41  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to obtain your shares from Ciphermine on: March 04, 2014, 07:09:17 AM
A new exchange called http://ciphertrade.com is launching. You'll be able to access your shares shortly.

PS: You can try the beta of ciphertrade at http://beta.ciphertrade.com

So do you know how it is that I will have access to the shares I bought months ago?
Will having control of the Litecoin wallet where I receive my dividend payments be enough
to find my shares? When is ciphertrade going to be completed?

Typically control of the dividend-address is sufficient to prove that you own the shares. Also, CipherMine should have the emailaddress you were registered with on LTC-Global / BTC-TC before it went down.

Thank I hope you are correct Smiley

We should have known that is nothing new. Have you heard of Baidu? Or what about the fact that superior western websites like Youtube are not allowed in China.

If you recall a few months ago litecoin global shut down and some of us didn't sell our
shares of Ciphermine. Does anybody know how we can gain access to our Ciphermine shares and sell them?
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: mining coins on CPU and gpu on: January 31, 2014, 11:24:33 AM
Is it possible to mine two different coins on one computer like one coin on CPU and another coin on GPU?
Luke memorycoin on CPU and litecoin on GPU?

yes you can, just have to make sure you leave 1 or 2 cpu cores for scrypt mining on a dedicated box.

I'm mining scrypt coin and cpu coin at the same time but only using 6cores for cpu mining on a fx8350.

Thanks for the response! So how exactly do you create a dedicated box for scrypt mining? I'm a bit of a noob haha dcan you point me in the right direction so I can learn how to do this haha

just leave the box to mine and do not use if for surfing net, word processing etc. so for 24/7/365 all it does in run the mining app
Just have OS installed and just the drivers to get your pc running - having minimum services running in the background to have machine running the mining app.

ok I see what you are saying Smiley thanks!
hey do you happen to know if amd or itel cpus are better for mining cpu coins? Is it just dependent on the number of cores a cpu has or something else?
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudapts - GPU mining for Protoshares (PTS) on: January 31, 2014, 11:22:26 AM
Yes, it is available. I've written a first version of a miner for AMD gpus, which seems to be much faster than other miners (>2100 c/m @ R290@1025mhz). but i provide at the moment only linux binaries: https://www.dropbox.com/s/s7jlsyqkowwswaa/clpts.tar.gz

is it or will it be out for the community to use Wink
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: concerns about ethereum's fundraiser on: January 31, 2014, 11:11:36 AM
this is not "fundraising". the BTC goes to some address and that's it. there is no accountability. all of this is illegal in Canada for sure. my problem: several million dollars raised through such a process does not help the community at all. quite the opposite.

do they actually have several million dollars raised or do they want several million dollars?
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: mining coins on CPU and gpu on: January 31, 2014, 02:58:56 AM
Yes, but you will usually see the GPU hasrate drop once you turn on CPU mining. It is not recommended.

Thanks for the response! So is the GPU hastate less likely to drop if you have a high end cpu?

Hi, all - as discussed in a prior thread, I've open sourced my code for mining ProtoShares (PTS) on Nvidia GPUs.

The code is still a little rough around the edges but is functional and decently fast - and, at least until the difficulty catches up, a very good mining-per-watt option. Smiley

https://github.com/dave-andersen/cudapts

Tested on MacOS and Linux and known to run on GT 650m, GTX 690, Tesla K20c, and GTX 650Ti.

The code is based on ptsminer and is tied to beeeeer right now, but should be straightforward to extend.

No binaries yet, and building it requires some experience with getting CUDA running on your system.  This is still advanced-intermediate terrain, but should get better as the kinks get worked out.

Happy mining!

  -Dave

Is GPU mining on AMD cards available?

