41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should I invest in an ICO? on: June 04, 2018, 08:10:52 PM
Good day fellow investors,

I have some spare eth and btcs and I am searching for an alternative way to invest, is ICO really worth it? and if it is, I heard there are scams, what can you recommend I should do?

Regards.

I wouldn't recommend investing in an ICO is you are new regarding this field. Investment is pretty risky and if its in an ICO, the risk is triple. This is not being exaggerated but investing in an ICO is very much risky. Scams are everywhere. ROI is not guaranteed. Who would invest in that? So I think this is more like of a gamble than an investment.
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: All rating platforms are shit!? on: June 04, 2018, 08:04:33 PM
Too much deception around, investor confidence starts to decline and the market reacts naturally! I think we need some mechanism to protect honest projects, some kind of association in which guarantees the reputation of the project, because all rating platforms are shit!

What do you think?

I wouldn't say that rating platforms are shit you just cannot trust them. Well, if you think about it, if they cannot be trusted then they might be shits? LOL
Anyway, you cannot trust the ratings in any rating platform because there are many cases of ICOs that has high ratings but ends  up to be a scam project. To think that the ratings were made by some "experts".

I don't think such association will be formed, in the near future at least. ICOs are not being regulated so an association cannot give certifications regarding the reputation of a project.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the relationship between Altcoins and bitcoin ? on: June 04, 2018, 07:06:06 PM
The main currency in cryptocurrency markets is Bitcoin. Alts tend to fund Bitcoin runs and Bitcoin tends to fund alt runs. Given this relationship, Bitcoin price movements effect altcoin prices. But the result is unpredictable. Certainly there are some common relations between them. So what are the common trends that occur to altcoins when bitcoin price changes ?

This is because the price of an altcoin is in Bitcoin and not in fiat. So is an altcoin x = 1 btc = $10,000 then 1 btc after an hour becomes $9,000 then an altcoin x = 1 btc = $9,000. Even though the conversion factor of x to btc remains the same, the value changes because of the value change in btc. This is not always the case since every altcoin has their own community that could affect the price independently from bitcoin.
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pre sale or ICO? on: June 03, 2018, 07:00:20 PM
When is better to buy crypto, on pre sale or on ICO? When you buy on presale, you can get good bonuses, however when you buy on ICO you have a better gurantee not to be scammed.

Personally, I'd choose ICO over Pre-ICO/Pre-sale. Although, as you mentioned, Pre-sala does offer great bonuses, even 100% bonuses. If you buy on Pre-sale, you will gain more if the ICO was a success. However, we are talking of investment here. You cannot be too sure regarding the legitimacy of a project. Most projects bails at the middle and even after the ICO. If you buy on the Pre-sale then the project came out to be a scam then you are for a loss. But if you decide to wait for the ICO, there is less probability of loss due to scam.

I personally reads the community first before going in. If the ICO is going well then I might consider going in as well. Considering that you have studied the project and verified all information.
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What altcoin would you prefer to be paid in? on: June 03, 2018, 06:52:48 PM
Assuming you're doing remote gigs or remote work. What altcoin would you choose?

I think Ripple is a great choice because of how fast it is.

Thoughts?

I'd prefer Ethereum here. Not saying that I hate Ripple, it's just that Ethereum has the greater probability  of price increase over Ripple. This is more of practicality over efficiency. Yes, the transaction of Ripple outdo Ethereum transactions but for the scenario given by OP that if I am to be paid for work, Ethereum will still be as good as Ripple. Even far better because of the profitability factor.
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: EOS Crashing Ethereum on: June 02, 2018, 02:08:10 PM
As I have said in a different thread, it is too early to conclude about EOS overtaking ETH. The BTC and BCH scenario is the very best example for this.
I believe that the cause of massive selling of ETH is to get on board of EOS before it launches. Then many will go back to ETH after harvesting their profit. Basic of trading. ETH is still too powerful to be overtaken.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Did crypto become mainstream too early? on: June 02, 2018, 01:29:45 PM

Hear me out: I think we got too popular too fast. The normal person on the ground would expect to use crypto much more for daily-life transactions but this is not currently the case. Maybe we needed some more time for the technology to mature (no scaling issues, slow transactions, etc) THEN the normies come in. Right?

