It's great seeing submissions to become a fan and join the street team coming in!

Some seem to have either entered their Spotify username incorrectly or forgot to follow Block Label's profile properly. A list of bitcoin addresses that have had issues will be posted. If you see the address you entered below, resubmit the form with your correct username and double check if you are following Block Label on Spotify.

The correct username to use is the one that's displayed on Spotify, check your profile in Spotify to confirm what it is.

I'll send tokens to no more than 10 new fans/listeners every month. If a lot of people happen to participate they'll go on a waiting list for next month and so on. We can slowly start to measure if people are actually listening and also see if people are being honest, that they aren't creating multiple accounts to get more tokens. Regarding the issue, if everybody created two accounts, that would lead to only half the amount of new fans/listeners per month. If you receive double the amount of tokens, but the total number of streams (profit) is half of what it could have been, it becomes a zero sum game.

Translations (Bounty: 25 FANTOKEN)

Translate the main thread into your native language and post it on bitcointalk under the corresponding “Local” thread.
Before starting a translation you'll have to be approved first. Only real translations with good quality are wanted. Guess it goes without saying, if I wanted to use Google translate I would.
Reserved translations will be listed below and will be given a time/date to be completed, around 2 weeks.

Filipino: uelque (Completed)
Indonesian: andrearz (Completed)
Portuguese: ismart1 (Completed)
Russian: AlisaWhishie (Completed)

Make a nice flowchart/illustration (Bounty: 25/15/10 FANTOKEN)

I made a flowchart, does it make sense?

I think it has way too many arrows. I'm sure somebody can do better!
You can get creative, it doesn't have to be a flowchart per se, it can be a cool drawing of some sort. But it has to have a theme that tells a story of what Block Label is about.
This would be more like a contest. The top 3 will receive tokens.

1st: 25 FANTOKEN
2nd: 15 FANTOKEN
3rd: 10 FANTOKEN

Post your submissions here so others can comment if they like it. They might influence the final decision. The date for when submissions close will be announced at least one month before closing date.

More to come...

btw curious to know if you have FANTOKEN? They were sent to folders ages ago.

That was a limited offer that started on November 2015 and has ended.

For some time now the merged folding is on hold. When the new merged folding platform is ready, anyone will be able to distribute their tokens to the FoldingCoin users and new tokens are expected to be distributed. Check out the official FoldingCoin Workflow website (https://trello.com/b/dYeuIZ7y/foldingcoin-workflow) to see when the new platform will be ready.

Yeah, was just curious if @ComputerGenie had any.

Anyway, sounds good. It might be something I'd use. It depends though, what have you been paying on average distributing foldingcoin this year?

You can find that info here (http://foldingcoin.net/news/) by opening the link of every public meeting. For example, the distribution for July (August 2017 public meeting) costed 0.4925 BTC.

Thanks for the info!

I assume merged folding participants would have to pay the same amount for their distribution? Which seems to be around 0.5 BTC for every 1000 folders.

That brings up another question. If foldingcoin were to grow 100x or 1000x in terms of the amount of folders, what's the plan on sustaining these distributions?

No, but I do still got 0.00062074MAGICFLDC that I couldn't dump Tongue

Want to add FANTOKEN to your list of tokens that aren't worth the fee to dump? You can get some here.

These tokens aren't really meant to be traded, but rather shared. You're supposed to have some in your wallet, kick back with a few beers or the substance of your choice and listen to some music.

If we end up with enough streams we can distribute bitcoin to token holders! If we're not getting enough streams to make a bitcoin distribution feasible, yet there's a minor profit, we could use other tokens like foldingcoin for the distribution.

Basically: Get some tokens, put on a playlist in the background, have fun and don't expect much.

Guys,  don´t forget the FOLDERPEPE merged folding promotion is still ongoing!...
You mean the token that costs more to multiply relist, trying to sell it, than you can sell it for?  Cheesy

@Helene
As usual, you show your refusal to read the actual words people are using (as well as your female equivalent of fanboy status).  Roll Eyes

You're confusing the "cost to transfer" and the "cost to trade".  Angry

As usual, you show your refusal to accept the fact that you are unfamiliar with how trading on the Counterparty DEX works. Placing a sell or buy order also is just like sending any other BTC-based counterparty TX with the corresponding miners fee. Please inspect any trading pair on the DEX in Counterwallet and notice that the same Bitcoin fee button you can find when setting up a send TX in counterwallet also exists on the form where you place your buy and sell TRADING orders. The button lets you choose between "Normal Priority", "Low Priority (Cheaper)" and "Custom Fee". Before placing an order, you need to first consult the current state of mempool saturation to verify what fee in sat/byte will result in your order being confirmed within the desired time frame (same as when making a regular send TX). You choose the fee that is adequate to get your order posted on the DEX within the desired number of blocks. So according to in how much of a hurry you are, you choose the minimum amount in sat/bytes to accomplish the task. Not exactly rocket science, but apparently needed to be explained as some people are not aware of how it works.

