Sounds like GPU miners like yourself are the greedy ones? Another ASIC dog unmasked "cryptotore" Bitcointalk: Show the last topics started by this person. "Hi, I would like some help with a design to sound proof 10-20 Antminer S9's. I've been searching but havent really found any good threads on it, hope its ok I create a new one. This is my goal: -Be able to run 10-20 S9 in my garage without bothering the neigbours." "Got 6x S7 coupons valued at 0.05 BTC each available for sale. 0.025 each 0.12 for all" Why dont you go, and start and support a ASIC coin - SOB. And YES i will proudly say I am nice size GPU miner and I supported a lot of projects since 2012 with donations to devs and to list coins on exchanges. Also, as for many here mining is my hobby. I dont drink, smoke or party and money is not the most important think in my life. in blockchain i see future for better world. where a GPU owner/miner in afrika or asia could provide for his family without sale his kidney to a greedy F...k like you. WHAT DID YOU DO TO THE CRYPTO COMMUNITY, BESIDE PROFITING OF COINS, THAT OTHER MEMBERS OF THIS FORUM SUPPORTED FROM THE BEGINING? Lol! Here's some facts: I've been a GPU miner since Q2 2013. Here's a pic of one of my first rigs: ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FUmeOZG7m.jpg&t=663&c=o_xe1-ET-ER-Bg) The very first block I found was LTC block number 340717. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2Fm4IWhb1.png&t=663&c=nTgSBwXWflTISw) I was very active in the wemineltc community, helping a lot of newbies get started. I donated/lost a lot of btc through btcjam.. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) I've even sold some very cheap btc to Tim Draper. What more do you want from me? I currently have: 13x S9 1x L3+ 1x D3 2x B3 6x Z9 mini on order 2x E3 on order 26x RX580 65x RX570 12x 1080ti 2x 1070ti 1x Vega64 And yes, I've been buying asics since antminer s1. I will continue buying asics. I'm actually building a container this summer to host 100kW of ASIC's. I will source more GPU's when requirements for level 4 supplier in the sonm.io network is ready You mad?

First thing that comes to mind is that when you're a GPU PoW coin, its possible to develop an asic in secret and basically take over the network without anyone knowing.
If you're already on asics (fastest tech available atm), you're not vulnerable to stuff like that.
The ASIC manufacturer could sell only a small fraction of its miners and keep the rest mining for itself. That makes a coin/algo that has been ASIC'ed just as vulnerable to "secret mining" as one that is still only mineable with a GPU or CPU. So, no, the successful development of ASICs for an algo does not make it any less vulnerable to shady behavior by ASIC manufacturers. So you would say bitcoin is just as vulnerable to someone developing a better tech and taking over the network as for example monero?

Thinking of shutting down thread. Gpu mining is in sad shape.
Thoughts everyone?
Looks like Metroid called it.
Don't close it, I'd like to discuss fog computing networks like sonm.io. Its the future for us GPU miners IMO. I'm running a small hobby mining company, and my plan has always been to become a provider in projects like sonm. Any interest in debating this?

I would like to know what makes asics better at securing the network than gpu's? Also some idiot saying that gpu miners jump ship if another coins is more profitable...So do asic miners. You only have to look at BTC and BCH if one is more profitable than the other to mine they simply switch their asics to that coin.
We all saw the posts when zec first started .. making promises at being asic resistant....in order to be resistant you have to actually resist. its so easy to say your resistant when there is nothing to resist against.
I would like to see the 20% paid by the miners put to some good use and use the 20% to pay the devs for their time to fork away from asics and actually keep their word.
Everything the OP has stated is true and in my opinion if they dont fork away from asics they should be held liable for their lies and deceit. They are no better than Bitconnect it my eyes.

I tried, it does not work on the B3. Both fans still at max speed.
Tried this:
"bitmain-fan-ctrl" : true, "bitmain-fan-pwm" : "50"
and
"bitmain-fan-ctrl" : true, "bitmain-fan-pwm" : "50",
I thought a comma , was missing behind the "50" but no change ...
Same for me, tried: ] , "api-listen" : true, "api-network" : true, "api-groups" : "A:stats:pools:devs:summary:version", "api-allow" : "A:0/0,W:*", "bitmain-fan-ctrl" : true, "bitmain-fan-pwm" : "50", "bitmain-use-vil" : true, "bitmain-freq" : "_ant_voltage=0706", "bitmain-voltage" : "0706", "multi-version" : "1" } and this: ] , "api-listen" : true, "api-network" : true, "api-groups" : "A:stats:pools:devs:summary:version", "api-allow" : "A:0/0,W:*", "bitmain-use-vil" : true, "bitmain-freq" : "_ant_voltage=0706", "bitmain-voltage" : "0706", "multi-version" : "1", "bitmain-fan-ctrl" : true, "bitmain-fan-pwm" : "50" } But no change, fans seems to be still at 100%. Anyone was able to change fan speed? Sounds like you need to disable fan control? Maybe something like: "bitmain-fan-ctrl" : false,