I don'y think cryptocurrency is getting popular fast enough. It has been 9 years (if I am not mistaken) since the existence of the first cryptocurrency and yet we are not yet in the mainstream. Yes there are many people getting engaged to cryptocurrency but this does not mean we are in the mainstream already. Although I agree that we need to have much powerful technology to handle any issue before we go mainstream.
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH VS EOS on: June 02, 2018, 11:30:19 AM
I think they will just fight over dominance. Most of the cryptocurrency out there are fighting for dominance and the existence of EOS will just be the same. I agree that EOS is a good contender for ETH. However, EOS cannot overtake ETH that easily. Just take a look at BTC and BCH. Many had claimed that BCH will overtake BTC but it never happened. This could be the same case. It's too early to conclude anything.
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Risk points of investing in cryptocurrency. on: May 29, 2018, 02:47:22 PM
As a newbie, I should know the risk point of investment in cryptocurrency. Could you please share your views so that I can gather some knowledge about the risk factors??
Thanks in advance.

There is a huge risk in every investment and investing in cryptocurrency is very much risky. A newbie like you will have a hard time dealing with these risks and it is a good thing to seek help. This is my list of risks.
- Cryptocurrency's price is community driven. Better examine the community of a specific coin before going in.
- Do not invest based from opinions. It is always good to spare some time to conduct research before investing. The opinions of others is not as important as the facts you can gather.
- Invest only an amount that you can afford to lose. A strong coin can get weak in an instant so invest at your own risk at all times.

I suppose this is more than of a tip  Grin
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoins dropping like crazy on: May 29, 2018, 02:24:05 PM
Is there a particularly reason why all Coins are dropping simultaneously this week? If you look at the charts you will see a pattern

The only reason here is that Bitcoin's price decreased. As many are aware, when the price of Bitcoin declines, almost all altcoins follow. That is also the reason why there's a similar pattern with the prices of those coins. And if you ask why Bitcoin's price dropped, there's no significant information regarding that. Bitcoin and all cryptocurrency are just volatile in nature. Decrease in price occurs normally.
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Why long-term trading! on: May 29, 2018, 02:05:17 PM
Hello all, I am engaged in trading and I am often asked by beginners how to trade long-term or short-term strategy.
For beginners, I would advise you to trade long-term, but such trade does not suit impatient people, sometimes you have to wait a very long time, a couple of months, and maybe a year, and sometimes even more.
This strategy has a number of advantages, especially for beginners.
1. Compared to intraday trading, you do not need to be in front of a computer and watch the price 24/7, so the trader experiences less emotional stress.
2. Only when using long-term trading, it is realistic to take above 100% of the profit from 1 deal. With intraday strategy, this is hardly possible (except that a miracle will happen).
3. Unlike intra-day trading, you do not need to be a professional, enough to have basic knowledge.

This is my opinion, I do not force you to adhere to this strategy, study trading if it interests you and find your strategy.
I hope someone helped. Good luck!BTCBTC

This is a good reason and explanation for beginners. Trading is not as pleasant as anyone could think about. Trading is a complex thing to do. Even myself, I have been here for more than a year and still I am not engaging in day trading. I always do long term investment and is picking a strong coin in order to lessen the risk at hand.

One way or another, I'll be engaging in day trading and research is crucial to be a great trader.
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum ALL IN? on: May 29, 2018, 01:50:20 PM
With the current price of Ethereum, it is indeed a good time to buy as much Ethereum as we can. I personally want to hoard as much Ethereum as I can. I believe that Ethereum will increase in value as much as Bitcoin is right now. Honestly, I am planning on buying Ethereum again next week. Ethereum is the best coin for long term investment, in my opinion at least Grin
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Currency has theability to remove poverty. on: May 29, 2018, 01:37:27 PM
Crypto has gained a significant value in recent time. And I have seen some people who have been able to wash out their miserable by trading in crypto.  In this point I believe crypto has the value than can remove poverty from a country. What is your thought?? Have you seen anyone who have been rich by Crypto??

