61.8 so rebounded slightly.  Russia holds a lot of U.S. debt so they can sell some of it to help the ruble.  They could also peg the ruble to the dollar if they wanted to.
42  Economy / Economics / Re: Russian Ruble drops 12% in one day. on: December 16, 2014, 08:56:29 PM
Is ruble fully backed by gold??? I thought only swiss franc has that.

Back in 1999, the Swiss voted 59% for changing their constitution, specifically to remove the 40% gold-backing from the Swiss Franc.
Recently, a referendum to at least require the central bank to hold 20% of its reserves at gold was proposed as a step towards reintroducing a gold standard.  It was defeated with 78% voting against.

I wonder if you had to have an IQ of at least 110 to vote what would of happend.

People love cheap debt when they don't think they have to pay for it.  People become richer and move up the ranks fast on cheap debt.  If they had to go to engineering school, to earn their money, they would not be where they are.  Basically cheap debt and paper backed currencies let the non-working elite have the money and power.  The poorlove it to they can buy cars and not have to pay it back if they want to buy a new cellphone.

I'm surprised Russians arent buying up Bitcoin in a panic...
this

It's dangerous to pick on a wounded bear.
edit: Looks like they are buying BTC at double peak volume:  http://bitcoincharts.com/charts/btceRUR#rg10ztgSzm1g10zm2g25zv

This is my prediction, what is going to happen as slowly the worst inflation countries will start to pick up some bitcoin.  Slowly a small grind will move into a larger movement.  I just wish bitcoin did not have any inflation already.  Compared to 100% inflation, they will experience 5% inflation.  People can handle losing 5% a year they won't revolt, you just get a tea party.   Relative to their own countries currency it will rise.  People in Russia that use bitcoin will be the winners, those that don't well they can pick corn.
44  Economy / Economics / Re: Russian Ruble drops 12% in one day. on: December 16, 2014, 08:44:27 PM

This is not high enough.  The interest rate needs to be over 100%.  If people want to lend money they can.  I am not saying this for Russia, I am saying this for the United States too.  Low interest rates ALWAYS hurts the economy.  What happens is you get people that don't work buying up assets they don't deserve.  Just look at the private equity firms, all they do is use bank debt to buy up companies and somehow they are worth $50 million or more in salary.  What to mortgage reits do?  They lever up with Federal Reserve debt.  The dumbest kid on the block has the nicest car because when he defaults it is the poor banker that did the working man harm.
45  Economy / Economics / Re: A Resource Based Economy on: December 16, 2014, 07:12:07 AM
Suppose you have a mile of fence to paint.  According to a liberals, it is good for you if you start to use corporate tools you will be labeled as a corporatist.  The greedy corporation selling you stuff and making a profit.  You will be continually taxed to the point no matter what you do you are still spending the same amount of time to paint the fence.  Thus a resource based economy is an economy without the communists, democrats, socialists, progressives, marxists.  It is an individualistic based republic, anarchy, where capitalism is taken as good.

In summary, I just wanted the fence painted to watch the football game and go to Europe.  But, the liberals hurt me.
46  Economy / Economics / Re: Russian Ruble drops 12% in one day. on: December 16, 2014, 12:30:22 AM
This is because of oil prices.

Maybe.  Oil industries make up a substantial part of the Russian GDP (13.9% in 2012).

Most likely government depended on oil revenues and spent anyways without those revenues.  Typical liberal mentality.
47  Economy / Economics / Re: Are investment in US stock market an investment in oil? on: December 16, 2014, 12:16:39 AM
If the US economy is based in consumerism (i.e. everyone telling us to get out shopping) then are investments in the US stock market essentially an investment in oil?  If oil drops what happens to US stock market?

I ask because I've been questioning my ecosystem lately.  Do my values all line up?  If I'm of anti-consumer mindset, should I be invested in the US stock market?  As a US citizen, what does a lack of faith in my country's economy say?

The signs to go all in on bitcoin are high these days.

