42  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why it all went wrong in 2014 - but why 2015 can be better. on: December 30, 2014, 01:19:17 PM
Yep, can agree with the number of shitcoins tarnishing the reputation of cryptocurrency in general. I also agree that the number of pump-and-dump coins is starting to die off now. I believe having a few proper exchange mechanisms in place for merchants to accept them in some cases (i.e. where sales tax and so forth need to be accounted for), a few altcoins will rise above the others.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PPC and XPM - what about those two? how will it turn out? on: December 26, 2014, 04:48:51 AM
I reckon once cold minting is established in the wallet software, PPC will regain a bit of popularity. As for XPM, I suppose that the easier prime numbers have been found and now that newer numbers will get harder and harder to find, it ought to go up accordingly, but might struggle to achieve this.

I think he should include the tuesdays post too in this period.
Hope he pays soon.

Things happen that are unforeseeable and might take longer to resolve. Be a bit patient, at least.
46  Other / Off-topic / Re: Does anyone have a Native Instruments Maschine? on: December 22, 2014, 05:40:46 AM
Yeah I got one a year ago or so, basically had a similar idea to you: I got a bit bored with DJ sets using just a pair of technics, and started using Ableton Live to do live sets, sometimes using a record deck as well. I bought the Maschine to use with Ableton to add a cool live element and so I could play some of my own stuff in front of a crowd.

I found that the Maschine was great fun, but I never actually got round to playing a live set on it (partly due to moving city and not having an oppurtunity to play live much, partly because preparing for a set using Maschine would take many weeks, and there seemed like a lot could go wrong).

I just play around on it at home now mostly, I use it as a VST in Ableton or Fruity Loops for producing, or just plug it in on its own and have a jam, building up a tune on the fly is super fun.

I found it wasn't ideal for production on its own, a little clunky - works much better as an add-on to a DAW. I'd recommend getting one though, there are some cool tutorial vids on youtube with good finger-drumming techniques, after a couple of weeks of practice you can really get some great sounding rhythms out of it. Plus you get the NI Massive synth free with it.

Just bear in mind integrating it into a live set can be tricky, and take a bit of preparation.

Yeah, I've heard that trying to get Maschine and Traktor cooperating nicely in terms of syncing MIDI clocks and so forth can be a bit of a pain. Hopefully a future update to both addresses this. Friend of mine was looking at adding me in to a band in order to drop samples, but got a bit stuck trying to figure out how to do it properly to keep things in time.

Have also seen a couple of videos of a guy called Bass Kleph using it in conjunction with his DJ sets, using them for live remixes of his own songs, so can definitely see some awesome potential in it.

I got a NI AK1 and use Traktor for Dj'ing. I like it but I hate how the plugs are sort of cheap.

I've heard there were issues with the S2 and S4 USB plugs failing on a few people. The X1 Mk2 and Z2 I have have been fairly reliable to date (touch wood).

There is no need to use such equipment in my opinion. Look at Hardwell and the other top DJ's. They turn some low, mid high and few effects just so that they aren't there doing nothing.  Cheesy
I had an S2 and S4, but not a Native Instruments Maschine. Have you tried searching for opinions on Google?

Yeah, reminds me of a video where David Guetta was DJing on a morning TV chat show without the mixer being connected to anything. Tongue

I'm going to ask on DJ Tech Tools as well, but thought I'd canvas a few other places for opinions as well. Couldn't really hurt to get as much feedback in this case.

Hey all,

Another update,

A small family emergency came up and I won't be able to finish the report this evening.

I know a lot of you are waiting for today's payout. In exchange for your patience, we will be counting Sunday's and Monday's posts for this week. We will also temporarily remove the 100 post max, so if you have more than 100 posts you will be paid out for the full weeks. Everyone else will receive a small bonus because of our delay.

Thank you

-AC

Fair enough, thanks for keeping us informed!

Hi all,

I DJ as a hobby and play around with Traktor a lot nowadays (started off on CDJ-400s). Have been toying with getting a Maschine to add some live performance aspects to my sets or help with dabbling with production as a lot of tunes on Beatport and so forth are getting too hit and miss, particularly with breaks music. I've also got my eye on a M-Audio Trigger Finger Pro as an alternative option.

Thoughts?
49  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is GHash.IO is good or bad? on: December 21, 2014, 05:15:32 PM
Would depend on how much in terms of your overall hashrate that you own. For example, I've got about 5.5GH worth of USB miners and they don't really pull much in anymore on GHash.io like they used to. I suppose if you have about 50GH and above, it might be worth more of your time.
50  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's your coin count? on: December 21, 2014, 04:51:31 PM
0.1 tied up in Havelock shares. About the same in Peercoins and not much more in others.
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: --- What is your investment? --- Which coin? on: December 21, 2014, 04:50:11 PM
Bulk of mine is in PPC. Tried and true, and nothing else has really grabbed my attention in terms of being more useful.
52  Economy / Speculation / Re: What would you do with 35 bitcoins? on: December 21, 2014, 12:00:43 PM
Save some (approx 30BTC), use the remainder to purchase a few goodies like a Native Instruments Maschine and a couple of Traktor F1 controllers.
53  Economy / Speculation / Re: If it goes to $275, are you going to keep faith or just give up save the little. on: December 21, 2014, 11:58:43 AM
I'll buy whilst cheap if funds allow.
54  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Atms on: December 20, 2014, 11:54:43 AM
Has been talk of installing one in Perth for some time, but has been delayed by months.
55  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you own bitcoin? on: December 19, 2014, 08:29:55 AM
Yes, though I have a fair bulk of it in mining shares on Havelock to pull in a bit more at the moment. Most of the rest are in Peercoins.
56  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New James Bond leaked script talks about Bitcoin. Is this real? on: December 18, 2014, 10:19:34 AM
I dont own the script but i see this picture in a forum from new James Bond leaked script. Is this real?

If it stopped at "I'll take Bitcoin," it'd be more believable. James Bond is not the overly pretentious and wanky type of character.
57  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10,000 when? on: December 18, 2014, 09:27:35 AM
Mid 2017, IMO. I believe this will be due to a sustained gradual rise rather than the rapid fluctuations we've seen over the past year and a bit, along with other cryptocurrencies absorbing some of the overall market share.
58  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is NOT dead, we're NOT sinking. on: December 18, 2014, 09:25:47 AM
I reckon there might be a bit more of a dip, mainly due to ongoing recirculation of coins resulting from the US Marshall auctions. Reasoning being that there isn't so much of a scarcity of coins as a result and has increased the supply in relation of demand. Could even bottom out to about $250 before climbing back up, IMO.
59  Other / Off-topic / Re: PC Gaming Thread on: December 18, 2014, 09:15:36 AM
Been caning Shadows Of Mordor lately. The whole Nemesis system has been executed pretty well.

Apart from that, usually play a few online matches of BF4 if I don't want to get overly sucked into a game for a few hours at a time. Got a heap of others to play again in my Steam library.
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Proof of ______? on: December 18, 2014, 09:05:41 AM
Proof of node. By this, I mean having a dedicated node running 24/7/365 and the longer it is running, the greater the chance of receiving a reward. Might be better off paired with something else like proof of work or stake, though.
