42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 17, 2016, 01:42:04 AM
I really want to give credit to Monero for holding it's value during this Bitcoin rise. $8.50 at the moment.
Looking at the USD charts, it has been pegged linearly since the reversal of the DNM selloff. The BTC rise isn't shaking off XMR as it usually does to alts.

Anyone have a guess as to why?
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Poll on Claymore's CryptoNote GPU Miner on: December 17, 2016, 12:09:42 AM
Am I too new to vote for the poll? Can't seem to find a way to vote.

I am having a few issues with my twin MSI 480's on my main PC. Would love some new support! Exciting news for XMR in the horizon SOONTM.

Also, anyone having some issues, I found that f.lux causes issues with my mouse stuttering every few seconds. Try disabling f.lux if you have the same problems with his current v9.1 miner. My guess is that GPU utilization of Claymore's miner is conflicting with f.lux's GPU usage. Of course, this is expected as GPU usage is high by any GPU miner.
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's CryptoNote GPU Miner v9.6 on: December 17, 2016, 12:03:14 AM
I anyone having problems with this miner on a PC that is used for basic browsing? The miner is a bit outdated so I understand it won't be perfect for the 480's.

My PC is running:
6700K CPU (5% Usage)
16GB of RAM (30% Usage)
2x MSI 480 on Dwarfpool (100% Usage, Stock Cards)

The problem is, every once in a while, the hashate of both of my cards will drop from 700 to 500 and stay there. I have to restart my miner a couple of times and it will jump back to 700.

I also have issues randomly with errors:

Oh yeah, I also discovered that f.lux causes issues at times with the PC with the miner running. I assume it has to do with too much GPU usage from Claymore's miner (Expected when running at 100% utilization). My mouse would freeze up for a half second every couple of seconds. Just a note for anyone running f.lux with their PC.

EDIT:

I had taken f.lux out of the equation fairly recently so my guess may be that f.lux might have caused the issues. I will try without f.lux for a bit and see if that sorts the problem. Will leave my post up in case someone else runs into the same problem and stumbles upon it for future reference. Took me about a week to realize it  Roll Eyes

WARNING TO ALL POOL OPERATORS/INVESTORS

The upcoming fork will make ALL previous daemon versions obsolete.
ETH-like disaster in the making. One client. Many bugs. Scroll through #monero-devs  chat logs for proof.

Censorship on #monero-devs , question dev work and get banned.

Wouldn't the pool operators simply upgrade their clients with maybe a little downtime?

May I ask what the "ETH-like disaster" is?

Thanks.

I heard ZClassic did the same thing that you were trying to get accomplished. Already on Bittrex and has a website with a tiny community.

My guess is that funding is an issue and hasn't had the "boost" to get going.

Why not help those guys out?

47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: BASIC: One GPU different currencies on: December 07, 2016, 06:42:05 AM
For the big coins, Claymore has a dual miner that can mine 2 currencies at 1 time. As for GPU, one GPU gives you the capability of mining any coin. How much you will make is determined by the GPU.

I want to ask information Monero ON WITH wallet Jaxx
Release Date wallet Jaxx how to review Monero ??

Jaxx is having a hard time integrating Monero harder than they thought no release date. You may have the official GUI first at this rate.

I'm no expert but it seems like fluffyponyza is working with Jaxx. To be honest, it doesn't make sense for BOTH Jaxx and Team Monero not to work together with their Monero expert teams to bring out a wallet around the same time. Jaxx of course will have less features besides storing and transferring due to the nature of their Jaxx wallet and company purpose.

Waiting on new news.
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LTC @0.004 - whats up on: December 05, 2016, 07:24:36 AM
Some litecoin whale decided to dump a lot litecoin onto the market, all at once.  Someone needed money.  That's bout the only real explanation,  everything else is jist guessing.

This is most likely what is happening. Litecoin was a great coin store your money in something stable (USD value). Supposedly the Chinese are big on it. Big dump happening and the market following. I doubt it will crash but not much adoption in terms of outside of crypto.

Maybe Bitcoin pump is causing dump of Litecoin savings to get in on the action?
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 05, 2016, 01:56:46 AM

I saw an interesting post on Monero Reddit and really thought into why and came to the conclusion that maybe they are preparing for high volume trading at a future date. Doesn't make sense to add Monero yet to their tiny list of available coins.