There are many stocks on the stock market that are involved in the energy sector, however in the United States oil is just a commodity. Thus, if you decide to take an airplane trip, the profit should be higher for the airlines since the fuel is cheaper.  They may have to lower ticket prices to compete.  If they do that stock prices might drop 5%, but if things are 10% cheaper the investor wins.

Russians might chose to trust bitcoin over the Ruble, if we can increase users there, bitcoin will rise and become more solid of a currency.

That might be the future as more government ry to rip off their citizens, the citizens will slowly move to bitcoin building a critical mass.  From that point, bitcoin will rise in value every year.
48  Economy / Economics / Russian Ruble drops 12% in one day. on: December 15, 2014, 10:23:25 PM
Russian Ruble over the past 100 years or so has lost 10 to the 14th power in purchasing power.  CNBC says the oil companies are issuing debt and buying dollars with it.  The only problem is our central bank is not that honest either.  This is the big plus for bitcoin.  Bitcoin is limited to 21 million coins.   All  bitcoin needs is more or the same number of users than last year.  The ruble also shows the failure of gold and silver backed currencies.  Through most of its history the ruble was gold and silver backed.  The reality is those pegs or exchange rates can be changed when the government or banks need money.  The only true gold currency is gold itself.

In June the number of rubles per dollar was 34.  Today it hit 65.6.  Thus Russia is in a period of hyperinflation, a 100% inflation rate over a year.  Hyperinflations are not something to hurt your neighbor with many Russians are losing their life savings and when that happens it can lead to evil like Adolf Hitler.

Furthermore for the U.S. to compete worldwide, they may have to cut wages which is not going to happen.  Thus, there could be problems in the U.S. especially when many are considering raising the minimum wage next year.

Any comments?
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We're developing a brand new/better coin, and we want you to join us on: December 06, 2014, 07:16:10 AM
1. No mining.  Mining is a scam and a sign of a corrupt coin.  It is like a federal reserve for the coin.

2. Transaction fee that can lower over time automatically.  However it should be about $.01 to keep the block chain small.  Transactions should be deleted as the community has to deal with the large block chain.

3.  A 100% premine is the only moral coin.  If you create 1,000,000 coins you can sell 1000 for a BTC.  Thus you profit 1000 BTC and you can pay developers and other artists.  Make sure if you offer a bonty that it is good for 10 years.  Thus if someone make a block explorer, pay them monthly.  maybe .1 btc a month.  Also pay to have it listed on the exchanges maybe 2 btcs per exchange.

4. You might also have to pay for people to keep nodes open.  Thus should come from the 1000 BTC initially.

I was thinking a good name might be sol coin for this solar system.

Bump up the transaction fee to 0.01 to clear out all the bloat.

I was more interested in seeing the type of people and how they respond to this question on bitcointalk.  On most sites I would get dozens of Obama and Bush supporters calling me a troll or insulting me or something.  Some commie would  want a reference or make me calculate it out.   2 out of 3 who are probably more free than me responded.  I like it here.  Really learned from the 1st response.
53  Other / Politics & Society / If government takes taxes by force, can we force them to work. on: December 01, 2014, 12:32:10 PM
If you look at the profits of the average corporation, the government gets about $10 in free money for every $1 the shareholders get.  Fine.  However I think we should make them (teachers, professors, recipients of government cash) cut brush or work in nursing homes and average of 20 hours a week.  Can you imagine Obama and Biden actually doing work?  That would be laughs.

this shit looks biased to me
Is this the last bit of shilling you can squeez out of this ripple pump and dump or what?

I don't own ripple.  I don't understand ripple.  I don't know how anyone can trust anyone or anything.  We can all trust the federal reserve and we can trust congress and we can also trust the banks.  But they have constantly let us down over the years and centuries.  There were only a few periods in history 1860 to 1910 and the dutch golden age that shows deflation and or full reserve banking actually helps the people.
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best year over year price change in coins. on: November 29, 2014, 06:38:28 PM
one year ago you could buy 1M NXT for 1BTC on the open market proof here

at current prices that would be worth 51.9 BTC, i'd say NXT has been the best investment opportunity by far.

