May I type 'setgenerate true -4' in a core i7 win64 machine?

So it adjusts at each block dynamically, but what is the initial block reward value?
Couldn't  find it in the OP..

Bitfreak, glad to see that you are finally releasing your mini-blockchain coin.
I have been watching the other two threads for over a year!
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - Secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency - Now on Hitbtc.com on: July 13, 2014, 01:01:45 AM
I see 3 potential ways:
1- Offering monero to established merchants, resellers.. as a medium of exchange.
2- Making new businesses and apps to let people buy and spent monero, like a poker site, an auction marketplace.. this is a must for any new coin and each of us who is mighty at this, should start..
3- Engaging monero to btc payment points in someway (maybe something similar to veribit could work well.

Not necessary to mention that options 2 and 3 can bring a good revenue for the one who would try first to run them Wink

Can we stop the whole bullshit about price swings and start thinking and talking about more constructive stuffs??
For example: what is a good strategy for expanding the marketplace and increasing the network effect here?
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - Secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency [CPU/GPU(NVIDIA+AMD)] on: July 04, 2014, 09:25:09 PM

Because Bitcoin is traceable and only quasi anonymous, with mass surveillance a real thing it makes sense if you want to transact privately. Dont forget with good blockchain forensics by just paying for a small thing p2p someone can identify your general wealth etc. Dont get me wrong there are plenty of ways to mitigate the problem but from a general ease of use POV if its anon by default its generally just better.

Thats the great thing, I agree that it will be great for private transactions and in a P2P world without banks a lot of day to day transaction will become private. But it can do both, it can be great as an anon day to day currency lending the general population a modicum of privacy and well suited to the private transactions you speak of.

An interesting thought for me has been the idea that there are some financial transactions or even legal instruments where it benefits and protects both parties for it to be publicly provable.

Your honor, I claim cAPSLOCK did not send me 300 bitcoins for my used Lambo!

I am sorry Mr Goat, I can see right here on my phone where cAPSLOCK indeed send 300 bitcoins from his address to your address.  Please give him the keys and transfer the title on the blockchain using counterparty.
That's why we should consider monero type of currency the bitcoin complement and not it's competitor, If and when they could become somehow conjugated..

It will be astonishing if there could be a way to side-embed this with bitcoin (decentralized), or at least conjugate their payment terminals to each other (centralizd). Any idea?

I recognize you from the nxt community. How long have you been involved here?
nice ROI

thats a little bit of an understatement. you may literally be a legit guinness book entry world record holder. Cheesy

anyway yea me too. this is my first foray since my involvement in nxt. cryptonote really seems promising and monero the most promising among them.
Unfortunately monero is a bit pricy now to buy a huge pack from, but I bought some..
Anyway for me this one is more of an interesting project to involve and follow than an investment vehicle.

Not too much, about two weeks I guess. Unfortunately the nice ROI I got from Nxt made me left away from monitoring alt-scene for several months.

Is it technically possible to side-embed monero to bitcoin?

Who is dumping?!

If these clones are really innovative, new and they stand on their own feet, then why don't you try to trade them in an independent place separate from this specifically opened for trading Nxt thread?? Which kind of attention are you trying to catch here???

I do trade them there, but this is a NXT trading thread. Nothing here specifies that I MUST trade against BTC, or did I missed something?
My comment was not directly targeted at you, and yes formally speaking one can sell anything against Nxt at this thread (though this thread was not opened with that purpose in mind, it was more of a btc to Nxt kind of exchange, as I was the one who asked Pouncer to open it at early days).

What I say is simply this, by bringing several copy-paste clones of Nxt into the scene, you guys are diluting the purpose and chance of success for this first innovative pure PoS coin here.

No means to accuse you of anything, formally you can trade Nxt for sex toys as well. Though there was a point that was needed to be said!

Buying and selling Nxt clones here?? What do these clones offer that Nxt doesn't itself?
Clones shitty pump and dump games!

55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Bitcoin Cooperative Proof-of-Stake - CPoS on: June 15, 2014, 11:08:10 AM
Not any 51% attack has happened recently: actually there was a concern about ghash.io total share of btc mining power which was fluctuating at the 40%-50% range recently.. As a result Bitfury dropped 1PH/s of its mining power from the ghash.io pool to cool off the threat and satisfy the concern.

Nxt might not be the most optimum PoS scheme which could be implemented theoretically (but which coin has the optimums so far?), anyway it is the first pure PoS working and that it is doing not partially but as we've seen in the past six months, enough satisfactorily.

Some people just like to speak, and to speak too much.. for proof reference you can have a look at mastercoin thread.
I am passionately following the OP's work and contribution in this thread, hope we could have less noise and nonsense here.
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt full feature clients - progress tracking thread on: May 29, 2014, 12:32:23 PM
I am here to ask utopianfuture release the 48000 Nxt I gave him for awarding the best Nxt client (that should supports windows too) until April 15th.
Perhaps he can open a poll for selecting the best one inquiring the tech board to assist in making the decision.

I am going to transfer the bounty to the technical or the infrastructure committee and they will decide how to use the reward.
May you provide me with the tx proof that those 48K Nxt has already been awarded to a developer, or as you said in your last post, to the official technical or infrastructure pool. I need this as I am completing my report and summary on given bounties.

Thanks: happy to know that the bounty I have given to UtopianFuture has been awarded to contributors finally.
