, after linux ARM installation. Still, android, it`s "just" linux Wink

It would probably be dead slow. Something like 1mhash/s.

Look at how slow CPUs are, then think what a tablet would do.

Tbh, you'd probably spend more money recharging then tablet in one day, then the money you generate from it in 5 years.

Ok just to get few things clear.

What price would you use that is more than bitcoin, if bitcoin keeps moving up how would you value your price of payment?

if bitcoin will move up we will have to pay more to keea our clients. thank you

Free bump.

Just a question, what are you doing with all of this hashing power?
45  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 5970 - 1 GHash/s - Bad Temps? on: July 12, 2012, 09:59:29 AM
I'm running my 5970s on air and my vrm are under 100c at 900mhz and 1.1v

If you are on water and can't get it stable it's because you farked up your water block install or used poor quality TIM. Yes it really is that important. It's needs extreme thermal conductivity and the proper thickness.

I actually bought the 5970 with the block already put on, so I don't really know how well it was put on. Then again the seller told me he spent like $200 on thermal pads. Then again, I'm not sure about that.

I'm happy with my 5970 now, it's hashing at around 450 mhash/s, at 1000 MHz, 1212 Voltage.
VRM temps are now in the 80s.

Is this the first time you are doing it?
If not, do you have any people to back you up and say your trusted?

And just out of curiosity, what will you be using these pcs for?
47  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 5970 - 1 GHash/s - Bad Temps? on: July 11, 2012, 10:24:47 PM
It wont help.
I got 7 and that situation:
engine 750, mem 150, 1.05 vcore - DEAD every 3-4 Days and red liight on VRM every 2-3 weeks.
5970 Is watercooled, and max temp on it is 55.
I was using once 5970 with 1100 engine at 1.2 Vocre - temps had 45, and 90 at VRM - after 1h of crunching(boinc) i had hard hung.
It takes large amounts of power. VRM cant take it for a long run.

I have my 5970 clocked at 1000 MHz and voltage at 1212. VRM temps are below 100 and in the high 80s now. Hashing at about 465 mhash/s 24/7 for about 1 week non-stop ad I haven't ran into any problems at all.

Maybe your card is faulty, because I ran my card for 3 days straight with the VRM temps in the high 90s and had no issue.

Then again, it depends on what watercooling gear you are running. I've got a GTX 480 Rad with 4 5400 RPM Gentle Typhoons on full blast, so yeah that's why my temps are so sweet. You may ask if noise is an issue, but I have this rig setup in my garage Smiley
48  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Sapphire 6870 dead or headed that way? on: July 11, 2012, 09:51:17 AM
A general rule I keep for my GPUs is for no temperatures at all to be over 100.
I know that on the 5000 series GPUs the max rated VRM tem is 125, and that doesn't mean 125 24/7, it probably means 125 for a few minutes.

Then I see you have 145C on the VRM.
I'm sorry, but I think that VRM is damaged.

You can try re-pasting etc, but I wouldn't be surprised if the card doesn't work.

Good luck though.

If ya glue another pcie slot to your motherboard you might be able too =p

My mobo can fit 4 cards.
Straight off the Gigabyte website, on the page of my MOBO.

Ohh and also, the board layout.

6 PCI-e slots. I think so.

Great mobo, to bad it's running a cheapo Sempron.
50  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 5970 - 1 GHash/s - Bad Temps? on: July 11, 2012, 09:08:11 AM
Your VRM's will burn out.
Eventually you will see your hash rate fluctuated by 50 or so m/hashes
Once that happens your card will burn out in a couple of weeks or days.

I leave all my VRM temps below 100 now. 5970 is now hashing at 950 mhash/s and clocked at 1000 MHz. Will VRM temps in the 90s burn my VRMs?

Thanks

You should be alright I think...

What's the power draw on that thing?

My VRMs are all running under 100 C.
That shouldn't be a problem running 24/7.

Then again, why should I listen to you, you do have scammer written all over you. (Nice guy that is)

Tell me if the VRM was rated for 24/7 BTC mining ( which is known to force VRM and even power circuits in FPGA to extreme limits ) ?

NO. It is rated for 125 degrees for a few seconds mostly but not 24/7 at all.

Let us know when your card is fried and you can't even game on it anymore due to overheat and damaged components in that area !
51  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Perfect Driver/Stream Combi For 5970s on: July 08, 2012, 08:33:20 AM
Hey mate,

I use SDK 2.1, drivers 11.12, I installed the SDK via the WinRAR method of extracting and installing only the .MSI file.