Fun fact: an order placed on the DEX results in a Bitcoin transaction of size 257 bytes, which is smaller than a regular token sending TX (264 bytes minimum if using a single input TX). So taking that into consideration, the resulting total bitcoin fee for placing a DEX order will actually be even SMALLER than what I stated earlier about regular sending TXs. Sorry to break it to you, but cost to trade on counterparty is cheaper than cost to send a regular TX. And regarding your poor attempt at labeling me "female equivalent of fanboy" let me enlighten you: I am the official social media representative of Foldingcoin.

I'm here to watch the drama unfold *ba-dum-tshh*

@ComputerGenie:
Fees are a motherfucker. But then again there's a reason and a purpose for it. There was a comment over on the XCP thread that's interesting:

My suggestion is to create an off-chain version of the DEX that settles periodically to reduce fees and allows for instant transactions.

I would contribute towards this.

It's very doable. Free, instant order placing can be offered by a 3rd party market maker. Signed orders are generated locally and sent to the market maker. He scans all orders, updates the order book in real time, and broadcasts only matching orders. Unmatched orders are deleted, i.e. never broadcast to the BTC network.

The market maker can charge some fees for their services, thus a business opportunity.

Outlined more in detail here : https://counterpartytalk.org/t/instant-free-orders-on-dex-why-not/3579

btw curious to know if you have FANTOKEN? They were sent to folders ages ago.

@heunland:
I think he's referring to the relisting on the DEX. Isn't there a time limit for how long things can be listed on the DEX? So, when orders aren't filled he has to relist and pay another fee. Either way, the detailed replies and explanations are appreciated.

@ComputerGenie & @heunland:
The female equivalent of fanboy would be fangirl, woudn't it? Makes sense. Now kiss and make up, let's all get along!

Total streams for the month of August: 10356

Here's what the statistics we receive looks like:

It's less than July, however, we got 501 streams within a single day in August. That's 30 more than the best day in July.

Apologies for the clickbait title! It's slightly misleading, but since you're here, hear me out.

Block Label is a project that releases music on digital services like Spotify and Apple Music. Artists that join the project gets some tokens called FANTOKEN. Listeners and fans are also able to get some as well. If Block Label makes a profit, and that's a big if, then the profits are sent to the token holders.

Here's a flowchart with way too many arrows:

Not entirely sure. But I think posts are counted as an activity after a certain period of time.

If your friend made 30 posts today, it may not show up as an activity until tomorrow. It's likely a minor anti-spam measure.

Wohoo, just sent some tokens to our first street team member!

Since he's the first one to fill out the form, some extra tokens are due I think. Twice the amount of tokens were sent.

Everybody else will be getting 25 tokens.
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What if it was profitable for The Pirate Bay when you listen to music on Spotify on: August 23, 2017, 11:17:20 AM
The following is from a blog post I made last year.

I've recently started a thread here on bitcointalk about the project, if you're into tokens and would like to join the journey, feel free to check it out!
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2048120.msg20408968#msg20408968

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What if it was profitable for The Pirate Bay when you listen to music on Spotify?

That was a weird statement, huh?

I did the following at first because it was something that made me laugh, but then again it wasn't all that silly either...I think.

The Block Label project involves music and tokens. “What are these tokens you speak of?” you might ask. Well, I won't go into the technical details and bore everybody. There are other people and some googling that can explain it way better. But to keep it simple, a token here is kind of like a certificate I can send to you over the internet. This is done using the Bitcoin network and a protocol called Counterparty. A bitcoin address is unique, like your email address is unique. As a comparison, a bitcoin address can receive tokens, just like your emails can have attachments (PDF, mp3 etc) in them.

Basically, musicians get some tokens when they join our project. Others have also received these tokens by answering quizzes I've posted on a couple of sites. These tokens represent a portion of our profits, if or when there ever is one. In other words, if there's a profit we can send bitcoin to the token holders.

When I've held the mentioned quizzes on Reddit there were several users that got the quiz right, however, none who were interested in the prize. To put it into their words “they didn't have a bitcoin account”. Even with my delightful explanation that it's as simple as downloading an app, it just seemed like a bit too much bother. But all in all they enjoyed the trivia. One user said I could donate the prize to charity, so that's what I've done.

There are several projects out there that accepts bitcoin donations. The projects I've chosen to send tokens to are ones that have a static donation address on their site:

  • The Pirate Bay
  • GIMP
  • VideoLan (VLC)
  • The Water Project

25 tokens were sent to each of them. We can all double check that it's been sent which is nice.

So, the next time you add one of our songs to your playlist you'll know that The Pirate Bay might be getting a tiny bit of that streaming revenue. Pretty cool! Or maybe kind of messed up?