55  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Cryptocurrency Guide and Next Generation Blockchain Innovations on: January 01, 2014, 05:37:45 AM
I believe a very detailed guide on how to create your very own cryptocurrency for fun or profit is something that should be created if it hasn't already!
I don't think anyone out there has done this yet. I think it should be a very detailed step by step guide so that even my grandma can create her own cryptocurrency or blockchain innovations.
I think that the more minds we have that are working towards innovation and implementation of new
cryptocurrencies the better off we all are and I'm sure we'll all learn more from each other.

Who knows perhaps someone's crazy cryptocurrency will contain the killer feature the propels the whole industry to previously unimaginable heights.

Cryptocurrency as a DAC?

What about Cryptocurrency as a multi-cellular biological organism? A dynamic organism with the potential for evolution by reproducing and natural selection?

Who know maybe Artificial Intelligence will arise through something like this...

I think innovation happens when ideas have 'sex' and sometimes people who have great ideas that can be applied somewhere out of their domain of expertise aren't applied because they don't have the technical know-how. Guides are simply meant for simplification purposes. People don't just see cryptocurrencies as 'coins' or just plain money that can be sent from point A to point B.

I personally see a similarity between cryptocurrencies and biological organisms. Each node is the equivalent to a cell in a multi-cellular organism. Each individual cell has a job to do that when combined with millions or trillions of other cells ensure the continuity of the organism. Each node in a cryptocurrency network ensures the continuity of the cryptocurrency. Do you sort of see?
Bytemaster sees cryptocurrency as a Distributed Autonomous Corporation.

I think that looking at cryptocurrency in a different way adds to innovation. Remember Bitcoin is revolutionary but it is NOT the best we can do.
Perhaps the blockchain can be used for more than just financial instruments such as DACS...

Who knows maybe we can use blockchain technology to create next generation virtual reality environments? Think of something like Second Life, only that instead of having CENTRALIZED servers creating and maintaining the virtual environment we create a DECENTRALIZED game where we have millions of nodes donating computing power.

Of course the nodes that voluntarily maintain the virtual environment would receive something in return for the computing power. They will have powerful incentives to do so.

The Bitcoin network in aggregate already surpasses the combined computing power of the Top 500 supercomputers in the world. Imagine that we could harness that much computing power to create a virtual gaming environment like Second Life. 0_0

Think of the possibilities...

Now... How do we start? LET'S DO THIS!  Smiley
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MemoryCoin 2.0 (MMC) - 5 Positions Available - $360/day on: December 31, 2013, 01:57:56 AM

Selling your MMC at a discounted rate due to the lower rate of electricity required to generate it will eventually find a way to cut off CPU mining.

This is just my opinion for the matter.

It's a tough one to call - there are so many factors involved. What I see happening is that more and more GPUs and CPUs will start mining until profits are driven down . . . causing the GPUs to mine something else, leaving only the CPUs because they have nowhere more profitable to go.

Hi I have some memorycoins because I have protoshares. Now I'm just wondering what makes Memorycoin a viable cryptocurrency? I mean what makes memorycoin better than anything out there?

Can somebody explain to a noon how many protoshares you can mine per day with 10 cpu's from digital ocean? I'm considering setting up an account with digital ocean but I don't find a profitability calculator online.

59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ^**[BTC/MMC]**^ Google Spreadsheet Exchange on: December 20, 2013, 09:53:43 PM
does anybody here know how long you have to mine and how much hashing
power you should have in order to acquire 1 MMC?
pools are in development as I type this; the answer to that question right now is a function of you solomining a block right now, which isn't all that easy to determine due to the wide variance involved. As soon as the pools are up and running, difficulty will jump a bit as those who until now do not have access to high-end machines run (back) to mining, but you'll be able to mine fractions of a coin based on hash power contributed to the pool instead of waiting for a complete block on your own.

Ok I'll just sign up to a pool as soon as they are developed. Any idea where such info will be posted?
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ^**[BTC/MMC]**^ Google Spreadsheet Exchange on: December 20, 2013, 09:49:10 PM
have you or anybody found a block? If so how long did it take you to find a block and how much hashing power?
Is 1 hash per minute slow?
