According to BTC-e (looks to be a BitInstant sister company - run by the same people), BitInstant only has 2 USD left in its reserves (was 15 USD a few hours ago, and was in the thousands days ago). Not sure if this is affecting all the people who can't get funds.
I don't quite understand the "reserves" dynamic, but I really hope that's not the amount BitInstant is working with to get your transactions complete.
BitInstant has nothing to do with BTC-e except they are an exchange, and we are their processor. If we were the same company, why would we have to keep reserves there? Charlie Good point! It just seemed to me like BitInstant and BTC-e were operated and joined in some way, and I suppose it would be proper to keep everything as a separate legal entity, and have different bank accounts, a legally defensable ledger (transfer from BitInstant into BTC-e reserves), etc. But I see that I was wrong.

Yankee,
I am still waiting on my order from a week ago (last Tuesday, February 12, 2:26 pm EST) to be manually filled. Nothing has shown up in my wallet or at blockchain.info. Please either manually fill it, or at least give me an update. I'm not used to waiting a week to receive bitcoins from a company with "Instant" in the name and which in the past filled my previous orders in less than an hour.
OrderID: 5a5b26e3-22d4-447d-992d-4943cf309f00 EventID: 3b177796-1966-4994-9c88-390c8d399d8b QuoteID: d546598f-0c01-42f8-9665-465b40cd2232
Thanks!
Looks like your order completed within an hour on the 12th... https://www.bitinstant.com/order_status/d546598f-0c01-42f8-9665-465b40cd2232But I don't see anything in blockchain about it... http://blockchain.info/address/14e3Fmgm6CytVyeU5WcpDVqWwNUatS2EUKStrange. Was this direct to a personal wallet address or to Mt Gox, etc?

Though I'm pretty sure that amount is related to having a successful cash-to-wallet transaction, as far as I can gather on here (too bad this stuff is not explained anywhere, so we're all left wondering WTF is going in).
Stuff like this, really makes me nervous. Anyone have any issues doing cash-to-BTCe and then transferring out to a wallet today?

Goat, why is your "ignore" link (on your posts) highlighted? No one else's is. Just wondering.

Your website is down? DDoS again? I think having a somewhat static file / not-very-hackable and low-bandwidth status.bitinstant.com server somewhere behind a DDoS mitigation appliance or provided-service would be a good idea (or at least something that's not on the same server and IP as the main website). We could all just go there and find out what is down, why it's down, and what is the estimated time of arrival. I think that would cut down on having to post on Reddit, here, and random places... all the places aside from where it really should all be at. CloudFlare shouldn't be too expensive. Or any number of services - https://www.google.com/search?q=DDoS+mitagationYou're going to have to eventually.

It was established that Coinapult is the service used by BitInstant to perform to-wallet transactions, in this thread, on every page?
I read a few in here, never saw that. Can you post a link to that specific post (shouldn't be hard, since its prevalent knowledge)?
I wonder why if that connection between the two is so well understood, why everyone in here is now asking why to-wallet transactions are no longer an option.

that's dated 10/29
I think you skipped over what I was saying... That post (from 10/29) shows that to-wallet transactions are done via that service.

I can confirm that the blockchain has shown two transactions into the specified address - with the extra transaction being for 1 Bitcoin.
That definitely makes up for the fee and whatever price fluctuation from the original price of 26.5 to today's high of 27.5 on a $130 purchase.
So in effect, I got ~5.7 bitcoins at ~$22.9 US dollars (when excluding ZipZap's fee and BitInstant fee, otherwise at $24.5)!
Thanks!
I've updated all my posts to show that the issue has been resolved.

Thank you for resolving the issue Yankee,

I'll update the other thread I posted in.

After my simple cash-to-address transaction was accepted, and then automatically failed, and never redone, my confidence in BitInstant has been going down dramatically. Because once they fail you, you are SOS, and it's a waiting game at best. They seem to put your transaction away, and forget about it, while accepting more business. I don't even think they do anything about it UNTIL you figure out how to contact them, at least that’s the impression I've got so far. No doubt they have an excuse for all that - not enough support people, system can't auto redo failed transaction / it's too complex, some 3rd party API failed 12h ago (and was up 1h later), DDoS on exchange (that no longer is being DDoSed), etc.
And someone even said they don't work on the weekends to fix it!? So if it's Friday, your SOS until at least Monday. But I've not confirmed this yet.
If you take a look into their support thread on this board, this is a constant issue with BitInstant. Their excuses don't make sense because they still accept other transactions and perform them at the same time. Two friends did their cash transactions at the same time in Wal-Mart or CVS, one was good, the other was failed.
One guy had his transaction "completed", yet blockchain has no records of any coins being sent to his address, and it's been more than a day.
My first bitcoin experience has been very negative due entirely to BitInstant, and while I hope BitInstant is not selectively scamming people, or is not using this opportunity to make a profit on the difference between the locked in price and what they hope to buy at a later time ... after reading the support thread I don't understand why there is not a huge red warning here about them. They obviously have major issues and are completly unable to do anything about it.
I'd think that these forums are here to help bitcoin users, not BitInstant.
EDIT/UPDATE - My issue has been resolved.

