41  Economy / Speculation / Re: FUDS are big Confirmations that were in a Bull Market!!!!!! on: January 25, 2021, 11:38:26 PM
Totally agree with @sana. FUD and FOMO are instruments that mess with your emotions. When you're handling your finances you shouldn't be emotional, but call your rationality aka your financial education.

Analyse carefully what is happening in the institutional space because that's where most of the action is happening at these price points. Companies with seasoned financial analysts are more likely to know what they're doing than the average joe, it's a fact (but not always). Wink

FUDs appear when the price drop and FOMO arise when the price increase, two things that occur simultaneously in the market, it's normal though.
yes, we shouldn't make decisions based on the fud or fomo to conclude, yet it can be used as an indicator sometimes, like the trend analysis lead to surge or fall.
FUD doesn't always mean we are in a bull market and fomo doesn't mean the price will be corrected soon, it could be the other way around depends on the market situation and people's sentiment.
42  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens if internet connectivity gets terminated on: January 25, 2021, 05:14:03 PM

Bitcoin needs the internet connection to function, while goTenna only works for regional or local blackout because its devices have a max range of about 3 to 4 miles.
in terms of a global event like a nuclear war that could terminate the internet, then nothing we can do about it, forget about bitcoin, paper money, banking system, etc, prepared for stock supplies and ammo to survive.

The future of banking might happen through blockchain technology and bitcoin in mass adoption. By that time what will happen with the banking process if there happens a termination of internet connectivity for few days time.

If there is a problem with the internet connection, assume it just for a few days, then there are some solutions like mesh network such as goTenna or Locha mesh, and The Blockstream Satellite Network, to transmitting messages, data, bitcoin transactions, and services completely off-grid without having to rely on an Internet connection or even the electrical grid due to battery-powered and could also use solar panels.
43  Economy / Economics / Re: Miami mayor considers investing in bitcoin with public funds on: January 25, 2021, 02:07:28 PM
Many people will against him for sure as the risk of investing in bitcoin considerably high and people will argue that bitcoin is a speculative and volatile asset to spend public funds. Although we know that decision is brilliant considering this year bitcoin might reach a milestone of over $100k. Depends on the time frame, they could double the funds, it's not too late obviously, just find the right entry point.
44  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think that a new ATH is coming or a crash? on: January 25, 2021, 11:40:19 AM
Both of it obviously, after bitcoin reach the ath, a crash will occur, as we know that the price of bitcoin crashed more than 50% in March 2020, would assume it is as a crash if bitcoin suddenly drop more than 40% within a month but assume it as a correction if the price fall below 30%-40%, well the last correction was 28%.
Bitcoin probably could reach $50k in early February, and if it manages to surpass $60k without any major correction, then it would be another great indication for this year to break $100k.
45  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy, sell, HODL? on: January 25, 2021, 10:22:46 AM
Bitcoin fell to $28k on January 22 and recover to $34k in the next day, the lowest price yesterday around $31k and $33,7k as the highest today, what's is the conclusion? it's a common thing to fall and rise in the bitcoin market. What to do whether to buy, sell, or hold depends on your role/purpose, if you are a day trader, the best thing to do is bought bitcoin in 22, sold in 23, buyback again in 24, and sell today. If you are a holder, no question about it, keep buying and keep it safe until bitcoin reaches your target, probably $50k, $100k, or $500k.
46  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paper money vs Digital currency on: January 24, 2021, 07:53:53 PM
~
But there is a huge difference between both these two types of currencies.
-
So, how we  convince the peoples to adopt digital currency?Huh

are you referring to digital currency such as bitcoin or digital fiat currency? as paper money could be used in form of digital since people have been using it seamlessly integrated into the payment methods. No need to convince people to use bitcoin, it meant to be an alternative, not to replace contemporary fiat currency, unless the country broke then bitcoin is a good option for the citizens, although the developers still have to make sure to resolve scalability problem to perform as convenient as fiat currency.
47  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Is Dying on: January 24, 2021, 07:05:32 PM
Bitcoin died long time ago when people started to consider it as an investment scheme rather than the reason why it was invented and I am sure very few people will use Bitcoin as P2P transaction medium since we got numerous altcoins which has lightening transfer speed and costs less in terms of transaction fees. We are all somewhere responsible for converting technology into investment. If even Bitcoin price goes down then I believe users will Hodl as they have learnt from the past.

Why bitcoin should state died or dying just because people buy the dip and consider it as an investment for hedging?
Bitcoin is an alternative currency, yet I prefer to consider it as freedom, even the founder Satoshi himself knows that bitcoin will succeed, or it will not and there is no 3rd option. If the volume increase, thus the price will skyrocket due to high demand and limited supply. because halving cut the rewards for miners while the cost to run a mining farm remains the same or tend to increase, the price of bitcoin should grow as well.
Furthermore, bitcoin seems not to be the main option to replace fiat currency in daily transactions since not every part of the world have companies that act as an intermediary or merchants that accept bitcoin payment.

