Any ideas on what I should do with my Ledger Nano X now?  Roll Eyes

IMO, you can install FIDO U2F app on your Ledger nano x and use device to secure accounts on plenty of services like Google email, Dropbox Facebook etc.. Find instruction how to do it. And no need to regret of being in crypto. You have acquired new knowledge that may be coming in handy in your life.

406  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Uniswap on: September 02, 2020, 10:42:41 AM
This gas craze going on with decentralized exchanges are crazy, this is why I still prefer to trade on tier 1 centralized exchange. FOMOS and hype will be gone soon, I just hope this gas fees being charged by dex will be lessen its a big turn off.
You are right, decentralized exchanges is good, but gas fee is so unfriendly that even small transactions can use higher gas that is beyond estimation. If this can be more cheap in the future I think many traders will use it. Sometimes there were times when I wanted to sell my tokens but because the gas was so crazy I finally gave up.

Looks like all the bidding’s gonna be on Uniswap  soon. Trading volume on this exchange sets one record after another and nowadays exceeds than one for Coinbase not to mention the other exchanges. But I think it’s just a "market  foam" that will disappear in a year or two at the most.
407  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum wallet user Lost $16M in Bitcoin. on: September 01, 2020, 03:00:12 PM
His story surprised me a lot. Did not update since 2017 and probably doesn't read our board otherwise he would be aware of that trick with Electrum outdated version. He communicated this but  many cases remain undeclared, fraudsters' business is  flourishing as I can see.
Many people dont have the habit of updating software after a new version is released nor do any checks on the changelogs as to what improvements have been done in the update. For them it is "just another update" and "waste of more data from their internet plan". I know this sounds strange but even for software that mediate in storing valuable assets are handled like this by them.

That  phenomenon  of recklessness is spreading  like pandemic. Another guy claimed the loss on the same reason. He traced the part of the stolen Bitcoin which landed on Binance  but exchange did nothing to block them
408  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Polkadot - new top ten member on: September 01, 2020, 07:09:12 AM
Got myself some Polkadot from Binance . the investment grew 20% in just 1 day . lets hope this is a good one and not another DEFI bubble .
currently, DOT is traded on more than 6+ major exchanges such as Binance, Huobi, and Kraken...
although it is classified as a new coin, this coin has very good potential in the future, very good for collection.

IMO, a bit pricey for collection at the moment.  When the buzz will set down it plunges. This always happens with all tokens no matter  how good the supporting technology is. And then one could think of a collection.
409  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: DEGO - A DeFi Aggregator - Soon to Uniswap on: September 01, 2020, 06:47:37 AM

If nothing else, their website is designed unique, using the 90s version of windows. But not really helpful in my opinion.

I see neither uniqueness nor utility of the landing page of their site, a  bit rough in parts, though this is how things are done in Defi right now, hype so to say. Be careful guys and gals and avoid another rattle.

There is so many Opportunities now

Nope, those are challenges rather than opportunities and the main challenge is to be  not infected. Even those who recovered after first symptoms are under the threat because Covid 19 influences different organs and  leaves behind many side effects which may appear after a while. Care yourself.

I also planned to buy this coin, but after talking with different people, I changed my mind while investing in it.
I will wait until mid-September.

Your opinion?

I have mixed feelings about whether to buy right now or postpone for a while. The technology they put out  speaks for itself, it's good and innovative in some respect, but nowadays not everything depends on technologies... there are a lot of various factors that could either mainstream or torpedo it.   Btw, there are a  few more Polcadot's threads here on forum that could help to take the right decision:

413  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XRP got 30 new WHALES!!! on: August 29, 2020, 07:16:51 AM
XRP got 30 new whales who are holding over a million XRP on their wallet. The analysis says XRP is ready to go up. Read the article below to know more.
https://cointelegraph.com/news/xrp-is-up-30-and-has-30-new-whales/amp

What's your thoughts on it? Can we see Ripple over 1$ again? Or it will stay here?

The rich have their quirks. If you have a few extra millions in your pocket,  then why not to buy? Even shit like that can shoot up, eventually. But I would not consider  new whales in XRP room   as a 1$ signal,  at least for the nearest future.
414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is Satoshi Nakamoto? on: August 27, 2020, 06:10:46 AM
New strand of old Satoshi story, he was Satoshi Nakamoto all along, believes Leah McGrath Goodman. She refers to certain points made by Dorian as well as on the scraps of the broken file which should be restored by BTC founder. I have tried to find info on his background ( education, programming experience , etc.) but with no success.

Unfortunately, many people cannot assess the threat themselves ,  for various reasons  either of their ignorance and low level of education or because of the fact that they are easily accessible to propaganda that offers the most easy but not always right way of behavior  in pandemic atmosphere like world has right now. Really sorry for him.
416  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russian tool will make your transactions transparent on: August 22, 2020, 06:39:42 AM
You know it's all bullshit when someone says that they can deanonymize Monero. And claims about artificial intelligence often don't inspire confidence and can be another sign of a scam, because nowadays it's so easy to claim that you can solve any problem with AI, but it's actually hard to do so on practice. Also Russia is notorious for making bold claims about technology with nothing to back them up, Putin's vaccine being the latest one.

Russian scientists are forced to do such bold claims to get grants from government. After receiving money they do nothing and at the end just write the final report meaning all  their work is ended. This way the system works for dozens of years, so you don’t have to worry about that statement of Lebedev Institute.
417  Other / Archival / Re: Betting Systems on: August 21, 2020, 10:29:33 AM
If think globally all betting systems could be divided into two big categories - centralized  and p2p which is truly decentralised.  My mood is currently shifting to p2p betting which relies on blockchain or DAG technologies. Just recently, for betting on  European Champion League events,   I have tried p2p sport betting bot developed on Obyte platform and should say it rocks. After that me likely will never return to centralized betting.
418  Local / Альтернативные криптовалюты / Re: DeFi - финансовая экосистема ETH ( Сентябрь 2019) on: August 20, 2020, 05:38:18 AM

420  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russia has developed covid-19 vaccine. on: August 18, 2020, 04:14:58 PM
The problem is  not to develop vaccine but to develop such one that would  not harm the body.  It  took almost 5 years to develop vaccine against Ebola. I don't think  Russia has manage to develop the good  stuff against COVID on such a reduced timeline.

The problem with testing these health damaging products is that we, the taxpayer, have to pay for the cripples it creates for the rest of their lives - which will be shorter than normal.

but who knows what is normal? Thanks to children immunized against smallpox the humankind  has a long and successful health record relevant to that illness in the past and current centuries. Are you sure you would exist without that?

Except, of course, if it was only timing, and the vaccinations had nothing to do with it, and smallpox was in its final stages anyway, and Big Pharma only took advantage of what they knew was coming... smallpox going away naturally.

Cool
Not correct, vaccination against smallpox began as early as in 17th century. There was neither Big nor Small Pharma at that time. Doctors used variolation -"process by which material from smallpox sores (pustules) was given to people who had never had smallpox". Learn the history.