EDIT: and i mean exactly 1 year ago, november 29th.

thanks I did not have a graph.  But was that an open exchange to open exchange from a site like cryptsy?

NXT .0000008 .0000520 = 65x

I will add it to the top as it does appear to be traded.
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best year over year price change in coins. on: November 29, 2014, 06:32:13 PM
So a one year experience is an indication for the whole future? This is far too short sighted. The main indication we can see from this is that coins with the attributed you have listed have performed great as a short term pump, or ponzi schemes (obviously) . You could have included the cool feature cryptos such as NXT and Bitshares as well, then again they have not been around for long enogh. A deflationary currency, or asset is really not the best concept since sliced bread. In fact a deflationary currency will lead to ultimate monopoly of currency units (as we currently see in Ripple and IXCoin). Since value is thought to increase over time simply holding on to coins without using it as a means of exchange for services or goods would be more profitable.
A premined coin with no block reward means that acquiring currency requires a centralized approach towards distributing currency units, insider knowledge is therefore privileged. Deleting the transaction fee is also a non viable option.

mining is a centralized approach.  Virtually all the mining fees probably go to top 25 miners.  Usually they have the best equipment and can block and use their know how to gain more coins than their fellow users.  Mining is disgusting and should be ended.  Premine is much better.  The author and use the funds to put the coins on the exchanges, and people have to buy their way in.  For example 1 BTC = 10,000 of the coin.  If you sell 1 million coins, that is 100 BTC or $40000 which can pay for a lot of stuff.  It can also be used to rebuy the coin.  Thus relative to bitcoin you could never lose.
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best year over year price change in coins. on: November 29, 2014, 01:23:36 PM
Of the largest coins

Ripple
Dogecoin
Litecoin

All should be sold for obvious reasons.  Ripple requires trust. Dogecoin is inflato coin with bloated block.  Litecoin is just another pump and dump.  All other coins have no software maintence even ixcoin, which does not have a transaction fee thus subject to chain spam attack.  Even bitcoin has become bloated because they left the transaction fee too low for too long.

In summary still waiting for a deflation coin.
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Best year over year price change in coins. on: November 29, 2014, 06:17:04 AM
You can find this info from coinmarketcap.com  note almost all coins are related to bitcoin (except bitcoin which is related to the $).  I guess it has been a pretty horrible for all these inflation coins.  Click on the coin and look at the 365 day chart find the beginning and end price by highlighting the coin.

November 28th, 2013 - November 28, 2014 bold up in price
bitcoin $973.13 $366.21
ripple .0000276 .0000355
litecoin .0369 .00963 ouch
peercoin .00601 .00201
feathercoin .000576 .0000772 ouch
quark .000161 .0000135 ouch
primecoin .00574 .000373 ouch
ixcoin .0000988 .000104
novacoin .0242 .00183 ouch
infinitecoin .00000011 .00000001 ouch
NXT .0000008 .0000520 = 65x however on December 30, 2013 it was around .0000976 and has dropped about 50% since then.

ripple, NXT, and ixcoin are the only 3 that have increased relative to bitcoin.  The reason is they are deflation coins.  The future are deflating coins.

No block reward
Delete the transaction fee
POS or merged mined.
100% premine sold on the exchange.

59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Proof that Ripple numbers are manipulated by Coinmarketcap, there is no boom! on: November 29, 2014, 04:00:22 AM
Marketcap is worthless.  What should be tracked is 1 year change in price.
60  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Cops immediately shot a 12 year old holding a toy gun without warning. on: November 27, 2014, 02:20:11 PM
They should make the law if you shoot someone you lose your job without pay or pension.  Thus, the officer does not go to jail, however we never have to feed them.  Money makes people think twice.
