Gold that thing with lots of mothball mine's waiting to come out of retirement when gold is worth x. with modern extraction techniques that make the old days and numbers comparison totally obsolete.

You bitcoin shill bugmen really are clueless about metals.  It requires moving twice the tonnage of dirt right now to get one ounce of silver as it did just over one decade ago (then add 2007-2017 printing and inflation on top of that). Peak gold and silver have just occurred recently.  All the low hanging fruit is taken first; only much more costly stuff is left in the ground.  There is no super secret technology to move exponentially increasing amounts of dirt using the same amount of energy as before.  Most of these machines involved are running on diesel.

The govt is afraid that letting stocks implode will cause the boomercucks to riot since all retirement funds are tied to them, plus the oil industry has mega amounts of bad debt that could probably blow up the whole system as well if they don't try to inflate that away.  Govt is clearly attempting some type of last ditch effort to float the system by having a 1970's inflation epidemic.  Metals went up 10x last time this happened in an 8 year span. Putting money into bitcoin and praying some other scammer pumps the valueless tokens is gambling.  Putting all your money into the base of Exter's pyramid (gold and silver) and waiting for the 10x is not gambling.

That is why I have 30% in metals... .

What was our truly dumbest comment of 2017? There is no question: it was, and is and shall be going into the New Year our statements regarding Bitcoin. We thought it was a bubble at $5,000. We thought it was a Bubble at $10,000 and at $15,000 and at $20,000. We thought it would crash and burn long ago and clearly we were wrong

Dennis Gartman

And yet the U.S. stock market is the most overvalued of any point since the Roaring Twenties, but eh no problem it's perfectly fine.  Roll Eyes

And I guess it gets lost on Dennis that the Wallstreet establishment is desperate to first get a Bitcoin Futures market and then Bitcoin ETFs propped up and fast. They surely aren't going through all the trouble and effort because they want to use them to fleece a bunch of supposedly dumb millennials. That wouldn't be worth the effort. So why the sudden rush? After all these years of Bitcoin being around, why now?

Perhaps Wallstreet views Bitcoin as an "uncorrelated asset" (read: not overleveraged and over-collateralized to the moon like equities)? Perhaps they know something bad is coming 12-18 months from now? Or that a Black Swan could come out of nowhere any moment?

Remember, Gartman is very famous for consequently, never failing, making wrong predictions, (publically at least). So this is not good news for us.  Cheesy

OT: Theranos.

Why in the hell do investors keep giving this shit company money? They have been at it over a decade now and they have nothing, zero, zilch, nada. Their supposed super secret IP is a complete fraud, a scam. They haven't made a dime on anything. Their CEO jet sets around and lives like a billionaire queen, and has been doing so for ten years now. She's delusional and thinks that she is the next Steve Jobs.

https://www.yahoo.com/tech/theranos-gets-100-million-debt-181505187.html

It’s debt and probably secured against the only real assets the company has left (whatever those are).  Also drawdown is highly conditional.

It 's all about the Collar... .

They have few messages on twitter and instagram saying they are adding new faucet for BCH?

https://twitter.com/thecoinpot/status/944607878610063361

As some other guy said, are fake profiles used to spread referrals.

And, if this takes so long the admin could simply explain the reasons and give updates in the manteinance message, unless he enjoys spreading FUD to his users.

They have never been good communicators. And I remember once there was a similar situation with Moonbitco where effectively the loyalty bonus was gone after they reappeared.

But now, honestly, I think that they just closed the shop and threw the key in the water.

It looks like they canceled all pending BTC transactions and moved their coins to a segwit wallet. https://blockchain.info/address/1CPg9Sc4AgABkz94AukSf9o8EeNruEZYp7

Hopefully they will still send my 50,475 satoshis that I withdrew 6 days ago. The pending tx appears to no longer be valid due to a doubke spend to their new wallet.

1CPg9Sc4AgABkz94AukSf9o8EeNruEZYp7
Unable to decrypt the output address
-17 BTC

any idea if this means something bad?

They just closed the shop, nothing bad from their point of view.

