41  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are you buying bitcoins? Why? on: August 05, 2016, 05:01:16 PM
I have bought some bitcoin in the past. I am holding most of the coins. I have also used some to buy things.

The Ethereum is quite profitable to mine. I heard that many bitcoin users are buying the Ethereum now, so the price is high.

You can open as account in Poloniex and start trading straight away. You can give them your name and have $2000 per day withdraw limit.

The price of Etheruem dropped a lot recently, the difficulty also rises fast. It might not be so profitable to mine in the future.

the real 390 competitor it's vega, the 490, not the 480, but since gpu do not scale in the right way with etheruem, i would not hold much hope for the 490 being the best card to get

The Vega was originally to be launched early next year, but that has been put forward. If there is big improvement over the 390, I might buy it.

It has HBM2, very wide bandwidth. It could be faster than the R9 390. But the price could be very high.

In my place, the 970 and 390 cost the same. So for me, it is better to buy the 390. It also has 8GB memory.

I would like to bid 0.031.

I would really suggest you use Coinbase, that's the safest option in my opinion.
Though it isn't exactely cheap to buy Bitcoin with credit card.

I think Gemini is also a safe option. It is insured by the FDIC. That means your fiat is safe there below certain amount.
49  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Japan Officially Recognizes Bitcoin and Digital Currencies as Money on: May 04, 2016, 06:53:13 AM
so this mean that they are following the european court route, and bitcoin will be free of vat

the problem with bitcoin right now, is that some country see it in a way and other in another worse, or better way

if bitcoin will grow better in some specific country i guess soem people will migrate there...i know i could do it one day

As time goes on, most country in the world will recognize the bitcoin as a currency. So most people will use it.
50  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will stabilize at the same price that it was at 2 years ago.. $150-$200 on: April 20, 2016, 08:42:55 PM
As long as bitcoin is still in the process of evolution, i don't see it stabilizing very soon. We will still experience volatility in its prices which will lead to big oscillations. At one time, the price might even go below $200 and we might also realize a price above $600. At the moment, the price is oscillating between $400 and $450. But I am sure there will be a different price in the next two months.

The price will never go below $200. The price below $300 is a history now. Its price will double this year.

The bitcoin is stable around $420. But the price will not so stable in the near future, nearing the halving.
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Etherum Mining help on: March 06, 2016, 08:56:48 AM
To me BTC looks like a falling knife. But maybe it is just me.

When the block size prolbem is resolved, the price of bitcoin will resume the up trend. But we have to wait until May probably.

This is getting really entertaining gamble. At 440 USD/BTC S5 suddenly becomes money making machine. At least for a while Wink

"Money making machine" with 80% revenue going to maintaince is not even a funny

If you have S5 - sell them ASAP!

Revenue to maintenance is unimportant, price is. I purchased a bunch of S5 at 0.0028 which at 440 usd/btc means  almost 2% per day from mining, so I don't plan to sell right now ;-)

Do you need to pay the maintence cost? If you have to, then the Hashnest will turn it off when the difficulty is high.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] sgminer v5 - optimized X11/X13/NeoScrypt/Lyra2RE/etc. kernel-switch miner on: February 10, 2016, 10:35:59 AM
do you think the qtminer with stratum support will have more mined coins, ie more efficient, than the etherminer directly?

Yes because the blocktime is 15 seconds. If you mine to a pool, use a stratum miner. If not Solomine.

Does the qtminer contact the pool every 2 second? Is that too long for the 15 second block time?
55  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HASHNEST Discussion and Support Thread on: January 29, 2016, 11:31:45 AM
The hashrate boom continues. Block generation time is already down to about 550 seconds. Itīs ten days to go but the next difficulty increase will probably be between 5 and 10%. It has doubled in the last four months, unbelievable.

When the 16 nm chip comes out in March/April, the difficulty will jump even faster. Too much money is invested in mining.
56  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: USA citizen - how can I buy/sell btc without using Coinbase or LocalBitcoins? on: January 16, 2016, 11:21:19 AM
You can use Gemini. It is regulated by bitlicense. It is based in New York. So you are quite safe.
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] sgminer v5 - optimized X11/X13/NeoScrypt/Lyra2RE/etc. kernel-switch miner on: January 08, 2016, 09:15:49 PM
Can someone share hash speed with HD7990 and R9290X on mining ETH.

Thanks.

ETH R9 290X: 26.33MH/s @ 1040/1300/-25%/-25mV; 26.67MH/s @ 1040/1300/-10%; 30MH/s @ 1150/1500/+50%/+25mV

Edit:  Windows 10x64; Crimson 15.12

Update: 16.1 Crimson Hotfix (Jan. 7) has no discernible increase/decrease on ETH mining hashrate.

I also find no difference between 14.6, 14.7, 15.2 and 15.7.
