Have you ever lost Bitcoin?

If that happened, why?   Was it your own fault,  or were you scammed?

I lost Bitcoins and Altcoins before.  It was definately my fault due to lossing the passphrase.  I was fortunate that Windows had a feature where I could recall a file back to a state before creating the passphrase.  After that incident, I made multiple copies of the passphrase, private keys, and other important information.
42  Other / Off-topic / Re: Any Legit ways to make money online? on: November 09, 2016, 06:23:11 AM
My parents have just let me know that they wont be paying for my rent next semester at school so I will need to make up the money. I will be getting a job but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas where I could make up the other 150-200 a month I need to pay for rent and food. I would prefer no bullshit survey websites that pay 10 cents for an hour survey, but I guess all ideas are appreciated. It needs to be something I can do in my freetime since I will be balancing school and a job. Thanks in advance!
If you really need to pay for their studies, then perhaps you need to find a real job, because the Internet is not so stable earnings. Probably many students work as waiters at night or couriers, and it's good they do.
Being a bartender is not too bad, I do this on the side while I was going through college.  If you're good with the drinks and quick wit with the jokes, you can easily make the money for the rent.  The other ideas you can do is sell platelets twice a week.  50-100 per a donation adds up over time.  You can also be a part of a case study group.  Paraxel did a few on sleeping patterns.  Sometimes you can bank 2500-3000 depending on the qualifications and duration.
43  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the best investment holding your Bitcoin? on: November 09, 2016, 02:28:56 AM
I would like to say hello first off, I am new to these forums as a member, but I do often enjoy browsing on my lunch break.

I see a lot of people like to invest in other coins in particular IPO/ICO. But with the volatility of Bitcoin is this not the best investment choice in itself? Keeping your Bitcoins which have a higher value and can fluctuate more? Especially with the recent halving, I can only see the value going up.

Do you see any need to invest elsewhere or is it greedy? What are your thoughts on this?
IMHO, the reason I am looking into investing other coins along with Bitcoin is to see other projects create new ideas and support to society.  It is amazing how new innovations are coming out of the impact of Bitcoin especially blockchain platforms and initiatives.  I looked through all the altcoin projects back in August to create a deduction of which one I would start my foot into investing altcoins.  Don't get me wrong, there are so many projects coming out, but I am limited on funding to where I should start prior to believing in only holding Bitcoin.  I might expand the diversity of portfolio in the future.  As of now, it is sort of experimental for me.

Which one your smartphone?
-apple
-samsung S7
-oneplus
-asus
-acer
-xiaomi

I use a combination of a few of these phones due to their capabilities and features.  Apple has some limitations on accepting a few altcoin wallets but the altcoins that are available are implemented to a somewhat secured device.  Andriod is not to bad for other coins.  I might collect devices for this purpose to having a variety of wallets copied and placed in secure locations offline.
45  Other / Off-topic / Re: How much do you earn per day on: November 08, 2016, 09:19:40 PM
If I am patient and persistent in my scheduling I can earn 1-1.50 daily depending on my actions.  I have starting researching other forms of earning so in due time I might try to tap other sources for reference to build a cashflow stream of passive earnings through tier levels programs.  I tried the faucets but things may change with their sponsors and of course if they are using micro transaction services might change my earning ratios.