Did you  make the same observation on Stamp : someone sells 1400 BTC  (@0.21) for 6750BCH. This gigantic wall prevents BCH from going below 0.21 for quite some time... .
409  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 23, 2017, 01:07:11 PM
It's a kinda strange sense of certainty I get the more BTC is attacked. The high transaction fees and long confirmations is an increased incentive to hodl. While those new to crypto of the last 30 days are freaking out at BTC's correction and trying to trade alts, I've never felt more bullish in my hodlings.   In fact, its exactly what I did before I joined the buy and hodl only team.  I'm thinking there's a good possibility of some big news around the corner in response to the past several days.
I can confirm that lots of eager "new" investors got spooked recently. Next gen hodlers?

Yeah well, this time I did something stupid. I had an old stop loss order sitting at 10300€. Long forgotten. And then when the drop started, it came in sight and when I tried to cancel it, Kraken went in 502 and all the other cloudflare tricks, by the time I had access to cancel it, the order was closed... . Now sitting with 20% of my stash converted to worthles €toiletpaper... . Pff

Yeah, every trade is a taxable event to US persons. Whether that is buying coffee or litecoin. It is property according to the IRS.

Even if you thought you could get away with the like kind exchange rule, you still have to report every trade individually on the exemption form.

If it were classified as a stock, you could just report net gains and losses but not so with property.

They have made compliance nearly impossible so unless someone passes a law to exempt transactions prior to a certain date, a lot of people are going to owe back taxes and penalties if not jail time.
Simple solution: Become an expat.

Am I happy to be a Be citizen, now. Null tax as long as I behave like a good housefather. (Means not to much sex and drugs and R&R).  Cheesy

To be clear thread still relevant to BCH

Relevant in what way? As a replacement or combination type deal?

I saw Coinbase listing one of their factors for going full Bcash as 'network security' which is slightly more than insulting to anyone in the knows' intelligence.

For me BCH is the coin that most closely implements the white paper, which is what all of my posts since 2011 have been based on.

I wish BTC all the best with their project. No hard feelings. It's just not what I bought into.

How is that ever possible, what implements the white paper, is not what historically was created by the writer of it, but what is a spin off by disagreeing participants?

So basically in the end lower fees will not stimulate commerce, but trading.

Just like corporate tax cuts will not stimulate wage growth or the economy, but more company stock buy-backs and maybe a tiny, one-time employee bonus for show.

Lol  Grin

Yeah, here in Be it goes under the name of "Taxshift" and the narrative is the employees will have 2€ more on their paychecks... . (The boss will have a few million extra on the share buybacks that will be
represented as Capex for further growth and more employees).

Edit: Either way, does not the law say that you mention that bad money expels good money? I do not understand your logic.

Gresham's Law:
Bad money tends to circulate, pushing good money into holding (aka storage).

And oh boy, are the BCash crew pushing it as a better form of spending, thus circulating money (ie. lower transaction fees).

Same with Litecoin. I remember when even Coblee was saying "Bitcoin is for holding, and Litecoin is for spending." He was basically shooting litecoin in the foot with such statements.

But let's be real for a second.

1. e-Commerce is rarely if ever happening with crypto. It just isn't. Even if the coin is supposedly "better or faster" for spending.

2. Traders want lower transaction fees for more trading and no fee friction. That's it.

3. Miners HATE hodlers, because they get no transaction fee revenue if coins just sit.

4. The establishment would love nothing better than HFT on-chain. But of course, they will never ever achieve such a thing.

What commerce expects from a currency is in the first place stability of value. So none of the current cryptos is suitable. And indeed traders love the opposite, volatility. So basically in the end lower fees will not stimulate commerce, but trading. And probably HFT and all the casino wizzardry. The whole argumentation by the big blockers is just mist and smoke screens for one thing : the third motivation Peter R. metioned for WuVer : get filthy rich on the back of all others.

I actually noticed back in my days at university that the academics who used "I" in their talks instead of "we" or "one" tended to be a complete waste of attention (with very few exceptions). May or may not be related.

Completely related.

Blowhards that are haughty and full of themselves. They overestimate their own intellect, skills, and importance in the world.

Deep down inside they are completely insecure and miserable.

And that explains their love for VerWu shit. It has leaders they can follow to compensate for their own insecurity and lack of initiative. Give them a leader... . And they will follow...

Good one, I always make that lapsus too... .

Should be this:
