We all noticed how slow the indexing process has become compared to the previous one when they operated on the old server. But here's a nice point on behalf of Blockchain Expert:

I added transaction verification to the indexing script.
This is making the indexing a bit slower but adds more security for blockchains that might fork.
This indexing script is for all block explorers and not only fastcoin."

"deepest blockchain in crypto universe to sync here" = good or bad? (I guess the first). I'd say the other way around. FST is a real resource hog. On my server the FST client consumes a whopping 3.7GB of RAM, which is by far the most of any of the clients I run. For comparison, the Bitcoin client only uses 0.6GB (although, to be fair, BTC does use much, much more disk space) Because of the huge number of blocks a sync or rescan can take several days, at high CPU load. I surveyed the last 500 blocks in the FST blockchain and over 96% have no additional transaction beyond the miner reward. The tradeoff for fast transactions is that the blockchain continues to grow to excess, with mostly empty blocks being issued every 12 seconds. Some coins have toyed with limiting the block creation rate (and therefore blockchain bloat) by only permitting new blocks when a certain time period has elapsed, or there are a certain number of transactions in the mempool. So you could have a default block period of 1 or 2 minutes, EXCEPT when there's a transaction that's moving through, which will cause a more rapid block creation rate. This would greatly increase the average transaction density of each block. I just don't see how such a resource hungry coin can be sustained without any changes in the near future. "deepest blockchain in crypto universe to sync here" = good or bad? (I guess the first). I guess also that as they migrated to new servers, they have huge backlogs between all their host coins, because previous time (with the old server) it took a while to roll first 2-3 mils blocks. |

If I were you, I would put everything into the "experiences" shelf.
If you just dig quickly on every crypto-forum (BTC's included), you'll find endless cases of stalled-transactions, and the reasons are the same that "fast-coin" listed above.
After all the efforts made by Stouse49 and other FSTers.... mining+compiling with customized procedures etc etc.... , it should be clear that here none stole to nobody.
The ball is DEFENETELY into their court (Livecoin's and Cryptopia's).

I really think we need to put efforts to increase and improve our community. A slack channel, updating the reddit page and making public the core developments can bring a lot more legitimacy for us.
Guys, these are simple tasks. Don't want to put unnecessary pressure on our team, but it's difficult to follow the developments just on this thread. And the fastcoin forum is really old fashioned and looks abandoned.

Forgive me but this is the old chicken-egg problem... I try to post something there, but fact is that everybody keeps on posting here. Though changing 2 colours and a background would take 10 minutes and that alone would trigger curiosity in most old users... "hey, maybe this is back to life". Then, a good work of cleaning would be great.... it takes time but anyway, piece by piece. Do away all not working links, old and useless messages etc. That said, nowadays maybe twitter accounts are gaining more interest Vs Forums. ---- Last but not the least... how many days are needed in order to run this blockchain? C'mon blockchain experts, Whip the horses! |

Mine is working.
I guess they're working on it. I've been told they're putting on different versions (languages).... among all, italian version I provided them.
Most important point, is that the blockchain explorer is now almost ok, if you consider the fear that was building some days ago... worst fear was a break/fork/glitch/don'tknowwhat on the blockchain.
Instead, the provider communicated us that 24 hours ago they were at 8+ Mils blocks.

FST is stuck, but every coin is slow or stuck.

hi any new on new exchanges added?
I'm applying for several exchangers, reporting some facts. Yesterday I applied with Kraken and BTER. Basically, they reply that they collect requests and won't reveil anything until a decision is made. --- OFF TOPIC. I see here several INTERESTING Topics mixed together and most discussions get lost. Really we have to break this chicken and egg problem with the FST forum.... most keep on posting here.... they don't post on the Forum because it gets less attention than here..... the Forum gets less attention so we post here. Simply, we have to start posting there. IMO, the DevTeam should clean up some very old discussion on the Forum..... old links not working.... Maybe a very quick refresh on the layout (just 2 colors and a background) would help, just to catch attention and prove it's alive. |

Back to running. Now indexing is almost at 1 Mils blocks. The Blockchain while I write (check your wallets) is almost 10 Milions blocks. |

on positive note, i downloaded the bootstrap.dat from google drive, and took less than 5 minutes to get the blockchain sync and running.
works flawlessly and transactions are indeed fast
Gently, can you provide here link, because I'd like to install another wallet on another PC. (first one I installed, it was 2014). Thank you. |