Now I'm clocked at 1000 MHz / 350 MHz, and get 375 mhash/s per core.

375 mhash for 1000mhz on a 5970/5870 core is REALLY slow. Just saying.
You should easily clear 460 mhash at 1000 core speed for a cypress xt core.

Woops, sorry mate just a typo.
I meant 475 mhash/s.

54  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Can I fit another 5970? on: July 06, 2012, 01:21:40 PM
Hi guys, I'm wondering if I should drop another $300 to get a WC'd 5970, and actually use my rad.
I currently run a rig with the following specs:
2x 5970 (1 Water Cooled with an EK Block)
1x 5870
Gigabyte 990FXA-UD7
AMD Sempron 145
Seasonix X-1250W PSU.

Watercool gear:
HWLabs 480 GTX Rad
4x 5400 Gentle Typhoons
XSPC D5 Pump Res Combo

Electricity ain't a problem, so just ignore that. I know that the WC'd 5970 pulls about 84 Amps. (Yes it's overclocked) I overclock all my GPUs. So I was wondering if my PSU could handle another 5970 overclocked?
I have a huge 480 Rad with 4 5400RPM Gentle Typhoons screaming away in my garage, so I want to kind of use my rad, but I'm not sure if my PSU is up to it.

Also I am running Windows 7 64-bit, so could I run 3 5970s and 1 5870, all overclocked, on my PSU, and be able to mine on THEM ALL. I hear some people say that 5 is basically the highest because after that it gets unstable, but others say up to 8 GPUs are fine. I'm confused. :S

Pictures:

I have underclocked my WC'd 5970 to get lower VRM temps. I keep all my VRM temps under 100 now. Smiley

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers. (Y)
55  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Win 7 - 3x 5970 + 5870? on: July 06, 2012, 12:57:56 PM
Isn't 7 the max limit on win7? so I'm guessing it should be fine unless you don't have the correct psu. Let others chip on their knowledge.

My PSU is a Seasonix X-1250, a 1250W PSU. It's gold rated.

That's why I decided to post this thread, before I drop $300 on a WC'd 5970 and find out it doesn't work. I only have 1 MOBO, Gigabyte 990FXA-UD7.
:S
56  Bitcoin / Mining support / Win 7 - 3x 5970 + 5870? on: July 06, 2012, 05:50:09 AM
Hey guys, I am currently mining with
2x 5970, and 1 5870, (5 GPUs) on Windows 7, 64-bit. I'm using CGMINER.
All is going well.
MOBO is: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD7.

I was wondering if I could throw in another 5970, and mine with that, making it a total of 7 GPUs.
Would that work?

Because I am currently mining with 5 GPUs, 5970's are dual GPU cards.

Cheers

Can this work wih Ozcoin as well?

OzCoin have their own widget. Not really a sidebar thingo, but a program.
http://ozco.in/content/ozcoin-widget

Also both links provided on this thread are dead.
If you manage to find a working link, could you please post it here? I would also prefer an OzCoin sidebar, not the program widget thing.

Cheers
58  Bitcoin / Mining / 5970 - 1 GHash/s - Bad Temps? on: July 05, 2012, 09:08:35 AM
Hey guys,
I just recently got myself a 5970 with a waterblock, and so have that 5970 watercooled, while my other 2 cards, another 5970 and a 5870 are still on air lol.

Are these temps dangerous for a 5970 on WATER?

Overclock settings:
Voltage: 1250
Engine: 1100
Memory: 350

---------------

I am running just a simple water loop just cooling the 1 5970.
Just using some XSPC D5 Res Pump thingo, GTX 480 Radiator (yes I know overkill but got a good price on it), and 4 (yes four) 5400 RPM Gentle Typhoon.

The fans are pretty powerful so I'm not really sure why I get 30C core and 100C VRM. Totally strange IMO.

Just added a watercooled 5970 to my rig.

 Cheesy

1 GHash/s on a 5970, F**k yeah

60  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 5870 - 470 mhash 24/7 & Rig Advice on: June 30, 2012, 11:02:43 PM
Hi! Nice performance for 5870! Could you please tell what are your Catalyst and AMD App versions/ Any flags for CGminer, what kernel or stock settings?

Thanx

Driver version is 11.12
SDK version is 2.1

I installed the SDK by unzipping the EXE and only installing the one .msi file.

EDIT: I changed the OC on the 5870 to 1000 MHz now just to be safe. It's getting ~ 465 MHash/s now.