Don't worry guys, you wont be using your GPU's for mining much longer anyway.
I'm going all in as a supplier in the sonm.io network. Livenet launches in june, but only with crypto mining IaaS to begin with. IaaS crypto mining is basically automated mining with profit switching, aka a contract that will be generated to mine the most profitable coin when your rig is idle/has no other contracts/deals.
Later on customers will be able to rent your GPU/CPU/HDD or internet bandwidth as well. Your rig(s) will always sell to the highest bidder, which means profit will always match or be better than regular GPU mining.

I have 2 that are showing as hashing on port 6666 on ant pool. Other ports are dead. Hashing is confirmed on Antpool dashboard. No earnings yet though
How did you order 2 from batch 1?

Are any of you using simplemining OS? Can only find ccminer tpruvot that supports nist5, which gives me 20-40 mh/s ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif) I am using Hiveos from hiveos.farm it does support Alexis and mulitples other ccminer fork. Thanks, will check it out! ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

I've been following these guys for a while, and I must admit it looks and feels like a scam.
They were suppose to have a prototype of the chip and results ready a month ago (15 feb), I havent heard a peep. They also tried to rush me into investing in their cloud mining "before it was too late".
That being said, I dont necessarily believe they are intentionally trying to scam people. They have probably just pre-sold the contracts based on chip simulations.

Please god can someone help me out? Im so tired of rigs not booting, it usually ends in "no screen session found" or "check console".
Im running asrock h110 btc pro and rx 570 gpus with delta server psus.
Some of the rigs just always works, but it seems like the usb becomes corrupted or something on the rigs that crash, it usually helps replacing the usb with a new image.
My problem is i need to drive 1000 km to reach the location of my rigs.. ive spent the last couple of weekends driving to the rigs and replacing usbs.. but i cant keep doing this.
Just today ive driven 1000km, and 20 minutes after I left, the problem rig was offline, with error msg "check console"..
One does not simply check console!
Im frustrated, any help would be nice!!

I'd love to see 2 versions of AntMiner S-series for the "11". One should be focused on staying at or below 1200W so that everyone who uses the APW3++ can purchase one without having to worry about needing 220v power, The other should shoot for the full 1600W that the APW3++ can handle on a 220v circuit.
I dont like running a PSU at max capacity, more efficient at lower loads, probably longer lifetime on the PSUs aswell!

I love this thread, so much knowledge! ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Could you guys give me some advice on PSUs? I'm going to build a couple of 12/13 GPU rigs, and the plan is to use 1x HP 1200W server PSU with breakout board, per 6GPUs. I'm thinking: 12 PCI cables on each PSU is perfect, 6 plugs for the GPU's and 6 for the riser cards. (I'm only going to use 6pin risers from now on, tired of molex to sata adapters melting ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) ) And I would use a cheap ATX PSU to power the motherboard, ssd, fans and the 13th GPU. This is the plan for the RX 570 rigs, the GPUs only have 1x 8pin power connector, but how should I do it on cards that got 8+6 pin? Or even 8+8? Is it true that I can run a card with just 1x 8pin plug, even tho it comes with two? What are the risks? I'm going for 7 12/13 GPUs in total in this round: 3x RX 570 2x 1070 Ti 2x 1080 Ti Thoughts on this? This is the case I'm using: ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2F0e8dSn5l.jpg&t=663&c=iB1j5dDhKlubcQ) ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FosOG0brl.jpg&t=663&c=psSgi6BkbiY9gQ)

I wonder if that wouldn't make coins value drop. If it does, it is bad for everyone. Sure their electrical grid would sure appreciate it. Meanwhile we got these Norwegian dudes claiming to be hosting 50% of Chinas hashrate sometime in 2018. https://www.kryptovault.no/http://www.cryptotech.no/