My guess:

I could see it get higher than the DNM pump IF there are no major issues found. The Ethereum pump ended because of the DAO hack and then the string of problems afterwards. I'm sure Ethereum will be fine after and will explode with future releases.

In the mean time, this looks like Quarter 1 of 2017 will be Monero's time to shine assuming the wallet releases soon and nothing goes wrong with RingCT implementation.

Why did bitfinex add it?  Because it has very high trading volume.  XMR and ETH are the 2 consistent high volume coins.  I would imagine that bitfinex wants to add margin trading for XMR when they can.  Polo currently has the XMR action but bitfinex has the fiat on ramp.

And as hyc said, the price effect of the release of the GUI and RingCT should be much less than that of the original 2 DNMs.

XMR hasn't seen this kind of trading volume since the pump 2 months ago. Before that, Monero's trading volume has been <100k. If you are right and after the wallet release and RingCT there isn't much to be expected besides a small pump, there really won't be much for Monero in terms of trading so we should be going back to <500K volume and probably knocked back down a few ranks for marketcap.

XRP has a consistent trading volume around 500K so XRP would be a great addition to Bitfinex, but they haven't added it yet.

Makes me think that there is a lot in store for Monero for 2017. At least in expected trading volume.

As I can see today, order book is full of emptiness at Bitfinex lol. What a crap of news to try to recover bear trend.

So the Bitfinex pump lasted 4 days and now it's back where it started and heading down. Question is, will the people be fooled as easily next time?

First off, thank you for your site! It looks amazing and works wonderfully.

I have a quick question. What made you want to add ZClassic? It seems that you have all the big names but ZClassic is so small. Thanks!

Probably current profitability of the coin.. But who knows for how long will that last. In my opinion Zclassic have better coin (copy of zcash without foundation fee) BUT it lacks developer team which is really shit in their case so i don't think coin will last too long anyway...

Correct. Our main motive was the fact that it is currently profitable, therefore useful to our users. We also have Ethereum Classic so it seemed only fair!

Thank you for the response. I see ZClassic as intriguing but a tiny community backing it. I hope it takes off!

54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / 2017: The Year of Anonymous Coins on: November 21, 2016, 10:43:28 PM
Monero, Dash, Komodo, Zcash, Zclassic, ShadowCoin, Zerocoin, VCash, etc...

2016 was the year of the rise and recognition of the profitability of altcoins and summer of ICOs but people are tiring out.

Most of the altcoin ICOs have gone nowhere and have no real use cases until they actually deliver on their development and it could be a long time until they get a fully working product delivered that is actually used. Even still, with all the money raised by their ICOs, you have to think.... Who will really use them? Why is the ICO's idea worth millions of dollars?

Pumping and dumping was great in 2016 and a lot of people lost and a lot of people won but the amount of money sucked from people willing to lose is growing thin. The pumps are getting weak, people are getting smarter and most newer coin releases after an ICO are sitting close to the ICO value because no one wants to sell because no one wants to buy. Volume on exchanges is decreasing at an alarming rate all across the board.

Bitcoin is the grandfather of the blockchain scene. It is getting outdated in terms of technology, but it is tried and true and works without any bells and whistles. It is a coin that ACTUALLY gets used on a global scale daily by the mass. The largest use case of Bitcoin is online commerce and transfer of value. Most of the time, the simple way of using Bitcoin is perfectly fine on websites but most people do not want to reveal their tracks or hide their balances. This is where people realize crypto's biggest use case is for most people and take it a step further by adding anonymity.

This year (2017), many people will pull their money from worthless alts with lagging development or a fake purpose. The community will finally leave them in the dust. Watching Poloniex this year, the volume of trading on over 50% of the coins listed has gone down to less than 10 BTC a day. Poloniex is full of bots so you can't even rely on those being the true numbers.

Something I have noticed that makes me realize the money is in anonymous coins in that no one ever gets hyped when someone speaks of any other coin's purpose. Everyone flips out when news hits about how development is  happening in anonymous coins. This shows what people really care about and what excites people about blockchain tech. With this potential excitement like a tank of gasoline, it only takes one successful development's spark to ignite the rush of money flowing in. Once use cases start emerging, money will flow in from other altcoins and fiat, pumping the price "To The Moon".