Quote
because there would always need to be some minimum reward for generating. In a few decades when the reward gets too small, the transaction fee will become the main compensation for nodes.  I'm sure that in 20 years there will either be very large transaction volume or no volume.

48  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Should I sell or hold on my bitcoin? on: January 24, 2021, 06:28:37 PM
I've gone through dozens of analysts' blogs, websites, market cap sites, price prediction sites, and all the important bitcoin market sites to find the right answer. But I am still unsure.

There are a lot of predictions and speculation about the price, but no one can predict 100% correctly.
I've read many predictions as well and according to this one, based on the analysis, double bottom or adam and eve indicates the price may increase by the end of the month, just give it a few days more if you in hurry to sell bitcoin. However, bitcoin should reach higher and your investment will worth double rather than invest in a stock if you are willing to wait at least 6 months.
49  Economy / Economics / Re: Currencies worth less than Satoshi on: January 24, 2021, 05:52:27 PM
Bitcoin was trading for more than 19,000 usd during a few days ago. Satoshi is the smallest unit of bitcoin and one bitcoin is equal to 100,000,000 satoshi. You may not believe it but there are some currencies worth less than 1 Satoshi. There are many reasons to see these currency units here, such as inflation rate.
Who know, maybe after a few years we will see famous and more powerful currencies on this list.

Interesting, but what sources you used to check the rates?
I think most of us know about Venezuela national currency and how bad it is, but the even more interesting would be to see cost of living in those places and what can you really (not) buy for 92.9 VES.
Let's use for example numbeo.com website to check this out (btw. someone should add Bitcoin to Numbeo or make similar website with BTC and Satoshi)

For example one 0.33 water bottle is: 813,492.55 VES (~4764 sats) and one loaf of white bread (500g) is 1,722,932.91 VES (~10130 sats)

that's the mainline of a fiat currency, whether it is worth something or not.
For example, there is no 2.80 in IDR which is 1 satoshi, the minimum is 100 IDR but it's worth nothing if you ask people there, since inflation has rendered it unusable except for bank notes, at least 1000 IDR (almost worth nothing) and depends on the continent it requires at least 10,000 IDR ($0.71) or 20,000 IDR ($1.43) to buy a bottle of water or a loaf of bread.
50  Economy / Economics / Re: What is the point of collateralized loans ? on: January 24, 2021, 05:26:24 PM
Are you expecting free money?

If the value drops by 1/3 from your crypto to collateral asset, your collateral is sold on a dex afaik too.

So what's the point of collateral loan then ? If i can't use it for hedging ...

The point of collateral is for hedging, that's why money lenders required to have a strategy to avoid losses, from assessing a guarantee, a time limit, to the risks that may arise.
A stable coin such as USDC may be one of adequate collateral for the lender due to the value relatively stable compared to bitcoin and altcoins. Then, what is the problem? collateral is a must as a legal bond between both parties.
Nevertheless, take a loan probably not a good idea, why not exchange usdc into bitcoin or eth directly without having to burn the money for paying fees?
if the value of eth or btc increases, no need to pay the interest as well, you can take 100% profit, or vice versa.
51  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can you really 'Sell High and Buy Low' in this 2020 BITCOIN Bull Run? on: January 24, 2021, 04:37:39 PM
Is it really possible to 'Sell High and Buy Low' in this bull run?

In reality, we cannot predict the top and bottom of the market. It is only the game of probabilities which can be predicted from technical analysis but even the most experienced trader cannot sell right at the top. The best thing is to continue to take profits while the price is moving up so that we are in overall profit.

if greed is far from trading there will be no word about Sell High, Sell high applies when buying at the bottom has been successful,
and an increase occurs then that is success too, if greed controls oneself, then Sell High will never be satisfied.
do not let greed come when trading, then your strategy will be broken.

