41  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BFGMiner 3.5.0: modular ASIC/FPGA, GBT, Strtm, RPC, Lnx/OpnWrt/PPA/W64, KnC/HBR on: November 07, 2013, 04:06:03 AM
Everyone who had problems with 3.5.0, please test latest git and let me know if I fixed them all...

Latest git build appears to be picking up a non-existant bitfury device which (as it's not there) is gettng 100% HW errors ...
 BPM 0:       |  3.00/21.26/ 0.00Gh/s | A:0 R:0+0(none) HW:692/100%

redoing my standard config and disabling all bitfury related devices seems to fix it:
./configure --enable-scrypt --disable-avalon --disable-opencl --disable-bitfury --disable-bfsb --disable-bigpic --disable-modminer --disable-x6500 --disable-ztex --disable-littlefury --disable-nanofury --disable-metabank --enable-cpumining --enable-bitforce --enable-icarus --disable-knc

-although it has now 'lost' 2 of the USB-BlockErupters Sad

I don't know if you've been watching the market lately but gold is heading UP.
Not really  - It was 820GBP/OZ when you posted, it dropped to 809 and bounced back and is currently 835 - so nominal overall movement :p

Unlike BTC which seems to be on an overall upward trend.

Anyway you have a PM Smiley
44  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [24 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: October 26, 2013, 01:02:44 PM
As soon as the difficulty rose to 268 m without anything changing at my side (after three months working perfectly) I stopped receiving payouts. After a week I ended up with one pay out of a very low amount as previously wrote in a previous post, but p2pool has paid out about 17 times. I had noticed that I couldn't get a successful share before the pool solved a block and when I did manage to get two , one was orphaned.
That's the problem with a 'small' (yes anything under 100Gh/s is now small) hashrate compared to both your chosen pool and the total network rate.

The only way to have kept the amount more-or-less constant would have been to outgrow the %age changes and added 200 times your hashing power this year !
45  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Gold Assay Cards [Free Shipping] on: October 26, 2013, 12:16:46 PM
Both of these are still very available!
https://www.bitstamp.net/      Bitcoin price:$184

Both + Postage to UK = $28 = 0.1522 (rounded up)

PM me to confirm and I'll send the BTC and the address
46  Economy / Goods / Re: 1 gram silver bars for sale (Valcambi Silver Bars) on: October 26, 2013, 12:09:52 PM
From 1 bar (1gram) .... up to hundredths (100bars = 100 grams)
How much are you selling the unopened 100g complete bars for (in the UK) ?

When are you going to turn that CloudFlare junk off so people can get to your website ?
49  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [24 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: October 26, 2013, 01:28:28 AM
After around 1 week of solid processing at 10 gh/s via p2pool network I received 0.00337845 BTC; after missing 16 block payouts in a row.
I'm sorry to say this can't be giving me my fair share for my work done on the p2pool network so I have moved off it.

You may have something wrong with your miner setup, or with the pool you're using - how many p2pool 'shares' did you submit ?

There is some element of 'randomness' - but a week of 15Gh/s has found 17 P2Pool-type 'shares' and apart from the 2 days when that miner had found no p2pool-shares, I've been paid on every block found.

50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 25, 2013, 09:35:20 PM
Yes, I updated to FW 0.97, that is when the problem started. Before when it was on 0.95 it was mining at 134GH/s. Since I've updated, its not mining at all.

2 reasons I've seen for them not mining

Simple way to check the mining software is doing is
screen -r
after SSH'ing inb

2 most common problems are:

* Network issues

ssh in a check it can resolve ok, by doing
wget http://google.ie
(then remove the index.html file you just d/loaded)

* Corrupt/Invalid config file

cd /config
cat network.conf
and check it carefully

GBP on Collection rather than BTC ?
52  Economy / Auctions / Re: Selling my KnC Jupiter on: October 24, 2013, 02:12:08 AM
Just fyi at 40btc its impossible to make an ROI
Not when BTC continues to climb like this.
Logic fail :p
If you pay in BTC and mine BTC the value of BTC is irrelevant to the ROI, just the _number_ of BTC mined during it's life (less running costs) !

Are there any instructions on how to manually update just the CGMINER to the latest version by getting it directly from the GIT?
Is there a specific reason that you need the latest version - i.e. does it fix a problem you are having or solve a security issue ?
54  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Just purchased 18 block erupters Buyers remorse... on: October 13, 2013, 01:50:58 AM
6Gh/s for $200 isn't terrible when compared with some deals I see being made, not even talking about pre-orders. You'll break even in a few months.

35$/GH is never going to break-even (taking into account 'running costs').

How hard is it to copy bitcoin
Trivial, It;s why there have been hundreds of poinless & worthless 'clones'

You have the same URL for both 10 and 25 (and although the url says 10, its the page/price for 25)
57  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Redhash by TAV. A new 105 Gh/s ASIC miner. IN STOCK NOW! on: September 30, 2013, 12:25:11 PM
Actually this estimate is incorrect. If you look carefully, the first mining month is estimated as having a diff of 293 million(!) Our units will start shipping on October 2nd, when we will still obviously be at the current difficulty 149 million.
We'll be at (or about-to-be-at) 200 million when they arrive a couple of days later though, and you had to fiddle the electricty rate down to show it getting an ROI :p

This is a big flaw of the mining.thegenesisblock.com calculator...
It also incorrectly assumes the difficulty will remain constant for a whole month - which it never will - so (putting aside the %age growth will eventually slow down argument) generally it paints a far-too-optimistic picture !

Sadly though with the power consumption, even though it's a great design and engineering feat, and major kudos for actually having a product rather than pre-ordered vapourware, anything over 8BTC is unlikely to ever break even for the majority of potential clients.
58  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [14000GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: September 28, 2013, 12:56:00 AM
Change your difficulty - nearest power of 2 of 30% of your hashrate
(so +8 for a LS, +16 for a Single)
Where is this set?
There'a lot of really useful information in the p2pool documentation ...

Quote
It doesn't seem to be an option in p2pool or bitcoin
In your mining software by appending +(n) onto the worker name (address)

Quote
And what is the formula?
The one you quoted Wink

Quote
A Single is 60GH/s so 30% of that is 9
30% of 60 is not 9 for a start - and the numbers for a single and a little-single :p

30% of 60 is 18, nearest 'power of 2' to 18 is 16, so you use 16

So you're a VAT registered business and will be providing a VAT invoice with each unit ?
60  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Linux mining distro for the Raspberry PI - MinePeon on: September 27, 2013, 02:47:54 AM
Apologies if I missed it but is there a way to simply reorder the pools or switch pools easily?
Press P when viewing the miner in SSH Smiley
