I don't think anyone's expecting bitbar to take off anyway. CHNCoin maybe. Bitbar not a chance.

This makes me wonder. Why are people jump in coins that are 100% clones of litecoin but when a coin with something different is announced nobody is giving it any chance? Why this fascinations with litecoin clones? Like feathercoin and this shady chinese coin.

It’s pretty simple, everybody hopes to be part of the "next big thing" like BTC. If you have mined a few thousand LTC at launch and held them until now, you’re already pretty well off.
That’s why everybody jumps on the train now whenever any new and shady clone currency with changed variables is announced here on the forums. Fascinating to watch, although I feel sorry for the people that will be left holding the bags when the altcoins inevitably crumble to pieces.

Take Feathercoin as an example, 1:1 LTC clone with tweaked parameters, shady launch with far too low difficulty just like this one, yet it has 7478 BTC trading volume on BTC-e at the time of writing. That’s $815000 out of thin air. The "copypaste-devs" are probably laughing all the way to the bank now. Crazy.

I’m sure the FTC devs discretely sent a couple thousand to btc-e to get them to accept their joke currency.

Well then, who will be the first to make a pool for it? Or do we declare this DOA?
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BitBar New POW-POS scrypt CryptoCoin on: May 02, 2013, 07:41:18 PM
So basically if you weren’t mining for the first couple of minutes, all you get are the scraps of the cake?
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BitBar New POW-POS scrypt CryptoCoin on: May 02, 2013, 07:14:08 PM
my definition of premining is creating a new currency and mining it before making it public, thus denying people the chance to be a part of the "landrush".

Anyway, I set up my cgminer according to the thread but all I get is "new block detected" messages. No actual blocks mined or shares accepted, even though it shows the GPUs running a the regular scrypt kh/s.

I’m interested, but I’m worried about the shipping from Switzerland. Tax and customs from CH always gave me hell.
Would it be possible to pick up the order in Switzerland?

I’m declaring interest for 100 chips

Where are you located? I'm in Italy and I'm thinking the same thing about shipping.

Austria, but since I will use the chips for burnin's PCBs, I think the swiss tax/customs won’t affect me anyway.
51  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Work in progess] Burnins Avalon Chip to mining board service on: April 19, 2013, 07:15:03 PM
Q:
Can I fly over to pick up boards and pay them on site ?

I’m also interested in this, but I’d drive instead of fly there.

To recap, sending you an order via email now is pointless because orders aren’t open yet, right? You may want to clarify that in the OP.

Sorry about your losses and good luck getting your money back. I’m surprised he didn’t ask you to pay in BTC.

In Swedish, svensk can mean both the adjective "Swedish" and the noun "Swede" while tiger can mean either the noun for the animal or the present tense of the verb tiga ("to keep silent"), giving the poster the double meaning "a Swedish tiger" or "a Swede keeps silent". The phrase is comparable in use to "loose lips sink ships" in the USA.

BFL probably bought them all so they can finally build their miners

That thought crossed my mind more than once… I wouldn’t be surprised to see their "high density-high power" products use Avalon chips with the description discretely sanded off.  Roll Eyes

What is the code for this coin? FRC is taken so maybe FTC?

FC, it says so in the client.  Cheesy