ZCash has had a lot of hype and Monero's development is finally seeing some light. In reality, blockchain technology is fascinating and bulletproof, but for the average Joe (IMPORTANT! Who will spend money on Crypto and bring money in!), the blockchain tech's real use and purpose is TRANSFER OF VALUE. A lot of money came in from the average Joe when the great Bitcoin hype was about how Bitcoin will be fiat's greatest enemy.

The next great hype will come from the succeeding anonymous coin that will work alongside Bitcoin to transfer value across the globe anonymously. Be careful in 2017. Take a long hard look at your positions and really ask yourself if you are being sucked into holding up the value of a coin by holding due to a false purpose of that coin. Blockchain tech is great, but doesn't always beat centralized methods and a lot of coins are creating solutions for problems that don't really exist.

DISCLAIMER:
I am a trader and watch trends and news. This is the sum of all of my experience. It may not be correct, but I wanted to share my thoughts and would like your opinions and feedback on what 2017 may be like for the crypto scene as a whole (NOT trading advice).

My current position is all in Bitcoin in a cold wallet because trading has been slowing down and it is getting harder to make money. My realization is that pumping and dumping has created a false sense of purpose for most coins. With disappointing profits for Q4 2016, it would be interesting to see if most people will be going back to Bitcoin. I sense a great altcoin "winter" coming with only coins with a purpose staying alive because money will flow from worthless coin dumps.
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ICONOMI - Fund Management Platform on: November 16, 2016, 07:47:12 AM
Being in the trading game for so long, I have realized with every pump, there is a big dump so people can take profits then wait till price drops to buy in lower. ICONOMI has a HUGE outlook, but the product hasn't been released yet and we still have a long ways. This pump is from the AMA on Reddit. You simply have to ride the waves by trading or HODL. We may be looking to drop for a bit for the winter BTC pump but will most likely rise again toward the end of the year as we get closer to release.

I may be wrong, but since the AMA is over, we might be headed down for a bit then back up as new news emerges over time. I will stick to team HODL Smiley
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v6.0 on: November 16, 2016, 04:11:35 AM
So according to ethman i see 12000 h/s on my rigs but on coinmine.pl zclassic pool i only see 10k never even seen the hashrate get close to what my rigs actually say

i did not have that issue on pool.mn , could it be a latency issue or is coinmine stealing hashes ?
Coinmine.pl for me is like all others... It fluctuates but rarely matches miner.  The worker info never matches the sol rate of the main screen.

If you are looking at the average hashing rate, then you might not be factoring in the Dev Fee time.

What mikhan said...

These cost a few bucks, but they have made my life infinitely easier when managing multiple rigs remotely: http://www.ebay.com/itm/0ship-HDMI-EDID-DDC-Plug-Headless-Linux-Windows-Mac1920x1200-emulator-dummy-USA-/191567271934?hash=item2c9a4c97fe:g:bcgAAOSw~OdVb-7m

Sure you can do the resister short trick to simulate a monitors presence, but you are still stuck with low resolution. These are well worth the expense if you have more than a few rigs. He offers discounts on bulk orders, but you need to message him.

I second this seller's dummy plug. I have the HDMI version (DVI available) and it works great! No issues and worth the cost to avoid tiny resolutions on Teamviewer. The plug came cracked for me, but has no noticeable effect on the PC. Seems like he 3D printed the plastic.

Any custom rom for MSI RX480 8GB recommended for mining ETH,
now I got 26Mh/s

I wish to have 30Mh/s

I'm using the ROM from the site below on 2 cards and one hashes at 28.8 and the other at 29.3. Works great!
rodrirui copied the values from boysie's popular RX 480 reference rom.

Here are the tools to flash your cards:

Quote

The command prompt method is preferred (ATI Flash) because Windows has a lot of processing going on and there is the slight possibility that a program or service could interrupt the ROM flashing, resulting in a bricked card. If you brick your RX 480, there are many guides on how to unbrick your card.

This one is for the Reference card and I have never taken off the backplate of the MSI RX 480, but hopefully it is similar. I recommend finding a comfirmed guide for the MSI RX 480 before you start. I just went ahead and did it with ATIWINFLASH without a problem by killing most of the running apps.
