I missed the last match Between India and New Zealand. Once again, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave India a Flying start. Both got Century, and they scored a massive 385. Devon Conway and Henry Nicholls played well, and they had enough overs in hand to win the match. The main reason for India's outstanding performance is that each of their batsmen is in good form. So they are not dependent on the performance of any particular batsman in the match. BTW, the ICC has proposed a 6-team tournament for the 2028 Olympics. I am surprised. They should have went for a 3-team or 4-team competition. Anyway they want cricket to be played only by the pig-4. So why include more teams? All the other team sports (including football and field hockey) are having either 12 or 16 participants, and the ICC has suggested to limit the number of participants to a minuscule level. If that is the case, then why even apply for Olympic participation? Also, they don't want any qualifier tournament. ICC wants the 6 teams to be decided on the basis of their rankings. What a load of crap?
I was also shocked with this news that ICC is proposing they want to go with the 6 teams in 2028 Olympics which is surely disguising because most of the sports associations were more teams, but they are still living in 19th Century and never want to come out of this poor mindset which is not allowing cricket to have better exposure and big markets which could be more profitable. Here just they want to live with 3 or 4 countries those have control and rule with their own strategy and policies, but they are missing many points as they can lose this all if they will not allow this exposure and more entries with mostly things can go into mess up, and we can face troubles which could be surely not profitable for the game now in next phase they need to work out on T20i and franchise leagues which is future and have better value for the player future as well. That's true ICC is not ready to grow cricket world and introduce new countries in Olympics like fifa is doing it eith fifa . This is like an experimental attempt by fifa which they are conducting in 2026 and that'll be a successful one indeed but icc is not willing to do anything like that. ICC being the wealthiest organization in the world wants to keep hold of the power. Right now it is few countries that control the authority and decides what to be done. When more teams enter this won't be possible, when countries stand against the authority they were supposed to take decision based on the majority. There is big politics and they never take cricket to the Olympics for sure. It is true that if more countries join the ICC, many more issues can be resolved in a sustainable manner. But it seems that the situation will not be very easy. Those who are in charge of the current ICC will not accept those things easily or if the situation does not favor them, ICC will do whatever is necessary to retain the power. It may be more logical if the ICC adopts a voting system for major decisions on behalf of cricket. More teams , more matches, more tournaments is always good for icc and its growth and revenue too but don't know why they hesitate to add more teams to series and world cups . The Indian team's performance in a bilateral series played on the home ground has been an exception as they have not lost one since 2015. That does not mean they have won all ICC tournaments since 2015. We all know India's bad has played post-2011 in most ICC tournaments.  I know this team is doing well at the moment but, when they play in a tournament they break up as a team and most players start working on their individual performance starting with the veterans who are still in the playing 11. Congratulation to KL Rahul who got married to Athiya Shetty today! Another cricketer who has been struggling for quite some time now. Still, he would get a berth in the playing 11 for all formats and now would have a big PR team ensuring he becomes a legend on social media and mainstream media. Currently, India is a great ODI team. I believe that India is a great contender for the one day international world cup coming up this year. But I believe that India still has a few problems to fix. As of now, India has 50 venues for ODI's (one day internationals), it's on record. So we can't take anything for granted because of diverse pitches so more or less it depends on the combinations.
And history tells us that we mess up everything in crucial moments.
Agreed, but I have a good feeling about this particular Indian team. I don't think history will repeat in crucial encounters and India could end up claiming the cup just like Argentina after a long, long time. The ODI series is in Pocket.
So it would be a good idea if India try a new combination in the batting department. Maybe Rohit and Kohli should take an early leave and play at least 1 Ranji Match before BGT kicks in. Give some new batters a chance at the top order.
This is a good idea. Rahul is busy getting married and Rohit along with Kohli should take some time off too. I think the same. If Bumrah is fit and picks up form before the world cup there is definitely no one who can stop us from taking the world cup. Playing in Indian conditions is heavenly for our players. Also the team this year has a lot of odi matches to play before the world cup itself so, there will be a lot of trial and testing to find the best combination. And even as of now 8-9 months before the cup i feel we have almost the winning combination just 3-4 spots need to be finalized. Ronaldo vs Messi is a the most entertaining thing for foot ball fans all over the world.
I always considered the possibility of Messi going to the Arab Leagues at the end of his career as very unlikely, but he spent a lot of time in this geography lately and most importantly he won a World Cup there. Maybe he even started to have sympathy for these lands. I think a good contract can take him to the Arab League a few years later and re-stage his rivalry with Ronaldo. Also, It was quite fun to watch Ronaldo and Messi again in the friendly match, but I really liked the goal scored by Talisca in this match. I think he is a lost talent for European football. It would definitely be nice to see him in the top leagues for a few years. We also never even considered that it was possible for Alnassr to bring Ronaldo either but when that happened we were quite surprised and it is not impossible that this also happened to Messi and even other big players. All possibilities can still happen, especially with the money there, obviously this can be a differentiator, of course. After the loss in the first match, I thought New Zealand would make a comeback in the second ODI. But my assumption was wrong. India won the toss and decided to bowl. And their decision was completely correct. New Zealand suffered a nasty batting disaster. Their collection was only 15 runs in 10.3 overs. And they lost 5 wickets. I don't imagine they will face such a bad batting disaster. They lost the first 5 batsmen of the top order. They collected only 33 runs in 15 overs. It looks like they will lose all the wickets within 100 runs.
Indian batsmen are in very good form now. A win against India now seems impossible given the low run target. India will win today's match very easily and win the series.
Glenn Phillips is batting with responsibility. He remains unbeaten with 26 runs off 38 balls. In 25 overs New Zealand batsmen managed to collect 73 runs and they lost 6 wickets. The experience from T20 and Test matches were completely different. For that we can't say the player who had performed well can't play good in test matches. In the past we used to hear the statement, Sachin's records can't be beaten. What is happening. Virat Kohli is so close and soon he'll beat all the records. Same as that, in bowling we've got legendary bowlers from Australia and for the same it doesn't mean the present bowlers are down to them in performance.
Sachin himself in an interview had said that one batter that can beat his record is Kholi. Sachin was from an era when an umpires was the only decision makers. Virat is from an era where apart from the umpires there are softwares that help the umpires to make a decision. Still if Kholi is able to beat Sachin's record then it is a great achievement for him. Therefore I would still rate Sachin ahead of Virat. And one more thing. Sachin was a gentleman, both on and off the field. Unlike Kohli who behaves like a Baboon.
Sachin is a legend! These new age batters grew up watching Sachin play cricket. He is still a gentleman on and off the field. His simplicity is what made him the God of Cricket. It was a very good match played by both teams as both if them gave their best but India won because of Thakur and Siraj. They took all important wickets at crucial times.
This kind of stuff happens all the time in cricket. Some players heroically try to save their team and almost always end up on the wrong side of the result. I expected India to win even though NZ crept very close to the target. India should be embarrassed of themselves for almost messing up the game even though they looked like they would win comfortably at one point. That was one interesting game by India and Newzealand and till last minute you can't tell who will win specially before Micheal Bracewell wicket , after that things got out of Newzealand match . India balling side has improved alot after T20 world cup . Thakur and Siraj have proved themselves in ODI format. |
