41  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1700Th] Eligius: ASIC, no registration, no fee CPPSRB BTC + 105% PPS NMC, 877 # on: January 21, 2014, 04:20:56 PM

For those of us whose rigs have less than perfect reliability, and who aren't always present to monitor them, the 128/256 second stats can tell us at a glance that our rigs are up and running.  It's super handy to just check it on my phone when I'm at work or wherever.

This +1million.

My rigs are a bit wobbly at best, so knowing if they're dead or not is pretty important to me.

Changing the vardiff to double the diff of the share would be a good idea IMO.

If you are mining at diff 10 after it is settled in, you would now be mining at diff 20.

To keep the resolution intact on the stats- they time frame would need to be doubled also- so 128 seconds would now be 256 seconds.

This would reduce the demand on the DB server by half ~, cut bandwith usage and position the pool for future growth before this becomes a problem again.

This would not affect anyone, as long as they are not staring at a screen 24 hours a day every 128 seconds- now you would need to stare every 256 seconds to get the same result.

WK might have another reason, but I can not think of it- unless some devices time out that I don't know of.

Wk, I know you don't want to-- but double average Minn diff submitted and double the 128 and 256 stats to average out the variance in the graphs.

I think people will understand, this would half the number crunching by the db

Less than 12 hours normally, for 14 units on one host

It is associated with hex2bin scan failure I am pretty sure, but I do not really know what that is.

3.8.4 - it goes hex2bin scan failure and that unit hangs
3.8.5 or later cgminer will crash

I started debugging it, but ended up solving the problem by moving everything onto powered hubs and off USB 3.0

It has not crashed since, so I have not been able to debug it any further.

This was a problem on 2 different hosts, so I consolidated down to one host thinking the host was crashing/causing problems. I think the real problem is that host was a higher end and had more USB3.0 that were being used

I started noticing that the units on the USB hub were not  hanging, then just started figuring it out from there.
I'll try replacing my hubs. I logged it happening this time, and while only 2 units ended up  not coming back up there were 7 that just stopped working at the same time out of the blue.

Are you using 3.8.4 or older or using 3.85 or newer?

The only other time I have had problems like that is a small power blink- the host will stay up but it is just enough to reset the units

I have spent quite a bit of time with the Chilis figuring out why they do what they do, the best and solid solution is

1. I run them all off of powered USB hubs, none are plugged directly into the computer.
2. They do not like USB 1.1 or USB 3.0 - they will eventually have a problem and hang (to me this seems to be the root issue, but I do not know for sure)

I do not know the cause or why, I really only try to fix things so they don't do it again. This has solved the problem for me.

This also solved the Hex2bin scan failed error, which might be related- I don't know
46  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: January 08, 2014, 09:23:24 PM
So, now it is request a refund by tomorrow? or they will ship by the end of January then you could request another refund if they do not ship then?
47  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: January 07, 2014, 04:47:02 PM
Looks like they have resumed sales, the suspended banner is gone.

I was just pointing it out, I have no idea.

I have been in the boat you guys are in with preorders this time last year and it sucks.
49  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: December 30, 2013, 10:10:12 PM
Well

Just to point out they have a January 15th refund date that is set in the sales contract. If you do not request by then it says you forfeit your right basically.

Just don't want anyone to miss that wording, I have not seen it mentioned yet.

I really find goat milk to be much better than cow milk, although cat milk is the best. It is a bitch catching them though

depends on if it is whole milk or 1%
52  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [450 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: December 26, 2013, 07:32:19 PM
You know they have a DB with all shares submitted, so just because it says confirmed does not mean it will not get paid.

I am sure Slush will get it sorted out, no need to get panties all wadded up.

disable catalyst control center and install MSI afterburner instead.  CCC causes many headaches and has been known to cause the type of problems you are talking about.

The best way to get those to run 7 cards is

Press Down, R, Up, L, Y, B on controller two at the scrypt selection screen

Be careful where you mine and exchange bitcoins for money. Most mining pools are a scam, bitcoin exchanges too(they will hold your money for months), look in the scammers section and see for yourself bitconitalk.org/index.php?board=83.0

Failed to send queue is related to poor contact (overheating). Redo your heatsink
57  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Chili – 30+GH/s BFL based Bitcoin Miner Assembly on: November 08, 2013, 02:22:28 AM

Nicknamed mine the chilibug. $32 cooling keeps it at 55c
58  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Chili – 30+GH/s BFL based Bitcoin Miner Assembly on: November 08, 2013, 01:59:05 AM
To answer the questions.

You will need a power supply with a 6 in pcie
You will need a Higher end CPU cooler or GPU cooler.

I have been having very good luck with the dual antec kuhler shelf setup. This also makes a nice stand for the card. I have also been having very very good results with the corsair H60.

The cards HAVE to have a backplate,or they will have trouble booting (blinking or solid lights).

The boards will still connect but not hash in this state. It is poor contact or poor cooling (same thing).

The boards flex easily and even if you can not see it, it will   make your board
1. Not boot, blink
2. Boot , throw a high hash rate but all errors
3. Hash slowly.

Variance, look at 30 and 45 days luck, one day is too little.

The other day we had 4 blocks... it can't be so every day Smiley

spiccioli

edit: you can have a look at a comparable size pool's luck and you will find out that, sadly, at this pool's size it can and it does happen to go a couple of days (and even more) without a block.

Yeah, if you guys could go ahead and find some blocks that would be great.

Didn't you get the new cover sheet for the TPS reports, I will send you another one just to make sure.