It is true that many became rich because of cryptocurrency. Many became more stable in life because of cryptocurrency as well. However, this does not mean that cryptocurrency could eliminate poverty. There's no way cryptocurrency can do that. The world will continue to fall and poverty will just get worse and worse. I like your optimism but we just have to be realistic.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: shall i convert my bitcoins to ethereum? on: May 28, 2018, 06:41:20 AM
i was thinking to sell my bitcoins and buy ethereum what do you thinkl guys

I personally does not object to this. Ethereum is a great coin and has a great potential. It is also more practical to go mainstream. I am holding ETH instead of Bitcoin, not that I like Ethereum more, it's just that I like how low the tx fee of ETH is. I love Bitcoin but it is not practical for my current usage. I am not saying that you should convert your Bitcoin to Ethereum, this decision should be all on you.
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum wallet ? on: May 28, 2018, 06:34:55 AM
Need suggestions about ethereum wallet. What do you think is the best wallet for ETH ?

For a beginner like yourself should use MyEtherWallet first. MEW is s straightforward online wallet for Ethereum and it supports ERC20 tokens. MEW is suitable for beginners but be aware that there are many phishing schemes for MEW. Take precautionary measures always when accessing your wallet. The more cautious you are, the less likely you'll be hacked.
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum will go up or down? on: May 27, 2018, 04:24:47 PM
Ethereum (ETH) will go up or down?

What do you thinking?

This depends on the time span of the speculation. If we are talking about months let us say at least 5 months then I'll say that the price will go up. This is because we are talking about long term speculation. ETH or BTC tends to increase in value especially for some specific season. However, if we are talking about short time span of speculation, then nothing could give a certain answer. There's no concrete data that could really help to speculate the price within days.
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WHAT ARE THE FEATURES OF A GOOD COIN? on: May 27, 2018, 04:11:51 PM
As a newbie,  I want to know the features of a good coin for which its value raise in market. I think its purchasing capability is mainly responsible. What is your logic?

Based from my own observation, it seems that the feature of the coin is not much of an import to most people. AFAIK, there are more people in cryptoshere that are not really up to the technology, their aim is to earn. The cryptocurrency began to be a speculative market. All are based from news and rumors. People do not pay attention to the real benefit of the coin they are purchasing/selling.

Smart investors go to the feature of the coin. They are up to the coins that have real world application. The feature is a factor but news and rumors are the one that are responsible for the price.
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin prices go down, why altcoins prices also go down? on: May 27, 2018, 03:37:40 PM
I want to ask you all, why if bitcoin price goes down, altcoins price also come down, what is alcoin-price bitcoin, please give me your answer.

When Bitcoin's price increases, altcoins' prices follows. When Bitcoin's price decreases, the price of altcoins follows as well. This is happening because the price or value of all altcoins out there is linked to Bitcoin and not to fiat. If you could notice in all exchanges they have this so called "Market". Let us take ETH for instance. If you want to buy/sell ETH in BTC Market (ETH/BTC), the price is in terms of BTC (i.e. 1 ETH = 0.1 BTC). So if the value of 0.1 BTC now is $700 then 1 ETH = $700, after a day the value of 0.1 BTC went down to $600 then the value of 1 ETH would be $600 as well (saying that the conversion factor of 1 ETH = 0.1 BTC does not change).

This is well explained answer. This is correct. Since altcoins are linked to Bitcoin then the price of altcoins depends on Bitcoin. Bitcoin is the cryptocurrency that has a direct conversion to fiat (other major coins are also convertible to fiat directly, however, they are also connected to Bitcoin so Bitcoin is the main catalyst here). I think there is no more info to add to the above's instance, as it is a self-explanatory instance (in my perception).
59  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buy when market is Red on: February 15, 2018, 09:35:11 AM
Buy when market is Red, a trick to successful trading. Also dont put buy orders ahead of time.

The golden rule for investors. And has proven effective throughout these times. Many who take risks have made pretty decent amount of profits following this rule and some lost more due to panic selling.
60  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC price decreases and BCH increases sharply, why? on: December 20, 2017, 05:14:12 PM
I wonder when the whole market dyed red but BCH increased sharply and the price of BTC fell sharply. Shark want everyone sell the BTC to buy BCH, then the shark will harvest the BCH and increase the BTC again.
Should I sell BTC now??

This exact scenario happened weeks ago that pushed Bitcoin Cash's price to 1,200+ USD. After a few days, Bitcoin began climbing again while Bitcoin Cash had its correction but recovered quickly. The price of BCH stabilizes and increased as well. The scenario last time will happen again and might happen again in our current scenario.
I suggest that you must hold your BTC for now and wait for it to increase in value before converting it to BCH.
