Still not an insider because it's either a commodity or a currency.

Even very hardcore libertarians will admit the need to break up monopolies.
Not me. Freedom > Justice. +1 I'm as hardcore an-cap subscriber as you can get and I'm perfectly fine with monopolies that are established by providing a voluntary service or goods. The issue comes when the monopolies arise due to market distortions from government-granted privileges. Food for thought - where would microsoft be without patent and copyright law? And is it truly voluntary when they pull tricks such as telling hardware vendors that customers buying "naked" computers (those without an OS) are criminals? As for facebook though, in no way is it a monopoly or a threat to anyone's privacy - if you don't want your personal info there then don't provide it, this seems so simple it's stupid. That. Cases like the browser lawsuits against MS made me want to puke - even though I wasn't a MS fanboy. I'm not a big fan of Facebook either (though I'm a user) but seriously: If you don't like the way they play NOONE is forcing you to play with them. Anyone wanting to force FB to do business with developers who don't want to use FB credits is a looter in my book.

I wonder what are the risks involved? Not that I have any reason not to trust MadSweeney but aside from the obvious that you risk losing your btc - isn't there also a risk associated with giving someone else your account number? Alternatives like Mlhuiller's kwarta padala has crazy rates though...

I follow you MadSweeney - even offline in The Philippines you're not using your own language enough. National TV, Newspapers, politicians, officials etc. always speak English even to Pinoys - I don't get it? Perhaps because the dialects are so different and Tagalog is based on Luzon?

Following with interest - I think this might end up being a cheaper option than Western Union for money transfers to The Philippines?
PS - I don't speak Tagalog and I'm sure there are more foreigners like me with Pinoy dependants who might be interested in this thread.
Seller vs buyer... I don't see any other option than customer pays first really? Will only work of course if the business enough to lose (or enough trust built up).

Sounds like a good idea. Could even be a peer-to-peer network with a subscription fee, with some part being awarded to hotspots the users connect to.