In the mean time I do unrelated collections such as recycling and a few side jobs to build the capital to exchange into Bitcoin whenever possible.
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: November 08, 2016, 06:48:50 PM
i feel like strat will be over 20k soon.
In due time.  We are half way there with the gradual gains.  A few more plans behind the scenes may lead a few more pushes into the market cap before the New Year.  There are a lot of projects out there, but this one is the type that has a positive long term guarantee.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: November 08, 2016, 02:03:06 PM
Congratulation all we just broke 10k Cheesy! And this week is just starting Wink.
We might reach 10.5-11k next week or even sooner.  The excitement to hear the announcements coming soon is more positive news on the table.  The gradual gains is good at a reasonable pace rather than extremes.
48  Other / Off-topic / Re: When and why did you start using Bitcoin? on: November 08, 2016, 10:21:40 AM
I only started using Bitcoin two years ago, however I heard about it since 2009 from a friend that was purchasing some items through silk road.  He was into pharmaceutical which took his life from taking something that he assumed was not really the right drug.  At first I was only hearing the negative side of Bitcoin until I created discussions on my online classes.  It broke the barrier seeing how Bitcoins can be used to invest in projects leading to implementation of blockchain technology to healthcare and other businesses.  A lightbulb hit me to use what I learned from my business classes to research further into a different areas of how Bitcoin was used in society beyond currency.  For the longest time I was just reading the posts on the forums and later got more involved indirectly over time.  I finally decided it was time to create an account on BBT and here I am discussing when and why I started to use Bitcoin to invest into projects that may change how the public may see the use of cryptocurrency in a positive way.
49  Economy / Economics / Re: If you were in desperate need for money.... on: November 08, 2016, 09:39:23 AM
If you were in desperate need for money / Bitcoins, what would you do? How to get it, earn it, whatw are your solutions and experiences? I wonder what people are ready to do when money is the problem.

I used to donate platelets & was a test subject for a sleep study for Paraxel.  Sometimes case studies can give you a debit card with compensation of up to 3,000 for commiting to the requirements and trying out trial medications.  I think I only got 850 for the sleep study and 50.00 for the platelets.  Twice a week for platelets I believe which adds up over time.  Being a case study subject sometimes can be a race to be a participant if the compensation is good.  The regular blood donation was okay when they gave out 2 free AMC movie tickets per a donation which can be resold.  Ensure that you eat healthy, hemocrit levels are normal and a good amount of sleep before a donation.
50  Other / Off-topic / Re: Online games! on: November 08, 2016, 09:05:03 AM
Guys post here what are online games you played!

The best online game i played is. RF Online games (MMORPG).

What is yours?

I have played Ultima Online for the longest time since T2A.  I finally decided to leave two years ago since most of the servers are barely active with players as it was back in the mid 90s.  There was an old online java game called Dragon's Court that was interesting along with Adventure Quest (sword of awe).  I tried a seven swords but the servers shut down a few years ago.  Everquest was okay, and War of Warcraft was fun.  Then I tried Asobimo's other game Avabel which was fun until my son was born.  After that, my gaming time slowly diminished.
51  Other / Off-topic / Re: Homeless man, Veteran, finds 30k BTC on hard drive! on: November 08, 2016, 08:08:07 AM
This was an entertaining story, however, it seems more of a fairytale than true.  It would be nice to find a hard drive with lost bitcoins.  Even better if this story was created into a pop-up book.
52  Economy / Economics / Re: How would you double $100,000 safely? on: November 08, 2016, 07:18:34 AM
It may be a challenge but if you apply the funds into a bank that has a decent interest and a cash bonus, it is a good start to build the financial journey to doubling the $100,000 funding.  While it is earning a small chunk of interest, check if there is a tier reward system in place which rewards individuals to open an investment account with a bonus.

While you are waiting for the interest, take part into jobs that may require little to establish such as pet car/walking, bartending (tips are good...when you're working the main or front bar), tutor, tour guide, repair guy, etc.

Sometimes you may be lucky to get between 750-1000 in tips for bartending...72 weeks in a year...thats already almost 54,000-72,000 a year from the tips.
Add in walking dogs in the morning for a couple 12-14 bucks an hour and you're almost at doubling the money.
If you have elderly neighbors you can add in some service for yard care biweekly.  Maybe even do a blog or vlog with excess time.

As you get closer to reaching the goal, it is optional to ease up the workload and put more effort towards passive income gains.
To minimize the use of the $100,000 there is good ole fashion walking, public trasportation, and even car pooling.
Libraries are free resources with internet access if you beginning the journey.
Take advantage of coupons.
Even a little bit of recycling can add up, 32-35 cans is around a pound.  And some areas reimburse for bottles.

After 365 days of doing some of these things, it is possible to double the $100,000 with motivation and effort.  The next part would be filing the taxes.
53  Other / Off-topic / Re: If i give you 10 BTC what will you do? on: November 08, 2016, 06:46:48 AM
I want ask anyone if i give you 10 Btc what will you do. because i want investment but i have no any good idea to invest it (except gambling) but i don't like dambling. So i want ask you viewS.