hi yankee,
is something wrong with btc-e? there is enough $ on reserve, but i dont see the money i transfered.
Order ID c6bb2bd6-5cb3-4b0b-8d50-99caae587ca0 Quote ID cc28af16-9cd8-4553-8f92-2ffc957c3c7d Event ID 149b4279-6f01-4076-9ad5-2d9ecffc3c1d
Hey, BTCe has been DOS'd all day. As soon as the attack ends, the orders will be processed Are they still under attack? i used your service about 8-10 times... only 2 attempts was really instant. else i have to wait at least 1 day. i like the idea behind it, but technically it is not ready for use. i hope you will fix these problems soon. If you look back to ANY page in this thread, it's the same story over and over again. Failed transactions. Then the wait game begins were you are left wondering if you'll ever see your bitcoins. > i hope you will fix these problems soon. Just like I said, look back to any page in this thread (there are 52 of them), if they wanted to fix this they would have by now. Whether technically fixing it, or just preventing new orders, or automatically redoing them, or just letting people know up-front that there is going to be a 24h wait (or up to 7 days), or getting more staff in, etc. EDIT/UPDATE - my issue has been resolved.

It's been day, night, and now it's morning. I still don't have my bitcoins. My transaction was the simplest of types - cash - to - wallet.
How much longer is my order going to be delayed?
It's Friday now. And I've read back here in the pages that BitInstant staff don't work on the weekends! - edited - they do work on the weekends.

On the BitInstant page in now says -
All Reserves Up | Some Orders Delayed - Email for Support
I'd really like to understand why failed orders for simple cash - to - wallet transactions are "delayed" and not automatically redone (instead penalized with great wait times), while other transactions go though just fine.
I'm still SOS.

I've been reading some of the past posts here to get an idea of why this is happening. So far the story is that it seems to be caused by DDoS attacks on the exchanges, some issues with 3rd parties / APIs failing, user faults, and sometimes bad or non existant support.
But some questions have come up...
Yankee -
When a purchase transaction that should have never even been accepted by the system (when system is clearly inoperable) in the first place is automatically (and/or predictably) failed, does BitInstant lock you into that exact time's bitcoin price? On which exchange - MtGox?
Does this work both ways, if the price later increases or decreases?
What if after 48h the price drops or increases dramatically?
Why are failed transactions delayed so long, it seems that other transaction go through, but the ones that failed are scheduled to be pushed much much later on? The only way I can explain this and make sense of the comment that the exchange api failed earlier, is if you don't really buy in real-time on the exchanges, you just give out from your own coin reserves, and later on in the night or day cover your own position on different exchanges and however else for your advantage - in the hopes of making a profit on it. But this way, I still don't see why similar transactions fail and suceed at the same time.
Is BitInstant still accepting transaction that it can't complete?
When will this all be cleared up (the simple cash to coin transactions at least)? When the DDoS ends (hasn't it yet)?

Attempted to do my first cash-to-wallet transaction via BitInstant. But it seems to have been unsuccessful (Order execution failed!) and now it's just stuck on "New Order"...
The log doesn't seem to be ordered/displayed in a chronological fasion - so I'm not even sure if I should trust it for that fact.

If anyone could explain to me why this happened, what's going on right now, and what happens next ... that would great! I'll also look back some pages to see if an explanation for all the problems has been posted.
I thought I'd have bitcoins relatively quickly, but now I'm reading here that a few people wait days to a week before it's resolved!
Thanks.
EDIT/UPDATE - support emailed response about transferring to tech support for manual transaction.
No explanation why this has to be done manually, why it failed, why they can't cancel and reload it in 30 seconds automatically (I'm sure 100s of successful transactions are being done right now)... No insight provided into the issue = huge problem for me. If I just knew, that would be 95% of my worry.
EDIT/UPDATE - Issue resolved.