That's one of the strategies in trading, sell at the peak, everyone wants a lower orice as entry-level and always aiming for the biggest profit that we can earn, although in the process hard to predict it correctly all the time, yet greed could lead to months or years of waiting in order to get a higher price, not a bad thing though.
52  Economy / Speculation / Re: Best Youtube Channel for Bitcoin price and prediction on: January 24, 2021, 03:48:28 PM
There are many YouTube channel which discusses bitcoin price predictions, I've ever watched a few channels but as many predictions out there, they discuss predictions from others, such as from twitter, tradingview, and some sites. However, the explanation is wordy to make a longer video, so I prefer to read directly from the source rather than watching videos.
53  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is it just the starting of fueling Bitcoin for riding to moon? on: January 23, 2021, 09:16:43 PM
Institutional investors doing it for an obvious reason, $31k is a discount for such a precious coin in the future beside the dip is the right time to buy bitcoin.
The demand for bitcoin keeps increasing which makes it persist to drop, although the bull runs still in the early phase to reach 6 digits.
While Microstrategy, grayscale and other institutional investors always announce their purchases of bitcoin to the public, there are many other investors out there who do not publish their purchases but still have a positive impact on the market, hence the price reversal occurs in a short time.
54  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dont stay in crypto too long on: January 23, 2021, 08:38:12 PM
SEC can regulate exchanges and cryptocurrency but doesn't mean ruled entirely by them, wake up, sec isn't the one and only, bitcoin thrive not just in the US, there are plenty of bitcoin-friendly countries that support cryptocurrency and exchanges way better than in the US.
Cash or fiat currency isn't freedom, that's a centralized tool issued by the central bank, while crypto as an alternative offer the freedom to manage your own funds and freely move it wherever you want.
55  Economy / Speculation / Re: $27000 or $35000? Which will Bitcoin head to at the end of Jan.? on: January 23, 2021, 08:05:36 PM
Definitely above $35k by the end of January, it just the beginning even if the price drop to $28k yet immediately recover to $34k in the next day, that's how significant the demand for bitcoin these days. There's still a week left and some resistances ahead but the double bottom pattern on the chart indicate a reversal may occur soon, probably within 24 hours, imagine the increase within a week, probably surpass $40k again by the end of the month, a good time to buy bitcoin for traders.
56  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to trade after all time high on: January 23, 2021, 07:11:35 PM
After the ATH trading is far easier, you just have to wait for a dip no matter superficial or temporary the dip is, you have to buy it. I think that trading before and after ATH doesn't have that much difference, I am still a newbie in trading so I only say what I experience.
Trading after ATH is much easier? Of course not in my opinion, because trading after ATH is reached carries a high risk.
price movements are getting faster, there is a lot of FOMO and price drops that may suddenly be drastic.
Trading on ATH should be done quickly and don't wait for it to stay high.
get out and enter the market quickly by using scalping methods that are better and safer.

The best thing to do is waiting for the dip of course, as we know the ath at $42k and drop 27% afterward, that is the time to buy.
Then the price bounce back to $33-$36 and $40k in just 3 days, bitcoin subsequently fluctuates and the last drop to $28k, the cycle will always repeat.
If people want to trade at high risk, yes it's when bitcoin reaches the peak but waiting for the dip is the best opportunity as the price will recover in a relatively short time especially in the bull market, furthermore, bitcoin still hasn't hit $100k.
57  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-01-22] OKCoin to integrate Lightning Network on: January 23, 2021, 03:28:36 PM
yap, one of the best circumstances for customers and exchanges for a faster and lower fees transaction, it's a scaling solution for the community and hopefully more exchanges following the path to apply lightning network as well, look the advantage for both parties.
It will also reduce our current minimum withdrawal / deposit from 0.001 bitcoin or 100k satoshis (~$35) to 0.000001 bitcoin or 100 satoshis (~$0.04).
The next target is segwit for all exchanges, maybe if the mempool congestion is high enough to push them to implement segwit.
58  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in the spotlight again! on: January 23, 2021, 02:57:09 PM
Whenever bitcoin and altcoins in the spotlight mostly because the price went up in a short time causing fomo to people, this situation only makes layman think bitcoin is just a bubble or a shortcut to get rich which both of the reason aren't right to enter the market. I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy bitcoin whenever bitcoin on the rise as the price may decline and causes distress for those who aim for a shortcut to getting rich. if someone asks my advice to buy bitcoin or altcoins, simply explain the advantage and disadvantages of bitcoin and how it works, and a better time to enter the market if want to get profit.
59  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is down a lot on: January 22, 2021, 11:59:17 PM
For an obvious reason, many people are involved in the bitcoin sphere, and some of them want to take the profit. It's not a bad thing for all of us because there are plenty of investors waiting for a lower price to enter the market. We can see how the price bounces back after a brief dip, it's because the demand for bitcoin still considerable great.
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin vs eth on: January 22, 2021, 05:17:30 AM
I have very high hopes for eth and was wondering if I should transfer all or some or none of that bit coin into eth.

Bitcoin has a higher possibility to increase better than eth, although ethereum has clearly outperformed bitcoin so far in this year reach 41400 as the ath, yet the idea to sell bitcoin for eth is a bad move. Just keep it the way you have all this time, bitcoin and ethereum will generate great profits by the end of the year. If you are about to sell it now, don't sell all at once, just a fraction of it to buyback in the dip. Or a better idea, just purchase more bitcoin and ethereum using fiat currency.