I would invest into long term investment projects that I beliee may have a potential value on the ROI based on their business plan, white paper, and development.  Once the projects have created passive income, slowly earn the money back with the equivilant sum to earn more.
54  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you still believe in bitcoin on: November 08, 2016, 06:40:25 AM
I believe Bitcoin has created a foundation for new developing projects opportunity to share their products & services through the similar concepts of Bitcoin.
55  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you do when you are happy? on: November 08, 2016, 06:31:44 AM
When I am happy, keeping the moment simple as possible and enjoy the feeling with family.
56  Economy / Economics / Re: Passive Income on: November 08, 2016, 06:21:01 AM
According to me passive income needs more efforts than that of for active income but it pays more and in very attractive way (without doing anything at that moment). Automation has always impressed me and when it comes to income, I have tried to apply it on my website (via adsense ads) and even on my youtube channel. Although I was not active since long time, I am getting some earnings in adsense account (and the reason is my previous efforts).

That is certainly true. Since passive income is more of like automated money going towards your bank or Bitcoin account, you can just rest assured that you will earn money while just sitting back and relax (most of the times). With cryptocurrencies, you can make income completely automated with the use of many methods like masternodes, coin staking, smart contracts (like Ethereum doublers), and many more. Just my opinion.

By the way, now that you mentioned Adsense, I've became interested into making money with it, and use that towards building my passive income. No matter what the earnings would be with it, at least it would help in conjunction with my other forms of income.  Grin

Yes passive income is interesting thing I ever came across.
You are looking for trying adsense, that’s great, I would say try to go with video content because as of now I am getting more response to my video (7 videos on youtube) content (and revenue too) as compared to my text content (30+ articles on my blog). Yes, I completely understand that you might get different results but still I am giving my two cents. Good luck Smiley

I would love to go back into blogging and incorporate passive income programs to at least pay off the expenses into the content.  The blog site does need a renovation since I have not been active the past year, but this is good information to apply to it when it is relaunced.  This is really good two cents.
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: November 08, 2016, 06:08:04 AM
Only 1.2 million STRAT for sale!

Who will sell this diamond at so low price? Must be noobs or day traders, big whales are staking, believe me.   Wink

You don't need to be surprised, remember the Bitcoin pizza story
It can bring in some publicity to altcoins at the low values if there was a repeat of the pizza story.  It would be nice to be the delivery guy that got some of the 10,000 BTC tip.

I see stratis is next generation of bitcoin, that is why they implements NBitcoin on strat
There will be drops every now and then, but to see STRAT reaching new limits is exciting.  It is enticing to see other new projects becoming available at this time, but STRAT is a nice project retain for long term in an investment portfolio.
58  Other / Off-topic / Re: How many Bitcoins are lost forever? on: November 08, 2016, 06:02:00 AM
I know it is a tricky question. What do you think, how many Bitcoins are lost forever and are 'out of the network' by lost private keys?
I agree it is a tricky question.  It can be a few million, however this like a few million people leaving loose change under a seat or tossing coins into a wishing.  Lossing private keys can happen even if you are very careful, a misstyped phrase or key is a lot of frustration if there was a lot of Bitcoins stored into the wallet.  It would be important to have a therapeutic support system for those that have lost a few thousand Bitcoins.
59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin for signature campaign? on: November 08, 2016, 05:39:06 AM
In my mind, signature campaign is an easy way to get started and earn some coins, but most campaigns are only open to high ranked users. some campaigns however, do accept newbies, like me. and i have noticed that most of those campaigns are about a new altcoin, and pays in that certain type of altcoin, which requires me to get a wallet of theirs. Any thoughts on whether its a good idea to participate in those campaigns or potential riskes?
I agree with you that it is a good start especially with individuals that like to put their foot into the door about cryptocurrency and other projects.  As mentioned there is the risk of time and effort to pursue an altcoin, however it is good to put the effort on research before applying oneself to the commitment.  Personally, I used to just read the threads and was hesitant to reply in BBT, however, it feels reassurring thoughts can lead to applications of ideas as a contribution to the community.  IMHO, it wouldn't hurt to participate on other compaigns, just do the background research behind the project.
